Na Wa for this country oh! I thought that after I pass my driving test,my Insurance should go down. Instead our Providers are claiming that as a New driver I’m a high risk driver and want to add £400 to our existing insurance for our previous car and this one that we want to do, they are costing at over £900. So should we just kuku lie and keep renewing with Intl Driver’s license. I’m confused.

I’m Updating this because I know a lot of migrants come here to read and learn and I learnt from this experience.... So we have 2 cars. One’s insurance was expiring and they gave us a renewal at £900+. My husband called the insurers of the other vehicle hoping to get a bette quote that’s where gbege burst! That since I now have a ‘New’ full license, his existing insurance with them will increase by £400 and we hadn’t even started talking about the new one which is the reason why we called. Talk about tired.com.

So after you Guys Here adviced me, I went on comparison sites, put in the truth and got a quote of £421 from our Old Insurers who were quoting £900+ for renewal (via mail) shocked Called them on the phone, didn’t tell them at 1st that I had a quote but told them I had a new drivers license, Alas the bross told me it will now be £1k plus! Thunder!!
.
Long story short, after I pulled out my online reference number for the quote I have, they passed me around for a while but we’re forced to honor it. Also quickly insured our 2nd car with them and got a discount for multi car as the other folks said my husband must pay the £400+ addition or they will cancel. So we will cancel it and focus on 1 provider.
.
Lessons learnt. This Insurance is a pricing something.... The more you look, the less you see. The call center guys are NOT YOUR friends. Their job is to fleece you. Stick to comparison sites and try to be as truthful as possible. I sha finally got insurance at £421 with my New license so it’s not too bad. Hope this helps someone down the line.

Thanks to everyone who commented and encouraged me. I was pissed at first but decided to dig in small after talking with you guys. Plenty Sense for All Ya’ll. kiss

Insurance is one big scam but as it mandatory there nothing we can do but put in our budget pay and move on

I have 8 years no claim bonus but still paying 600 in insurance. Last year Nov i had a strange accident which is a story for another. Ran into a packed car / shocked man who was sitting jejely in his car why i ran into that car i will never know. Begged the man let settle it outside insurance he said no. He brought 1500 car repairs and 1000 bill in car rental and put it through insurance. It was a minor damage but He brought that bill

Insurance slashed my no claim to 3 years and my renewal flew from 600 to 1200.... i couldnt catch it cry I tried shopping around but all came to that price. Just gave up and had to pay . All the years i had no claims they choped my 600 doing nothing. One small accident my payment is double. Just a rip off jare

Where are you coming to? You can't expect anyone to offer, if at all, if they do not know where you are coming to in the UK. You can't expect someone in Edinburgh to house you if you are going to Grimsby.

Think the main election will throw up something different, the main parties have been ripped apart by the brexit issue, BP and Farage are a one trick pony- for a group that dont want to be in the EU, participating in the EU election is a big joke! They are just hunting for their 5 minute of fame and few perks of the same group they claim to want to get rid off.

Once the main issues are put to scrutiny then they will fall aside as usual

But that 5 minutes of fame, is shaking the established party structure.........

You call it one trick pony........ Wait for the results of the Peterborough by-elections...... You would fully understand this shift.......

Labour and Conservatives have held Peterborough for over 100 years (sharing)....

That is changing in Peterborough soonest.......... The 2 trick ponies are...... Conservative & Labour Party......
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by DisGuy: 11:48am On May 27, 2019
that Peterborough situation is just an oppotunity to cash in on Madam Speedy Pastor, their hold wont last for long, won't even last 2 elections-
Apart from brexit they are not offering much- NHS, immigration, Social care etc etc

All in all its a good thing, the main parties should get their acts together, finish this brexit thing make we see road. China and US are doing tit for tat with global economy and UK party in power is squibbling amongst themselves- Labour is also lost with Ché Corbyn

3 good years in limbo..no wonder everyone is jumping ship to the Brexit party
