Yes, you are right. Same was Huawei. Huawei didn't have an official presence in the US. However fact is they use American softwares which android is one. Once the US sees that as a threat, then there comes the problem. It's really unfortunate but it's real. Point of correction; Huawei has an official presence in the US. They've massive stronghold on the telecommunications infrastructure market across the globe, the US inclusive. Huawei currently are in the front row in 5G deployment ahead of others.

This whole Trump ish goes just beyond smartphones you know? The US is probably afraid that China will dominate the 5G telecoms infrastructure before their own companies are ready.

Back to your earlier discussion. I believe Chinese firms without official presence in the US would be the least of Trump's headache.

The fight is data breach, Huawei supplies most of the 4G equipments used in the USA and they are also at fore front for the Emerging 5G tech. Now US are accusing Huawei of been used by the Chinese government to spy on the US.
