I thought he's referring to only Infiniti G35 or M35 o. Never knew he was talking about M35 and GS350.

I'd do a GS350 lexus over the M35 any time any day any where. The GS350 is a better luxury car by miles. It's a proper sleeper car. It's more luxurious, and not an in your face annoying manner, it's quieter and faster, more quality materials build and material fit and finish. More reliable. Much higher resale value also.
note pls am comparing only infiniti not lexus... my comparism is btwn GX35 infiniti 2007 model and M35 2007 infiniti.. pls

You drive a Lexus, I drive an Infiniti. Let's agree to disagree.
Also, I don't think the GS is that much more luxurious than the M, tbh. Top trim M's can be pretty loaded.

If he's buying an M, I'd advice him to go with an 09. HR engine + 7 speed auto. Will run circles around the GS350.

Like I said, it depends on what he's looking for. A smoother, quieter, more comfortable ride? GS. A wilder driving experience? M35. It's a tough question, tbh, and he needs to drive both cars to be able to make a choice.

picaso313:
sorry GX35... not the lexus GS350... Heavenlybang am sure u use the GX35

The G35? Very different car from the M. Way more driver-focused. Again, depends on what you want. Would I trade in my G for an M35? Definitely not. I would for an M56, though. grin

For what it's worth, you won't regret buying a G. Has my stamp of approval.

@nurey, I appreciate your wonderful analysis as well as other car gurus. My question isn't about comparison but ask about pros & cons of Mercedes Benz E350 in terms of (maintenance /ruggedness /fuel consumption /spare parts etc). I will appreciate your pin point analysis.

nurey:

The rio is ok just note that the compressor gives way easily also the engine is the most expensive of the lot just ensure you don't used wrong oil and don't let engine overheat you will be fine.

The corolla is a good buy too but a robber magnet.

The C-class is a respect luxurious car and that year you are looking at is ok too.

any you are choosing ensure you inspect it well

Maintenance costs: Expensive. Not extraordinarily expensive but expensive. If you can't cough out 150-200k on a whim for a fix, you shouldn't be looking at one of these.

Ruggedness: It's a Mercedes. Don't drive it carelessly. Mechanical parts will start breaking down at high mileage, though. Speed Darlington owns one (W211), you can see how much he spends. A lot, and he's a very careful person.

Fuel consumption: It's a 3.5L V6. Don't expect more than 16mpg. 7km/L.

Spare parts: Available.

You didn't put a year but on a general breakdown

Maintenance wise the E350 is a trouble free vehicle due to its quality control and testing before been pushed into the market, the major cons here is the price of replacement part as luxurious vehicles are generally expensive to maintain and with the inclusion of special parts failure interval could be frequent.

Ruggedness The E350 is a salon car, not the brightest for off-road experience but strong enough to take on potholes and uneven roads, the under carriage is well padded for protection against knock from rocks and road scrapping. As long as you don't hit potholes at very high-speed and drive it above the recommended limit it won't fail to deliver.

Fuel consumption, the E350 has a base engine of V6 accompanied by a 3.5L, it is a mid performance Engine of the Eseries the fuel economy won't be friendly in city driving but would ease the wallet for highway driving.

Spare parts are always available for the Benz both in tokunbo form and brand-new but it won't be cheap but can be moderate depending on model year and where it's been sourced from.

In general an E class is a well built master piece and Benz are known for their hardened parts in very rough roads but an E class is an Executive luxurious vehicle, someone intending to buy more recent models should organize their financial capability before purchase to avoid constant parking due to repair cost

Thanks for your time and the explanation, however pardon me for not stating the year to be reviewed.
2010 to 2014 model is in view.

Anybody who can comfortably cough out 7m plus in this era wouldn't have issues with maintenance, I will recommend a C class if you don't stay in Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, kano and you are married and have only 1 wife.

If you are married and you are through with child birth then an E350 is good enough to spoil yourself and it isn't that common compared to C class.

If you are still young and wanna feel the thrill of missed teen hood then an AMG variant of the E class would do I am assuming you have a substitute vehicle to put the Benz in a Once in a while joy ride category

Like Nurey say, if you can afford the car, you should be able to maintain it.

I'll always prefer a toks car over a Nigerian used Toyota.

If you feel a Civic is too basic, try and get an Acura TSX (06-08) toks.

2011 IS250 for 3.1m. Impossible. He didn't pay duty on that car.
