did you read his post at all? That is the best True advice anyone could have given him. It’s like anytime you guys see “bracelum”, you don’t want to care what he has to say even if it makes sense.

This is a faceless forum but the way people are sensitive and won’t even acknowledge an advice especially when it comes from someone you all have tagged “outcast” is surprising. Your saving grace “advice” might just be in the mouth of the person you don’t like. People like this can’t have mentors. grin The question is can people look beyond those flaws to get the treasures? If they can’t, then I doubt people like that can go very far.

Stop being too sensitive, it’s a faceless forum. Analyze things objectively. It would be for your own good.

P.S Read his post objectively.

I read his post. He gave a good advice no doubt. I just have problem with his top schools this and that into every conversation. Not everyone has the right profile to join a top school and he is saying everyone has the potential to join a top school. That's just where i have problem with his post.

@bolded he is right tho, if they bolster the rest of their profiles. But if not, attending a top school though may come with its benefits but it isn’t the holy grail for success in life. So let everyone be true to themselves and pursue their goals according to their own desires.

What part of a person's profile can they bolster to get into top schools like Harvard, MIT, Stanford assuming the person made a 3rd class in his/her first degree and the person is clearly not intelligent? Let's see your advice

Dear Nairalanders,

I have been admitted to Eastern Illinois University graduate school to study sustainable energy for fall 2019. I have received my I-20, paid the sevis fee and also paid visa fee. I have picked a date but yet to fill my DS-160.

Here is the challenge, in 2017 December, I attempted to travel with my twin bro to USA to attend a cousin's wedding. I approached a family friend who runs a visa consultant agency to 'package' us. He collected 200k to assist us pay visa fee, pick dates, fill the form, but he mixed up my educational qualification with that of my brother (I am a food science graduate and my brother is a banking and finance graduate). I didn't even noticed it until it was a day to the interview. Though I was denied, but now it's about time to fill another DS-160 form for my F1 visa though *filing it myself* once beaten, twice shy . Hope it won't raise a red flag and what can I do? Because my WES evaluated transcripts state Bsc Food Science and Technology. Pls advice

It will raise all the color of flags. As far as you took it to the interview , that DS 160 is saved on your profile.

That's why if one changed course or school after denial, you hear them asking why the change.

You have to know exactly what that guy filled for you because any variance is a red flag.

Did you see “But if not” in my post? I guess that takes care of it. Also you have added a caveat of the person not being intelligent, which i believe is not entirely true because we measure intelligence based on one source of truth but that is another topic for another day. That means the person doesn’t have the capacity to improve other aspects like GRE, SOP, and maybe hasn’t done quite well in the work experience aspect. Which I think “but if not” has covered.

“Shreyas Renukuntla“ with a 2.8/4 converted CGPA, he had 5backlogs in his bachelors degrees he had to retake. GRE 314. His game changer was his SOP and interviews which he used bolster his profile & it helped him clinch Cornell University (Ivy League) Ms Systems Engineering. You can check him out on LinkedIn and interview him.

At the bolded, you have problem with understanding. I personally highlighted the top school part he mentioned and not the funding part. He can tell the fellow to change school and not everytime join top 20 school without knowing if the candidate has the right profile for top 20 schools. That was my point. Top school is not for everyone. Next time read to read understand and don't be fast to speak.

Forget about the hatred you have for Bracelum and read through his comments carefully, you will understand the content of his message.

He said if he wants to spend that much on school, then it should on a Top school and a competitive course. And which is the best thing the guy could ever do.

So, please stop the hating thing.

That might even not be all.

He must have filled that you're married cus that's what those agents are good at.
Like I said , confirm the exact details he filled.

Its a tough one here bro.

You have to show to the VO how you got to make that error.

You can explain that it was done by some agent and misrepresented.. This is a very dicey situation.

This doesn't answer the question of everyone as you claimed. 2.8/4.0 is not a bad grade, that's a second class lower. Someone from Nigeria got into Upenn with a 2:2 and a very high GRE. If you know some people can't improve, why mention everyone has the potential?

Hello everyone, please I need your opinion on my proposed transcript.
Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning, pass me your i20 and passport.
*passed*
VO: why are you going to the US?
Me: I'm going for my bachelors degree in Biology at Mcneese state university.
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: I applied to six in total: Mcneese state, Alcorn State, Fisk, Missississpi valley state, Bethany and Berea colleges. I got into all except Berea college.
VO: How did you learn about Mcneese.
Me: I was adviced to apply to Mcneese during my SAT lessons so I went on to research more about it and their entry requirements matched my profile.
VO: why Mcneese?
Me: Mcneese had all I was looking for in terms of class sizes, faculty to student ratio, plus the curriculum for my course was really quite favourable as they matched some of the subjects I took back in secondary school. One thing that stood out about Mcneese was the fact that they displayed a genuine interest in me and they were ready to assist me throughout the whole frustrating process of applying for colleges. So it really feels like a school where I'd fit in.
VO: why Biology?
Me: I've always loved Biology because I've always been fascinated with Life. And because biology is a vast subject, I get to learn about living things and how we interact with our ecosystems, micro organisms and how they affect us and other really important aspects of biology that address global issues. Also, I want a career in the health sector so Biology really is a subject that captures all my interests and still enables me to pursue a career in the medical fields.
VO: what are your plans after graduation?
Me: I'm not sure yet but I'll either attend med school or grad school and thereafter come back to work in my country. I hope to help improve the health sector in my country because I've experienced firsthand how poor the health sector is. I also plan to work with international organisations especially those that focus more on women and children in Africa. As Africa still holds the highest mortality rate for women and children.
VO: who is sponsoring you and what do they do?
Me: My dad is sponsoring me, he is a business man and he imports clothes from xyz and sells wholesale and retail.

Thank you.
It's a bit lengthy and I'll appreciate your opinions on ways to make it better.

Ok. Cool

That error is also reflecting in Canada database.

That's my advice for you.
If the VO asks you why there is such a variance you can explain that you were ignorant of the process so you consulted an agent to assist you and that brought about such error.

But now you're well informed about the process .

As long as you have considered the ROI and it is favourable, I will advise that you should consider it. It is a cheaper option to continuing as a student. Not easy to finance the education alone except your parents are very rich.

In my opinion, the school is not in the top schools to spend such a fee on. Have you considered the ROI on your investment However, time and chance are key in one's fortune. Fill your correct profile and go for your interview. The VO may not even notice this.

However, you must be well prepared t defend why you are attending that school. In my opinion, that is where your real challenge lies. Cheers

Send me an email and I'll work with you and get you into a top 20 university for fall 2020 even if you have a 3rd class GPA. I'm very serious about it. All you have to do is to do all I ask you to do and I won't charge you a dime for it. Though, it is not going to be a rosy process (I need to give you the head's up)

This offer is only for Johnkay101. If you want admissions counseling from me, you'll have to pay and it is not cheap.
