What they say about marrying an Osu:
An Osu is an outcast within the caste system, and marrying one is considered a taboo that must never be done. An Osu or outcast is considered the property of the gods or a slave and descendant of slaves and must never be offered or taken for marriage. Free-born men and women are expected to investigate the origins and social class of an individual to be certain he/she is not an Osu before contracting marriage.

the Osu thing has stopped, there are people who bear names like ''Nwaosu'' and they don't have problem with anyone, they live normal life and marry anyone

And someone is proud to be called Beverly osu, nwosu... With my observation most of d so called osu are making it big in life... who cares I can marry anyone so far they will bring blessings into my life. But op are u an osu?

Yes there is something called "OSU"... Especially in Igbo land... This caste although it has been abolished by d federal govt.....ppl still indulge in it....if u r an OSU u can't marry someone that's a freeborn.... U see ......though they may not say it openly but the gals ppl will tell u d marriage won't work. ...this is a very serious thing especially in nkanu land of Enugu state....

If u insist on getting married to the OSU.. D gals family won't come for d wedding,,, that's the marriage might not hold.....

Even some Christians indulge in it.....ppl still believe in it..including my own family..... Am just tired of d whole thing.. N d ppl am meeting these days are from that OSU side.....

But if I see a good guy ...I will marry him.....provided it's Gods will.....

..my assertions r correct ...it all depends on ur mother tongue.... To pple from ABIA its OSU.. But to ppl from nkanu its OHU....it all depends on how ur village pronounce it...some villages in Enugu still calls it OSU

In Yoruba land.... We have what we called. ERU \ IWOFA caste system... So barbaric, and covertly covered. , I will write a topic on it.
