I'm currently spending a fortune on petrol and in dire need of an alternative that will reduce the amount of money I spend monthly. cry
Are inverters any good? If yes what brands do you recommend?
I currently have a budget of 140k and want something that can power my 65 watt laptop for a minimum of 20 hours.
All suggestions would be really appreciated, thanks!

And also guys, I would really appreciate tips from someone who currently uses one.

has anyone here used luminous inverlast tabular batteries? are they good?

Let's go there....

I use the Lithion products and work well for me. I have 3 inverters in my house at the moment 5kva, 3.3kva and 850VA.
I think the 850 will serve your purpose, its cheap (40k), pure sine wave and its hybrid. Meaning you have the option of connecting solar panels straight to it without additional devices whenever you choose to.
For the battery, tubular batteries are the way to go now cause of their efficiency. Its not any more expensive than its gel counterpart at 90k for the 220AH.

how sure are you abt the price of 200ah battery?
because I have a 2.4kva inverter(pure sine wave) and I might sell it since it requires 2 battery and I was told 120k each for 220ah

When you call the seller you can negotiate further down.
PS. I have no relationship whatsoever with the seller, that was just a search on google.

I use a Sukam 3.5kva 48V with four batteries connected in series in a 3 bedroom apartment. It can last up to 6 hours or more depending on appliances being used.

I advise you to budget getting a solar panel with the inverter, without it, your inverter is as good as a power Bank.

Pray tell, are the batteries of these inverter rechargeable or disposable after use?
If the latter (disposable) is the case, how long will it last before one has to buy another one?

Power inverters are worth it only if you have at least minimum of 8 to 10hrs electricity supply to charge the inverter batteries, else you may need to add solar panels to charge those batteries. I will recommend u buy an Indian inverter and battery. A 12volt 1.5kva Genus inverter and one 12v 200ah Genus battery will do for the load u mentioned. Get ur batteries from Major distributors to be sure it's not been on ground for too long. Also beware of refurbished batteries... Charge your battery regularly and make sure it's fully charged once a week. Best of luck. Jay Solar. Send me mail for more enquires.jerryighodalo@gmail.com

I don’t even have up to your budget to invest on solar yet and I’m already using one as I just hate generators.

My setup:

500w solar inverter-6000 (led tv 32”, laptop, havit speaker with whoofer, energy saving bulbs etc.)

Battery charger- 6000 (10A battery charger)

100ah battery- 25000 (Uk used but battery health is still 100%) there’s more info on batteries if needed like lithium batteries which are lighter and stronger. Also 200ah battery for the type I bought is 45k.

Cable for connection and other little connectors- 5000

Total- N47000

Based on loads I use at a time, it last a minimum of 5 hours, and if I’m on laptop only which is 85w, I’ve used it for more than 8hours and it did not run down.
In my area we have at least 4hours light in a day and if the phcn supply is not faulty, my 100ah gets charged within same period.
For me to have guaranteed light on my solar setup throughout the day, I need a 250-300w solar panel which is like 45-50k at Alaba market and 30A Charge Controller which is like 6-10k depending on source.

Don’t mind me I’m a DIY kind of person and it fascinates to

There are many DC appliances like (dc iron 6000, dc blender 13000, dc fan 10000, dc freezer, dc cooker, dc water pump, dc air conditioning etc) that you can buy now and it can be connected directly to your battery for usage.

I’m available if you have questions.
