swallow ke , you chew before swallowing, thats the best way to eat solid foods, it is only a glutton that will consume solid foods without chewing.

It all depends on the 'soup' that goes with it. If it the 'draw' (hate to use the word 'slimy') unicellular variety with little or no add-ons that's fine. But if the soup is leafy and filled with beef, fish, snail....bla, bla...you will be taking a major risk trying to push that down wholesale.

A family invited my kid for dinner and the parents of the friend was surprised that we chew.

While growing up, if you swallow food, either my mum or granny would smack you for being greedy. I first thought it was a cultural thing until I later saw other people swallowing food. I was disgusted.

It might be too late to change. The reason we have teeth is to chew very well for easy digestion. It helps both small and large intestines. It prevents perforation along digestive tract.

To each his own. I have since learned to tolerate whichever one people chooses.

I have seen videos where people swallow big muscle of fufu etc. I still find it scary or uncomfortable. I will not sit near anyone that swallow food.

I can try soften other heavier foods like pounded yam and Garri. but Amala is not to be chewed, I repeat it is not to be chewed.

Anyway it's actually important to chew food cos in your digestive system certain enzimes are present in the saliva in your mouth which helps begin the proper process of digestion.
