Truth is, imported technologies costs more. If Nigeria can upgrade the academics to world class, everything will be handled well. Not only will Nigerians be needed overseas, our products will be in high demand within a decade. We need quality leaders for anything to work.

I don't care where such leader will come from but Igbos deserve a chance in 2023... And I'm a Yoruba who don't care..

Our nation Nigeria have problems and challenges, it is not just Buhari and those in power alone that can fix it - it will take us coming together.

United we can do greater things. Through dialogue and open-mindedness we can find solutions.

Nigerians should forgive, love and accept Ndigbo. And Ndigbo should forgive, love and accept Nigerians.

The South East and all of Ndigbo are a very important member of the Nigerian union. And is rightfully so.

But lately the hatred and unguarded emotions and voices of some has continued to alienate Ndigbo from the rest of nation. It now seems if you are an Igboman and you are not hating on Nigeria, you are the enemy.

Granted, our country Nigeria (like any other country out there) has many challenges and I strongly believe together we can find a common ground and solutions to them.

I believe the day Ndigbo through an organisation like Ohaneze, make a declaration like the one below in bold, Ndigbo can start the process of reclaiming its position in the scheme of things. It will also be the time other Nigerians will start giving an Igboman a benefit of the doubt.

That we, Ndigbo are 100% Nigerians. We have no other country except Nigeria. That we are not just surviving in Nigeria, but we are committed to join other Nigerians from all parts of the Federation to build the Nigeria of our collective aspiration. That we forgive those that have hurt and offended us in the past and ask never again. We are proudly Nigerians.

At the very least say this to ourselves and teach our people the same, the hate will die down, love, unity and development will grow. Nigeria will be greater than ever.

Ndigbo has no place in Nigeria.

They not only do have a place, they are already Nigerians.

This nation like anywhere else have its share of challenges, that doesn’t imply that we now destroy and bunker it to dust.

Whatever the challenges, we can overcome it together. Clinging to the past and spreading hate and animosity will not fix things. We must learn to forgive and love ourselves I'm order to have peace, find the solutions and prosper, both as individuals, tribes and as a nation.

Nice try, but I think you got it wrong.

Where I disagree with you is where you said that Nigeria can never be divided. While I'm neither pro nor anti disintegration at the moment, you lose me once you throw up the idea that unity or oneness is not negotiable. That's pure slavery. And the human spirit is a free agent that's not designed to be legitimately enslaved by any human or system. The biggest proof of freedom is the capacity to say no without fear.

So, until you concede that Nigeria may be disintegrated if the need be, then you are sincerely not yet ready to rebuild.

In fact, let me shock you, the reason ALL the attempts at national conferences (including the 2014 confab) had failed is because they were instituted with the notion that the negotiation of Nigeria's oneness was off the table. You can never make a cohesive headway in a dangerously diverse nation like Nigeria with that mindset.

Unfortunately, folks like you have turned the concept of One Nigeria into a blood thirsty idol to which they have sacrificed millions and are still willing to sacrifice even more millions of innocent people "if need be". This is despite the fact that the system has consistently failed the majority of the people.

To me, the only groups that have truly called for a promising measure that may surprisingly rescue this country from its doomed foundation are those calling for referendum on nationality.

You cannot sustain forced patriotism.

People need to be able to determine their national identity.

History has shown that anything outside that will be too expensive and totally unsustainable.

I do agree that Nigeria as a nation need to tender an unreserved apology to Ndigbo. I personally lost a sister during the war and over million people died.

I also share the believe that Ndigbo have to completely embrace being Nigerians. This seems to be where you disagree with me.

Both goes together. The Igbo saying regarding the right and left hands washing each other comes to mind.

Talking about Nigeria as a Nigerian, yes unity is paramount. And it is fundamental that Nigerians protect Nigeria.

I a proud Nigerian, it is even better to expand Nigeria to the rest of West Africa than the notion of dividing it.

If I may ask, those that want Biafra - what do you think they will do to anyone trying to divide their small country into 2 or 3 places?

Trying to divide a homogeneous country is very different from trying to divide a very heterogeneous country like Nigeria.

Then you should stop claiming that Nigeria is practicing democracy.

In true democracy, you do not enforce unity. You enforce justice, fairness, equal opportunity and rule of law based on the will of the majority. Then unity and patriotism will be the natural outcome.

Not sure what will happen in Biafra. But from what some IPOB folks are saying, Biafran regions will be so autonomous and free, yet the center will be so inclusive that people from all regions will find it so dumb and totally unattractive to want to pull out.

That's what Nigeria should have aimed for.

You should not have any business trying to FORCE people to unite with you.

yes an Igbo man has his flaws . But one attributes of an Igbo man I cherish so much is the idea of bowing down to no one but the eternal being. People forget that his rugged attitude brought him this far and has kept him going after he fought the civil. His attitude is the engine room that can make the impossible possible. The inner will to succeed. Any right thinking group would want these doggedness to build a first class country. I have never believed in a heterogeneous country but a homogenous one with a sprinkle of other ethnic groups s. When people talk about how great we can be I do not question that fact. But the former Yugoslavia had the same potentials like Nigeria but still disintegrated. No matter the potentials, you cannot put people with a different out look on life in a place and expect them to be one . The Igbos need freedom to express their selves . Most ethnic groups feel threatened about the aggressive nature of an Igbo man . That is how he was created . And they should stop expecting the Igbo man to behave like them

If further dividing Biafra into two or three smaller units would bring peace and progress, by all means we would do that. Iceland as a country cannot boast of 500,000 people. It doesn't matter if we continue to divide until we get to the promised land

As an Igbo man, the above declaration is one of the most foolish things I have ever read in my life and goes contrary to the egalitarian and confederal nature of Igbos.

It's almost like declaring eternal slavery to a country the white man created called Nigeria

It is the right of the Igbos to decide what country they want to be in or if they want a separate country of their own.

It is not to be declaring patriotism to a Nigeria that is the poverty capital of the world, ravaged by herdsmen and Boko haram, destroyed by corruption and nepotism, led by incompetent and visionless leaders.

No wonder Kanu called it a "zoo". Who would pledge allegiance to a zoo? Certainly not Igbos

Even in the United States, matters of National Security surpasses personal liberty and freedom. A US citizen can be held indefinitely by the Federal authority under that clause.

Nigerians can sit and discuss solutions to her problems, but anyone whose first agenda on the table is disintegration is doing so in bad fate. No single individual or group is bigger than the union.

"Discussing solution" starts when everything - including disintegration - is placed on the table.

Learn from Europe. They first disintegrated to bits and pieces before finally coming together (not all of them) to form the EU.

You CANNOT FORCE UNITY. Forced unity is unsustainable.

The US is not as dangerously diverse as Nigeria. Yet they have people clamoring for secession. But those people do not have momentous followership because US is literally the freest and best country on the earth - which works for most of its citizens.

Yet, unlike Nigeria which has been proven unworkable for most of its citizens, those few people who are mumbling about exit from the US are not designated unjustly as terrorists.

EU is an association not a country. Apple and oranges.

If you want to leave, pack your load and take your 40 days or years journey. Any direction.

Nigeria is not dividing.

The big question is how do you elect an Igboman a President when his current goal is to divide Nigeria to pieces?

Who were the architects of this faulty foundation? Can you absolve the people who killed off political leaders of a country barely six years old? Can you absolve the people who bastardized a carefully negotiated constitution and turned into something unrecognizable?
It is amazing that the Ibos who were the prime actors in derailing the dreams of a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria are now the same people who are preaching hate and disunity all over the place.

I knew at some point one of you will bring up this lame argument to try and justify you dislike and bigotry towards Ndigbo!

Like i’ve stated in the past, if you have a problem with Nzeogwu and co (who were not all Igbo) take it up with them or their immediate families! Unless of course you want to hold the entire Igbo race responsible for the actions of no more than ten people! Your argument would be tenable if you can prove Ndigbo voted for the first coup to be carried out and leaders of other regions killed!

If for the sake of argument we go along with your assertion that the ‘big bad Ndigbo’ agreed as an ethnicity to carry out the first coup and kill leaders of other regions...if we go along with this argument, can you explain why you guys (you’re probably Yoruba or Fulani) haven’t reversed all you blame Ndigbo of doing in 1966/67? After all, no Igbo has been head-of-State/president since then....it’s been the Fulani or Yoruba holding power at the centre for the most part since 66/67!

If you say these problems ‘caused by Ndigbo’ can’t be undone then it just goes to show the kind of country you’re running, and would even beg the question as to whether you want the status-quo maintained because you think things the way they are favour you and your ethnicity better....in which case you don’t need to be told to STFU and never complain again about Ndigbo spoiling things for ‘one Nigeria’ in 66/67!

As I said before, when you start running out of reason, name calling sets in. The formation and membership of EU never stopped member countries from being independent.

Currency, leadership and other things put in place was to strengthen the union. It never strip sovereignty off member states.

Smart pant how was the sovereignty of places like Austria and Poland before the formation of the EU? How was the sovereignty of Europe during the reign of the Roman Empire, Napoleon, USSR and the rest?

If a mega indivisible sovereignty worked so well why did they break those down and instead opted for a more lax union of smaller sovereign nations?

As I said before, "learn from Europe". Europe is not the same thing as the EU. But I'm sure your closed mindset will not allow you to notice that.

Thank you Pa Chukwudi, I have followed your comments carefully.

Please what do you think is the origin of this 'HATE'?

pchukwudi:
Little kiddo, you are the one running around and complaining everywhere.

For example, you created this thread to rant. No one forced you to do it.

Secondly, you seem to have an issue with basic logic. If you knew what justice really is, you'd also know that it cannot be justly withheld from anyone regardless of what they did, who they resent or how they feel.

Thirdly, rather than ranting about Igbo's gripping on hatred (which is a lie and is not supported by any verifiable evidence), equity demands that you first identify the origin of that hate and what's fuelling it, and then address it justly from the roots.

But you cannot do any of that.

It's easier for you (like it is for many other Nigerians) to play the classic card of blaming the Igbo's for the logical consequences of your own actions or that of those you endorsed.

Get a life please.
