The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5, as public holidays to mark the Muslim Eid-Fitri Celebration.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs Georgina Ehuriah, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director Press & Public Relations, of the ministry, on Friday in Abuja.

Ehuriah congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and enjoined all Nigerians to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for the peace, unity, prosperity and stability of the nation.

I feel for teachers who have double periods on Wednesdays...... no teaching for 3 Wednesdays in a row, June 12 is Wednesday as well.

I told someone working in Rivers not to expect any increase on her salary this year. You may say i'm a pessimist, but that's the fact.

It's either you go with your B. Ed or PGDE to their office and get yours only if you have registered with them earlier and have written the professional qualifying exam.

But mine, I registered before they started writing the exam.

Even the committee to look into salary adjustment has failed to agree with federal government, this government didn't ever what to pay minimum wage to workers. We shouldn't expect minimum wage anytime soon from this government. READ!

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) set to conduct the Main Coordination and Marking of Scripts for the May/June (School Candidate) 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) across the country from 27th June to 10th July, 2019.
According to the Deputy Director (Public Affairs) WAEC, Y.D. Ari, the exercise, which will be carried out at 75 (Seventy-Five) Venues across the country, will involve a total of 60,907(Sixty Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seven) Examiners; comprising of 62 (Sixty-Two) Chief Examiners; 9,158 (Nine Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty-Eight) Team Leaders and 51,687 (Fifty-One Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighty-Seven) Assistant Examiners.
He noted that the Coordination meetings of Chief Examiners and Team Leaders will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019; while the Coordination meetings for Assistant Examiners will be held on Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30, 2019 at all the Venues.
“The actual marking of scripts will take place from Monday, July 1, 2019 to Wednesday, July 10, 2019,” he said.
Ari stated that Examiners who have not received their letters of invitation are requested to pick them up at the WAEC Office in their States or at the Marking Venues.
He pointed out that arrangements are, however, being made by the Council for examiners to print their letters of invitations from its website saying that text messages on how to do this will be sent to all examiners who have submitted their mobile phone numbers to the Council.
His words: “The May/June (School Candidate) 2019 WASSCE was conducted by the Council at 12,846 (Twelve Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty-Six) schools nationwide and was taken by 1,540,250 (One Million, Five Hundred and Forty Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty) candidates.”

The federal government will begin adjusting the salaries of civil servants to reflect the new minimum wage
- This is as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Gida Mustapha, on Monday, June 17, inaugurated a 22-man committee to achieve this
- On its part, the head of the committee, led by the head of the civil service of the federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, said it will do it utmost to achieve positive results

After its inauguration of a 22-man committee on Monday, June 17, to negotiate the adjustment of salaries of workers to reflect the new national minimum wage, the federal government gave the group one month to come up with positive results.
The committee, inaugurated by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Gida Mustapha, is led by the head of the civil service of the federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, Daily Trust reports.

Some of the members of the committee are the ministers of labour and employment, budget and national planning, education, health and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the minister of justice.

Others members of the committee are director general, budget office of the federation, secretary, federal judicial service commission, secretary, National Assembly Service Commission, and chairman, national salaries, incomes and wages commission will serve as member/ and secretary.
Speaking to the committee, the SGF said that its key duty will be to negotiate the consequential adjustment in salaries arising from the new national minimum wage.

Mustapha said: “I have no doubt in my mind that you have abundant literature, reports and other materials to help this assignment. The duration of the assignment is four clear weeks from this inauguration. It is expected that the Committee will work assiduously to complete the assignment.”

This committee was inaugurated last month 14th was supposed to submit their report 12th June, last week labour unions rejected the proposal from the govt on the adjustments, meaning their negotiations met a brick wall, right now labour unions leaders are in Geneva for ILO global meeting.... negotiations will continue when they return. My take, this govt is totally not serious about the minimum wage period. This publication is over one month old, presently there are no ministers, yet to constitute new cabinet.

Before saying anything, did you take a look at the date in question? You need to carefully observe things before you start to criticize because it's not every thing that you will criticize.
