That Is Their Business. Rejected A Federal University Only To accept A Dilapidated stadium.

What's all the noise? A couple of millions to Julius Berger will bring back some of its lost glory... Make that a billion, and they might just notch it up to Stamford Bridge standard. If that will hurt the ailing national budget, then they should sell the god-forsaken thing to Dangote or Branson.

Sport ministry and NFF knows what they are doing cheesy
They want the stadium to decay to the stage that when they are awarding contract for the renovations, everybody go smile and dey alright grin
Thank you very much, you know what they do and as far as no one is punished for the negligence of the facility it's business as usual.
Same reason they won't allow a private company to take over the management and utility of the facility.
There are people who are employed and paid monthly salary for the maintenance but no one works and no one gives account.
And if govt doesn't pay them salary for not doing their work same people 'll go protesting non payment of salary, then NLders will start romancing their keyboards insulting the president. That's Nigeria for you.

It's a no brainer. Nigerian leaders(past and present) are the most dysfunctional creatures on this planet.

Fulani jihadist poo poooo in Yoruba's mouths cheesy
Hausa fulani keep fooling Yorubas grin.

A Biafran born President named unilag after mko, Yoruba migrants protested against it.

Let Abiola's family maintain their father's stadium abeg.

This is what they call "DANCING ON YOUR FATHER'S GRAVE WITH YOUR FATHER'S KILLERS".

This is an insult to MKO Abiola.
A TOTAL INSULT.

Naming UniLag after MKO was a very prestigious & noble gesture...

UniLag is located in the commercial nerve centre of the nation & is one of the mostly culturally diverse tertiary institutions in Nigeria owing to its location...

Yet it was rejected by the very people who were requesting for a befitting gesture for the man at the time...
Why do you people think in such a backward manner? huh

So according to you, naming one university campus in one single SW state, is more prestigious than naming a whole national stadium sitting on several acres, which has the potential to play host to several international events and multiple foreigners, at the centre of the nation's capital city?? shocked

Within the next few years, what are the chances that the foreign press and international media would likely cover a major football match, or an international sporting event at the Abuja International Stadium, than a local event hosted at UNILAG? High, right? sad

Can you quantify the exposure that would come out of such international tournaments being covered by the foreign press? shocked

The honour done to MKO Abiola in naming the Abuja stadium after him, is greater than the one that would have been done to him, if UNILAG was named after him.

Stadiums can be renovated, once there is a will on the part of the authorities, and a budget provided for that purpose.

Money spent on sports in this country, exceeds funds spent on tertiary education. Just think about it.

They will come and tell you these are 1900 pictures, that the stadium is as clean as Barcelona’s nou camp now.

They say they are the most educated, most sophisticated, yet one Lifeless illiterate dullard from Daura is shitting of their skulls and having them enjoy it.
Which one, the fact that Nigerians and their government lack maintenance culture or the fact that a facility that cost 360 million dollars was named after Abiola? I just wanted to understand the source of your frustration so that I can know where the anger was coming from. You are confused

You dey mind dem? shocked Some people don't use their brains when they want to make an argument. Airports have been renovated in the past. Stadiums too, can be renovated if funds are made available. It's no big deal. undecided

But the jokers are not looking beyond the current status of the stadium, or the potential it has, for publicising MKO's name to the rest of the world, if international tournaments are held within that stadium.

Lol...

You chaps are funny.

So a national stadium that hosts events once in a while is more prestigious than a world renowned university that functions year round, has produced thousands of scholars, has lecturers presenting seminars & papers all over the globe & has been in existence for over 40 years?

Lol. Funny you...

LEAVE BIAFRANS out of this.
BIAFRANS even voted for Abiola.
Most YORUBAS here are not happy with such resolution.
It demeans the academic spirit of the Abiola people know.
Let’s face the reality.
It’s condemnable.
That place needs TOTAL OVERHAULING.
Stop being TRIBALISTIC here.
MKO won’t be happy in his GRAVE to entertain such a GORY SITE.
UNILAG commands more respect

Go and tell that to the abiola family. The stadium can be renovated, yes or no? All unilag alumni rejected the renaming of the school and had their reasons for it. Unilag is not only for yorubas. If they say they dont want the school renamed, face front. Whether the stadium is gory or gorilla, that's their headache. Why cry more than the bereaved. Everyone knows iPods are hateful cursed animals. They will continue to remain bitter all their miserable lives.

Stop being too partisan. Every sane human being will condemn this total neglect. Naming the complex after Abiola is not the issue here, it's the rot of what should be considered national pride. And it's an insult naming MKO after an abandoned stadium. Haba.

I just Hope you won't maim someone this night..?

Nigerians and our culture of nagging... All I sees here are just bushes that can be clear in just one day...if my dad own this will i not be able to clean it up talkless of a whole federal govt. As far as there are no structural damages the place can be ready in a jiffy when its needed. Just blame the NFF for not using it.

My own suggestion is that they look for a responsible church to manage the stadium for free use of the facility and anytime there is football match to be played the church will make the stadium available.
I believe there are churches who will gladly take over the maintenance of this stadium for free use of the facility.

It's a win win for government since they lack direction
