laudate:You're very dull. The term world class is subjective and was used by me to connote it's outstanding reputation over the years. If you don't know the meaning of a word, don't start arguing about it. That's by the way. The fact that you can comfortably compare unilag to that zoo proves your idiocy beyond reasonable doubt |

Buckubuck:Na wa, o! Your dullness has no comparison, yet you have the guts to label someone else as dull? Let me laugh very well... Your own idiocy deserves a medal.UNILAG had a good reputation in the past, not anymore. Using the word "outstanding" for UNILAG today, would be a gigantic error. ![]() It is better for the school authorities to know the truth, and rectify the situation than for people like you to keep bathing UNILAG with hype, and attributing qualities to it, which it no longer possesses. ![]() Oga, go back to the dictionary and check the meaning of the word "outstanding." Then honestly ask yourself, if that university can still be described in such terms.... |

laudate:Awww... You are reverting to your base nature... That of a snivelling dolt... After castigating your Alma mater you are trying to back track. That's your headache... If you don't want people to quote you, then do not be the first to quote them... They have the right to respond to you as long as they want since you were the first to butt into their business... Look who's talking about pretence... lol... |

Buckubuck:That chap is just running round in circles. It's a simple matter that he is trying so vaingloriously to defend. It was a choice between the National Stadium Abuja & UniLag... its not as if it was a big deal, most people were only concerned about the dilapidated state of the stadium, hence the discussions in the first place. He is so out of tune that he doesn't know that 95% of the top ranked universities in the world know UniLag. It might not be as prestigious as higher ranked universities, but it is well known enough to be reckoned with anywhere. |

ivandragon:And he even claims to be an alumnus. I doubt that anyway. Either he was admitted through runs or he failed so miserably he got broken by the school. But I can't imagine a decent and normal human being glorifying a dump site above an institution that granted you your first and second degree and where you spent cumulatively six years of your life. That's an extreme case of madness IMO. |

ivandragon:Backtrack? In what way? Oga, the pain you are going through because of my words, is making you imagine things that don't exist.Stop taking panadol for UNILAG's headache, o! Only those who truly love the school and are now appalled by what it has now become, can speak the truth about it in such clear terms, just as I have done. ![]() Now, carry your bad belle elsewhere, and for the last time, get out of my mentions. Is that too much to ask, hmmn? ![]() |
| Re: Inside The 'Abandoned' Stadium Named After Abiola - The Cable by laudate: 9:09am On Jun 16, 2019 |
Buckubuck:E pain am! I can talk about my Alma mater the way I have done, because I can see that it is no longer what it used to be, so that the those in power over there, know how far it has declined, and they can fix it. ![]() Unlike you who believes in hype, empty praises and deceit,. I prefer to call a spade, a spade. ![]() And as for my degrees, I had one of the best results in my set, at both undergraduate and PG level. Just pray, that you get to my level of achievement in UNILAG, one day. Because you still sound like a JAMB candidate, seeking for admission.... Now go forth, and wallow in pain once more.... |

laudate:I can almost hear your high pitched snivelling from here. Lol. You are just running around in circles & constituting a nuisance to yourself. You are the one still quoting me, get that into your fake abroad schooled skull. Bad belle for stating my opinion that UniLag would have been a better way of remembering MKO? You are certainly under the influence of delusion. Like I said, you can rubbish your Alma mater just to prove your deluded point, that's your headache. |

Buckubuck:Don't mind the fellow. He doesn't understand what obtains in the academia. UniLag presently has about 10 Fulbright scholars grantees & is an affiliate. That alone attest to the fact that it is well known, which is the crux of the matter. If UniLag was named after mko, every day around the world, there would be reason to mention that name, thousands of graduates would bear that certificate & hundreds of then would use it to achieve varying levels of greatness... But the chap doesn't know what that means. |

ivandragon:Nah....there is no confusion. laudate:with due respect sir, what is wrong with unilag as per standard? |
| Re: Inside The 'Abandoned' Stadium Named After Abiola - The Cable by Nobody: 10:45am On Jun 16, 2019 |
laudate:Your story is empty, doubtful and just boasts. While you're ere ridiculing unilag, credible alumni like john momoh, Jim ovia etc got together and opened an ICT centre in the school. The VP was at the last convocation lecture to speak about the past success, present challenges and future prospects for the school. A useless nonentity like you with questionable results is here online trampling that same schl in the mud. I attended lautech. Despite it's challenges, I'll never denigrate it the way you do unilag. I guess that speaks a lot to your level of reasoning. How I wish those aforementioned can see how you're denigrating the school and comparing it to an abandoned site. I'm sure they'll clap for you. |
| Re: Inside The 'Abandoned' Stadium Named After Abiola - The Cable by Nobody: 10:59am On Jun 16, 2019 |
ivandragon:Are you even sure he graduated from unilag? I don't expect a proud alumnus of a foremost institution to be so brutal in denigrating it so. I suspect he's either a failed student or, his certificate is oluwole. Alumni of unilag in 2012 rejected GEJ's directive on the premise that the name unilag was a brand, highly respected and recognised worldwide and to change the name will be to rob it of some of its prestige gathered over the years. This dude is now telling us those alumni were wrong. I really doubt his claims I tell you ![]() |
| Re: Inside The 'Abandoned' Stadium Named After Abiola - The Cable by ivandragon: 11:49am On Jun 16, 2019 |
Buckubuck:In fact, I don't just get the chap. This is a simple matter of people expressing their opinions. Some like him feel naming the National Stadium after MKO was best, some others feel the UniLag renaming was more befitting... It's a matter that shouldn't have elicited more than 1 or 2 quotes, after all, the FG did what he feels was right, so why he is running down UniLag to prove his point is absurd. Its a like a man belittling his mother just to please his girlfriend... It makes no sense. UniLag would have embodied the concept of remembering MKO because graduates would have carried that name with them for life... Any achievements would have been traced back to the Alma mater thereby gaining more prominence, just look at the present VP & SotH, both alumnus, look at Oby, former world Bank VP... Look at Adeboye, look at elumelu... There cannot be talk about those people without referencing their Alma maters... But in my humble opinion, a stadium does not carry that same resonating effect... Who remembers the stadium the golden eaglets won the gold in Atlanta 96? One has to Google it to even recall... When footballers are remembered, the first thing is the name of the club they played for & throphies won, not the name of the stadium... Sports facilities are 'stagnant' structures with no resonating effect beyond their specific intended use at that specific point in time. Its not as if the Abuja stadium is the largest in Africa or the finest or the most utilised... There is nothing spectacular about it. I don't think it's even in the top ten largest stadiums. It's certainly not the finest in Africa... So what's unique about it? However, an educational institution like UniLag, resonates beyond its structures... warts & all, Its name resonates beyond its primary purposes of education & character... It produces thousands of 'replicas' that would hopefully go on to great achievements... |

Buckubuck:Oh I love this! No matter how much it upsets you, I remain a bonafide graduate of UNILAG and a proud Akokite. It is something you cannot erase, no matter how much you wail in pain about it. ![]() I will not pretend that all is well with my Alma mater, when I know it is not. I will not lie about its' current status, simply because it offends people like you who want to play the ostrich. A million Osinbajos, hailing 'Lag to the highest heavens, will not wipe away the fact that standards in the institution have declined, (like in every other public university in Nigeria) and it's days of glory have waned. Now, all I have done is to proffer reasons why the stadium would be a better way to immortalise MKO, than the renaming of a university. But in your deluded mind, you chose to interprete it, as belittling my Alma mater. It shows how minuscule your thought processes have become. ![]() Last time I checked, people were free to disagree on topics, or any subject of interest on this platform. No law says two individuals must share the same perspective on any issue. ![]() But shallow people like you would find such things, hard to understand. The stadium has been named after MKO, and not UNILAG. There is absolutely nothing you can do to change it, even if you dish out insults from today till tomorrow. Deal with it. Or hug a transformer, if it continues to make you uncomfortable. ![]() If it continues to bite you, you can propose that your own Alma mater should be named after MKO.

laudate:Bla bla bla... After speaking out of turn, you are trying to repair the damage... The stadium has been named after mko, Kudos, let those who feel UniLag would have been a more benefitting validation of remembering MKO have their say. You can continue your pointless bickering. |
