When it comes to issues of public health, you choose the greater good. Of course, it's not just the responsibility of their own Dr, but the public health officials.
Contact tracing of all their sexual partners should ideally be done, but of course like with all things in Nigeria, it's not.
Once the risks of the disease to the patient and others is so much, it outweighs the rights to confidentiality, and the Dr / hospital/ public health officials have an obligation by law (at least in developed worlds) to notify necessary parties. I'm pretty much sure it's same in Nigeria but our agencies don't do their jobs well.
