Just heard. AFCON over before it started. Who would be a replacement player? I believe we have the option since the tourney didn’t start.

Prayers up to Kalu and co.

Samuel Kalu is mow stable according to reports, however, his AFCON dreams may possibly be cut short.

Semi Ajayi for the replacement? If at all.

Training Report – How Super Eagles Lined Up In Penultimate Training Session Ahead Burundi Clash
June 21, 20190393

Ahead of their first game at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations , the senior national team of Nigeria had their penultimate training session behind close doors to perfect strategies for the game against Burundi.

Owngoalnigeria.com however obtained exclusive details of the training session which lasted for one hour, fifty five minutes and started with the players having their normal drills before engaging each other in a practice game.

Coach Gernot Rohr appears to have made up his mind to have Daniel Akpeyi in goal and a back four of William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Ola Aina and Jamilu Collins.

In midfield the decision to play either Oghenekaro Etebo or Alex Iwobi with the duo of John Obi Mikel and Wilfred Ndidi appears to be the only decision that is giving the coach a reason to be worried but for now Etebo is‎ ahead.

This Samuel Kalu situation further underscores the mass misinformation and unnecessary hysteria that mars Nigerian news media. Whenever sharing news articles here, proceed with caution and exercise sensible judgement.

Besides, wishing good health to all our players.

TheGoodJoe:

Look at Mikel and Okocha. Two brilliant tens. Look at their style of play. You will see Okocha is more reliant on his individual skills to break defences and midfields, while Mikel is aware of the positioning of almost every player on the pitch. Mikel knows when the wing back is overlapping, when the defensive midfielder is off position. When a striker is making a dashing run to space.

Mikel is more tactical than a technical player because he relies on the team's tactical play to excel. Not that Mikel is not technical on the ball. He is also brilliant but that is not where his game lies.

Same with Okocha. Okocha is also tactical but more technical.

So as I said, we have both in various degrees in each player but if a player like Ronaldinho, Okocha, Dhorasoo, Recoba, Denilson, Neymar, Hazard rely more on their techniques than tactics, we class them Technical players.

Players like Scholes, Keane, Pirlo, Gerard, Xavi, Oliseh and Xabi Alonso that rely more on their tactical efficiency, we class them as tactical players.

While your explanation is clear and detailed I still insist there's hardly anything known as a "Tactical Player" in modern football. Good spatial awareness from very good players like instinct, positioning and stuff (which are honed in training) yes but as for the "Tactical Player" tag. Nah. Not buying.
