Me: it was highly recommended by my uncle who happens to be my sponsor.
I also did more online research about it. I was also able to visit the school on one of my visits.

VO: Did you pick any other sch?
Me: yes . University of Texas in Dallas

VO: what made you go with this school (University of Dallas)
Me: The recommendation from my Uncle. They offer a course I want to study Information Technology and management which happens to have a detailed course content that Aligns with my career goals.

I was honestly caught unaware. I wanted to speak then I stuttered and I started again.
I responded : The tech industry in Nigeria is a booming sector . After i obtain my MSc in Information Technology, coupled with my Bsc in Computer Science and the work experience I have gathered as a Data analyst , I would be equipped with more knowledge and experience bla bla. ( honestly at this point I lost composure )
To be qualified and fit to work in reputable organizations and also my contribute to my uncles tech company ... bla bla

She asked the question again
Why this course?

I had to find how to repeat myself but I know and remember that I didn’t repeat what I said earlier word for word ( and it’s very possible that what I said earlier wasn’t satisfactory, hence her reason for asking again)

She then interrupted and asked

What companies are you looking to work in when you return ; I said Microsoft, Intel, ( I feel like I should have mentioned just one organization) to make it seem like there’s a certain organization and post I’m looking to go after when I return with my MSC

VO : on your last trip to the US did you stay with your Uncle . I said Yes . She was the one that used her mouth to say UNCLE ( and I actually remembered that I’ve been asked this question either on my DS-160 for my B1/B2 or at the point of entry during one of my visits to the US and it has always been my Aunty)
I now said and also , my AUnty . We are also related. In the most hasty tone ever

preparation is key , this was a below standard responses. look at previous transcript and prepare better. i recommend you not to fill another Ds160 as rush but take a deep breath , understand the process end to end , prepare then apply

I don’t understand lie and cheat how? There is no lie there. I am using my other email and all my details will still be the same. Just figured it’s an opportunity I have before my sponsor will change is mind. And I plan to finish my master before getting married or else my husband will not Alli me. So it’s sensible

We can't answer questions about YOU ..we don't know why you chose it

If you don't know how to find those reasons then think about your interests and goals (relating to that course and Nigeria), attach them to the course and its benefits..and put all that in one convincing (and concise) statement

You're the best person that can answer this. It has to come from you naturally so you don't loose composure that day.
So ask yourself why am I going for this course? Beyond visa interview, the answer to that question will be vital long term.

SUBR over Florida A&M and Texas A&M ........ didn't you receive funding from the other 2......or did you lie about the application?

Try defer your admission till Spring/Fall 2020....... I applied to the same course as you. Shoot me a DM, I gat some info for you

Good afternoon everyone. I was just granted an admission at Austin Peay State University but I also applied for graduate assistantship and I have not gotten any response about the GA yet. Should i wait a little or start sending mails the departments I applied to?

I think you were doing fine until you got the question about how you will fund your program, even though your response were a bit generic,
is the balance on your uncles SOA 3 or more times the deficit? submitting multiple SOA doesn't help, it even proves you don't have the funds required to study in the US.

For future students the first question you should ask yourself when you decide to apply to study in the US, should be how would I fund this education. if you have a rock solid answer to this, then you can go ahead and write GRE and put in applications if you get funding it makes even more easier for you.

Finally Are you aware VOs read this thread, you just admitted you lied about NYSC.

Ignorance just played all over in your interview.
I don't know if you think the interview is a TV show.
You put your Dad as sponsor and went with your uncle's SOA and still went ahead to mention your Dad.

I feel you're too desperate and your lies are unnecessary.


What's your total deficit?
What's the closing balance on your uncle's SOA?
How much does your dad have on his SOA?

You need to put in more effort in practicing for the interview.
Your response can hardly impress the really inquisitive VOs.
