My candid advise is for you to enter Canada with the visitor visa and while you are here, gain admission and apply for study permit.
PS: both study permit and visitor visa are referred to TRV (Temporary Residents Visa)
raymege:
Morning House, Please I already have a valid Canadian TRV(Visitor Visa) and intend to apply for a Study Permit,
Please anyone here that has done(applied after a TRV) that or in the process right now?
Also, I think that should make the process faster and easier .

He can't apply from Canada with a visiting visa. He shouldn't waste his time, even if he applies online he will have to go back to Nigeria for biometric and also submission of passport (if CIC request for it). Let's stop giving the wrong advise please

Hello people,

Oh well....Nothing is happening on her portal....this silence is too loud.

A visitors visa is equally a TRV (Temporary Resident Visa). Its a non-immigrant visa.
Yes he is correct to refer to a visitors visa as a TRV. A study visa is also a TRV.
Please what's your point (with respect to what I wrote)?

In the context I wasn't wrong, the visiting visa the applicant got can't be used to get a study permit. If you or him didn't read my post or maybe find it difficult to comprehend then I can't help you guys

Excellent information sir but this your English is headache- inducing! You need to work on it, especially with respect to your academic pursuits.
Please I say this not out of scorn, but from utmost concern!

We shot ourselves in the foot. We nigerians only care about ourselves and nothing more. This third world mentality is really killing us because we think we can just come up with fake documents and not get punished for it.

Some nigerians will get a visiting visa to the US after showing large amount of money in the bank statements just to get US visa and after some weeks they show up at the Canadian border to seek asylum .

Now, Canada alerted the US immigration and border Control about these developments. US has pulled the plug now and they now verify bank statements and is even harder to get US visa now .

This is affecting all of us and the nigeria government is not helping at all. The Chinese, indians, philipines are smarter. They have student loans for student who wish to school abroad and GIC deposit which allows their citizens to deposit living expenses to a Canadian banks before applying for canadian TRV.

Hello, i am about to apply for my visa, paper route. While filling the questionnaire, there is a place that they wrote "do you intend to work in canada"? Should i tick yes or no? It comes before "do you intend to study in canada". Please i need urgent reply as i am about to submit my application this friday

It means your application is more than 9 weeks, but there is no need to worry except if you have received the BVL. I have learnt to be scared of that thing if no medical call yet. Meanwhile, please house let's advice this moniker for I am only but a learner

Hey that question is very coni, the truth is that some programs require that you work as a student. Therefore, kindly check with your skol, program and the admission letter to see if it states that you have to work.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Mudicua: 7:06pm On Jun 26, 2019
You cannot apply for a study permit from within Canada if the program is more than 6 months. So there is no need to go this route because he will waste money for travel. Canada is not like the US where you can change status from within the US. For Canada a study permit can only be applied for from outside of Canada.
He should just do his application from naija to save himself the stress.

@Mudicua is very correct.

Although you can apply from Nigeria inside Canada ‘if’ you have a valid medical result done in Nigeria, Biometrics running for 10years and haven’t stayed or currently staying in Canada for Less than 6months. So everything will be fine but bear in mind that background check will be done.

I understand how you feel, the best is for you to go back to Nigeria.

A friend of my here in Canada invited his Mom for his graduation ceremony, The mum was in Uk for a short visit because of that she did her biometric in Uk, Visa was approved and passport request, submitted and Stamped in Uk.

If you are in Canada on Visitor Status and you have applied for Study Permit if passport request showed while in Canada you can submit it in Canada.

Another option is when the Visa is Approved you can pick the study permit up in the Land borders.

My wife has change from visitor to Open work permit in Canada land border, I changed my study permit to PGWP in the land border without SOP much documents to convince the Land Border Officers.

Na my case i dey talk oh.

The question stated, is work essential component of your study?

What you will need to do is to check your admission letter and read it line to line to see if your program has a mandatory practicum. If it has, the admission/acceptance will come with a letter to apply for work permit along with your visa application, then tick for yes.

To whom it may concern

Information got to me and I was told that it’s on VFS website that if you have been exempted from taking biometrics with the current one lasting the next 10years with the new development starting since mid 2018 with CIC and VFS since September or November 2018, you will have to pay around 14k for passport transmission after PPT request for approval. (Online route)

But newly applicants are exempted from it with the receipt of the newly taken biometrics fees.

Pls confirm this news on VFS website.

@shadypoza01, the above is for you.

Inasmuch as all said is very possible with exemption of the bolded words, it’s clearly written on the website that you should go back home to apply.

Nevertheless, the White pple are the only being that will create a problem and still tell you how to solve it.

They created the laws and still give you how not to follow it.

But all cases are treated differently like you said.
