CHAPTER ONE Nanya rushed out of the house with her goods packed up in a bag, it was a Monday morning and she knew she was going to get stucked in traffic if she didn't hurry, she came out from her house and looked at the fleet of cars parked at the garage, she shook her head wishing she could go out with one. She got to the junction where she normally stay and sell her wares, she brought the bedsheets out one after the other as many as her hand could carry. "God please send plenty customers today, i stayed all through the weekend giving this bedsheets these designs" she muttered as she raised the bedsheets up to every car passing by. Louis hissed as he realised that he was going to miss the board meeting if he didn't get out of the grid lock, he checked the time again, it was 8:15 am. His phone rung and he answered on the first ring. "Hey Charles, where are you?" He asked letting out a sigh. "Am at work already and the meeting is in 10 minutes time but you are yet to be here" Charles queried. "I know Charles, am stucked in traffic, i never knew this road will be this frustrating, I have never plied this route before. i think i will miss the meeting, just represent me, i will be there soon" he replied. "Okay then, see you later," he hung up. Louis let out a sigh as the car before him moved giving him a little space to fill in, he hissed, looked up and saw a lady holding bedsheets up, and as his car moved slowly, he kept on looking at the designs of the bedsheets. "Wow, they are beautiful, which company designed those" he spoke to himself as he kept looking at the young lady and the bedsheets, he didn't realize that he had stopped moving until someone shouted from behind accompanied by honks from different drivers. He quickly moved still having the designs in his mind. 8 Likes |

Nanya got home smiling widely, she had sold almost all her bedsheets, she would buy new ones and design the ones she could, just as she was about opening the door, she noticed someone move beside her, she turned around and saw her younger sister chisom standing beside the door. "Chisom, what are you doing here?, You should be inside your room" she asked dropping her bag on the floor. "Sister Nanya, am hungry, i have been waiting for you all day" she replied tiredly. "What did you eat when you came back from school?" She asked her. "I ate nothing and am so hungry" she whined. "Wait, you mean you have had nothing to eat since you came back from school?" She asked again to be sure. "Yes, I have not eaten anything yet" "What of mom?" Nanya asked. "She has been around, when i told her i was hungry, she said i should wait for you to come home and not disturb her" she explained. "Oh God, i wonder when this hatred would end, what kind of a mother is she?" She sobbed. "Sister Nanya, mom hates us, doesn't she?" The twelve year old girl asked. "No, not at all chisom, she doesn't hate us, she is just busy with her company that's all, now let's go inside so that i can prepare something for us to eat, am hungry as well" she said dragging her sister along. Mrs Charity Obidinma was seated in the living room going through some files when her daughter came in and gave her a signal that she would want them to talk, she eyed her casually and continued with what she was doing. "I want to talk to you mom" Nanya said placing her hand on her waist. "What is it", Mrs Charity replied still fixing her gaze on the files on top of the table. "It is about the hatred you have for us, i understand you hate us, but that shouldn't be enough reason for you to watch chisom starve, she is still a kid, what kind of a mother are you?, Other mothers would give anything to make sure their children feed well, but you? Are a total opposite" she angrily said. "Now listen to me young lady, you should be grateful that i was kind enough to let you and your sister stay in my house, i won't have you talk to me like that or else you both will find yourselves in the street" she concluded hissing. "Don't worry, am working so hard to get enough money so that i can rent an apartment and leave your house for you, you are not worthy to be called a mother" she scoffed. "You better do that because am tired of seeing your faces in my house, have a nice day" she stood up and left leaving Nanya all alone in the sitting room. 4 Likes |

CHAPTER TWO "Where are you going to Louis?" Charles asked as soon as Louis diverted to a different road from where they had in mind. "Relax Charles, there is someone i want to see at the new Haven junction" Louis replied stepping on the accalerator. "Who is the person?" Charles asked. "A lady, you need to see the designs on the bedsheets she was selling, they were beautiful" Louis said admiringly. "Are you sure it's just the designs that were beautiful or did you also notice the lady" Charles sneered. "Of course Charles, I noticed her, she had bedsheets with a beautiful design and as an interior decorator, designs are something we shouldn't miss" Louis answered pulling over by the road side. "Why did you stop then?" Charles asked looking around. "She was just at this particular place on Monday when i Saw her, where could she have gone" Louis wondered. "Maybe she doesn't stay here permanently, or she isn't around today" Charles shrugged. "I guess i will come back some other time then because i can't get those designs off my head" he replied turning on the ignition. "I need to see the designs too, i want to see what is driving you crazy in it" Charles said letting out a sigh. "Don't worry, once i find her, i will bring the bedsheets to you, you will scream too" Louis giggled as he drove off. "Happy birthday sommy love" Nanya screamed hugging her sister for the umpteenth time. "Thanks sister Nanya, am happy you bought me a cake" chisom said rushing to the kitchen to get a knife. "Alright, make a wish" Nanya said smiling. "I wish that God will touch mommy's heart so that she will love us the way Mary's mother love her children, Amen." She said before opening her eyes. "Who is Mary?" Nanya asked. "Mary is my classmate, and her mother loves them so much" she replied sticking the knife in to the cake. "Common chisom, mommy doesn't hate us, she is just busy with work, don't ever assume that she hates us" Nanya replied wiping the tears that threatened to fall. "But she doesn't treat us like her children" she said further. "Come let's cut the cake, am sorry, I couldn't get you a gift" she sniffed. "No problem sister Nanya, you got me a cake and your time, i know how much you value your business but you left it to be with me today, thank you so much, you are the best sister anyone can ever have" chisom replied going for a hug. "I promised Dad that I would take care of you and protect you, you are the only sibling i have" she replied caressing her hair. "Thanks all the same" chisom replied smiling. Nanya watched as her mother was been interviewed on the television, who would ever believe that Mrs Charity Obidinma, the owner of the biggest media company in Enugu state was actually her mother and she was selling bedsheets along the road, she shook her head and eyed her mother. "Okay ma, so what relationship do you have with your children?" The interviewer asked. "Well, am so close to my daughters, am just the perfect mother for them" Mrs Charity replied giving out a fake smile. "What?, Perfect mother my foot, i bet you wouldn't like to tell them who you really are" Nanya hissed turning off the television. 3 Likes |
