I hate what he stands for. Simeone is not fan of the game. Never will I be a fan. I am talking of him losing did not mean his philosophy can not win titles.

As for supporting him? Nah. I do not even like watching his games.
cup competition is different from league format any mistake you are gone. Amunike did not manage the game properly.
what do u mean by negative football? football is football there is no single way of setting up and playing the game, the aim is to win.
that you are not a fan does not make the style of play negative or bad there are still so many fans in love with it.

Not every footballer from Africa is playing in the Premier League and Iheanacho's blessings will shine above your hateful, evil wishes for him to fail.

It is evil to pray and wish a man failure.

The World knows Iheanacho is a flop .... Sorry but no sorry if it kills you

That is why I am me. I believe in the possessive offensive system and believes it needs time to grow. I believe negative football masks the true strength of a team and with time the weakness shows. More like the team losing quality, while to possessove/offensive grows with time.

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Belgian First Division A side Racing Genk are on the verge of announcing the signing of Nigeria international Stephen Odey.

The FC Zurich striker has arrived in Belgium to undergo a medical with the Belgian champions and they are planning to unveil him as a new player of Racing Genk as from tomorrow if he passes his medical.

At least four clubs were interested in signing the former Mountain of Fire FC star but Genk is where is heart is as he is keen on playing in the Champions League next season.

Odey has agreed personal terms with Racing Genk, paving the way for him to undergo a medical with the club.

The 21-year-old started his career as a right winger but eventually ended up being a striker due to his goalscoring qualities, and is blessed with both power and pace, and has the ability to shoot.

Last season, Odey scored 15 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions for FC Zurich and set up three goals.

Hmmm! Slow and steady wins the race. This guy could go places.

Yea,, he said something along those lines..

Taribo was definitely not using his true age.

In his older years, he relied a lot on his football brain and experience.

I don't know why a journalists has not asked Pastor Taribo about his pastoral calling, ministry, challenges because of his faith and finally ask him for his true age?

everything changes with time either for good or bad. How come Spain is finding it difficult despite their constant offensive style?
the true strength of a team lies in the type of players in the team. there are players who are better suited for conservative play. It is for the coach to realize the type of players in his possession.

Getting sacked is not the end of the World. Klopp left Dortmund after very terrible poor form that got the club at one time to relegation position. Today, he is a champions league winner playing good football.

Yes you are correct, getting sacked isn't the end of the world. But the example you gave about Klopp, was he sacked?

He's far from the truth, is football all about attacking? What about the defensive side? We score 2 our opponents score 4 or we meet a better team who are able to cage our attack and they pound us 4 na weytin una like abi

Calm down. Your blood is getting hotter

True, a good defense could win games especially against stronger opponents. The Greek team that won the 2004 Euros come to mind. However, scoring more goals can aid one in qualifying from tight groups even if as best looser. Remember when we were all permutating for the Super falcons. Truth is, if they had scored more than just 2 goals, it would've made things easier (even though they eventually did qualify)

Against Burundi, we passed well particularly in the 2nd half.
If u want to talk about how SE has improved under Rohr state things that are clear, not debatable.

We matched Spain well. We were a good side and defeated them fair and square.

However, I believed their philosophy was right and it was only a matter of time before they succeeded. I remember myself falling asleep with sadness when France knocked Spain out of the 2006 World Cup.

The philosophy was perfect but the result did not game. Two years later, the won the Euros and two years after that the World Cup.
we were good but it was still an upset, @ France vs Spain 2006 France had the better game in the second half, still one of my best zidane moment

Giroud worst pass though he was crucial in Europa League.

If the ban is not lifted he has no choice to use him and some academy players.

Don't forget he excelled with young players last season.

EGYPTIANS LAMBAST NIGERIA FOOTBALLERS OVERFREQUENT PROTESTS

some Egyptian fans feel the frequent reports of protests by Nigerian players about non-payment of match allowances and bonuses are not doing the African continent any good.

Within the last two months, Nigerian teams taking part in international competitions have protested over alleged non-payment of entitlements by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

From the Flying Eagles’ participation at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, the Super Falcons involvement at the yet to be concluded FIFA Women’s World Cup in France and the Super Eagles’ campaign in the Egypt 2019 AFCON, it has been one squabble over alleged unpaid allowances or another.

At the Cairo Stadium on Wednesday night, where the Pharaohs of Egypt defeated Congo 2-0 to move into the round of 16, the issue of Super Eagles’ protests over unpaid wages was the major topic by some of the fans.

Those who spoke with The Guardian carpeted the Nigerian players for turning their participation at major championships into ‘one competition, one protest.’

“This is becoming too frequent an issue in Nigerian football and I think it is not doing Africa’s image any good,” one of the fans, who identified himself as Ali told The Guardian at the Cairo stadium.

“As a national team player, I think Nigerian players are not behaving well by bring issues of unpaid allowances and bonuses to public domain every time they are on major competitions. There are other countries taking part in the AFCON, and it is only Nigerian players who are crying loud over unpaid match allowances. We had such situations recently with the U-20 (Flying Eagles), who refused to vacate their hotel after crashing out in Poland. It was followed by the Super Falcons in France. Now, we are hearing that your players (Super Eagles) are complaining in their hotel in Alexandra. I believe it is not only Nigeria that has financial problem. Your footballers should think of how to help your nation grow because playing for the national teams help their career as well.”

Ali continues: “Here in Egypt, Mo Salah is not getting much in terms of financial reward from the national team, yet he has built schools and hospitals for the people. He even helped the government in fixing the roads. That is what your players should be emulating, not issues of unpaid bonuses and allowances all the time.”

Another fan, Emerek said: “I am sure your players are always protesting because they feel the officials are making so much money in the football house. In that case, I think the government should try to sanitise the system.

But to be sincere, this issue of protest by your national team players during major competitions is becoming a major embarrassment to Africa.”

AFCON 2019: WE STILL HAVE NIGERIA TO THINK ABOUT - MADAGASCAR COACH.

The Barea won their first ever game in Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) history and also kept their first clean sheet in the competition

Madagascar coach Nicolas Dupuis is overjoyed after his team recorded their maiden Afcon win on Thursday.

The island nation defeated Burundi 1-0, courtesy of a fantastic 76th-minute free-kick from Marco Ilaimaharita in their second Group B game.

The victory at the Alexandria Stadium comes a day after Madagascar celebrated their 59th Independence Day.

After seeing off the ‘tough’ challenge from Burundi, Dupuis said he is pleased with the team's hard-fought victory as they edge closer to securing a spot in the last-16 round.

“I am so happy because of this victory. It was our first in the history of the Afcon and we worked hard for it," Dupuis said after the game.

"It was not an easy match because Burundi gave us a tough time especially in the second half.

“But we can be proud of our efforts, we can be proud of what we achieved but the work is not yet over. We still have Nigeria to think about.”

Madagascar are second in Group B with four points after two matches, two points behind leaders Nigeria.

They face the Super Eagles for their final group fixture in Alexandria on Saturday

ETEBO: MIKEL ALWAYS MOTIVATES US ON AND OFF THE PITCH

Of the line-up that started Nigeria’s 1-0 win against Burundi last Saturday, coach Gernot Rohr dropped five players in Wednesday’s second Group B match against Guinea, including his influential skipper John Obi Mikel.

The Chelsea legend who is participating in his fifth AFCON was dropped in favor of Alex Iwobi in the play-making position.

Stoke City star Oghenekaro Etebo has revealed that Mikel always motivates the players whether or not he’s on the pitch.

‘’I must tell you he is a good leader, quality leader for that matter even when he is not on the pitch, he always encourages everyone,’’ Etebo said in the mixed zone.

‘’The most important thing is that every team that wants to succeed sticks together because that’s what the manager use to say, whoever is playing or not.’’

The Super Eagles have been brilliant in defence so far at the AFCON, posting two shut-outs in back-to-back matches, but have struggled to break down the opposition having scored only two goals.

‘’The most important is that we get the three points, you saw the game between Ghana and Benin, they had a a 2-2 draw. Even if you score one goal and you have three points, it is very important and it’s vital.

‘’That doesn’t count if you score three, four or five goals, the most important is to get a win and three points,’’ added Etebo.

On the Super Eagles advancing to the last 16 with a game to spare, the Nigeria number 8 said : ‘’I am excited about it, not only just me but the nation is excited about it.’’

NIGERIA TO PLAY ANY OF GROUP A, C OR D THIRD PLACEDTEAMS

Lagos – The Super Eagles will play their Round of 16 match against any of the third placed teams in Group A, C or D, if
they top Group B of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria currently top the group with six points having won the two games played. They defeated Burundi 1-0 on Saturday and also beat Guinea by the same margin on Wednesday. Madagascar, Nigeria’s last group opponent on Sunday are second on four points. They drew 2-2 with Guinea last Saturday and beat Burundi 1-0 on Thursday. Guinea are third with a point, having lost a game and drew the other. Burundi with a mathematical chance of reaching the Round of 16 provided they beat Guinea on Sunday are pointless having lost the two games played.
According to the tournament fixture, the team that wins Group B, will play one of the third best placed teams in either Group A, C or D.
After two matches, Uganda or Zimbabwe or DR Congo may place third in Group A, while in Group C, either Kenya or Tanzania may place third and likely Group D third placed teams remains sketchy since they’ve each played a game. The group D teams will play their second games today.
Commenting on this, Taiwo Oloyede, ex-international says, “The Super Eagles should be prepared to face any team if they hope to lift their fourth AFCON title this time around in Egypt.
“The players are there and the technical crew should be able to get their acts together and use the best selection for the team’s matches.”

ROHR WANTS NO FURTHER DISTRACTIONS AS EAGLES FOCUS ON MADAGASCAR

Super Eagles Head Coach Genort Rohr wants all the distractions caused by the dispute over allowances to be settled finally before Nigeria roll out tank against Madagascar in the last Group B clash on Sunday.

Speaking yesterday in Alexandria, the Franco-German gaffer said in as much as Nigeria has began the group phase very well, nothing should be allowed to put a wedge on Eagles good fortunes.

“I hope that the things that were decided yesterday (Wednesday) will be done so that everybody can focus on the next game (against Madagascar),” he stated.
Rohr insisted that the decision taking on Wednesday by Eagles before the game against Guinea, should help to stem any further bickery over bonuses and allowances.

Leganes of Spain defender Kenneth Omeruo’s header in the 73rd minute off the corner kick by Moses Simon was all that Nigeria needed to pick maximum points from Guinea’s Syli National and the ticket to the Round of 16.
