That leg issue has to do with the owners maintenance. My colleague owns a Toyota Sienna and you won’t believe that the rear left tyre removed from the body while he was driving. If you go for the Hyundai you will surely enjoy it.
Your colleague and his mechanic needs flogging. They're careless.

Hi Team,

I am looking at buying Acura MDX 2004.

*** I'm concerned about the fact that it's 3.5 litre.
*** Lagos traffic is a challenge for me as I work on the Island.
*** What do we think about the cars maintenance, durability, etc.
*** The Tokunbo can also be gotten cheap and that's why it's an option.

What other option do I have?

Look forward to your counsel.

Op, SUV and fuel economy don't go hand in hand. They're big heavy have high ground clearance and as such, they'll need to burn fuel to drive.

That’s what I’m telling People that there’s nothing like a bad car. But a bad and careless owner.

If fuel economy is your major criteria, then the 2004 Acura MDX is off your list. It also requires premium fuel and since we don't have that locally the fuel economy is a challenge too.

Other SUVs you can consider are 4 cylinder rav4, CRV, though I don't understand what you mean by leg issues. If it's just regular suspension noise etc, you can fix but if it's the "leg pull" as they call it, then I say you are good to go. The CRV is ok as I ve used it and also owned rav4, V6. Others are Hyundai Tucson, 4 cylinder toyota Highlander, Ford escape Kia Sportage and Mazda tribute.

Why do cloud your sense of reasoning whenever people criticize the brand, Mercedes Benz? It simply shows you are a child.

I have a Mercedes Benz leg pull, same way as the Honda Accords do pull out.

Again it all boils down to maintenance.
You better kip quayet. I have been using Mercedes Benz for over twenty five years no leg pull ....sell your cars and acquire bicycles.... But then the legs will still pull...why you're freaking careless

Yes! Fuel economy is important as I consider myself an average earner and want to be able to use the vehicle everywhere.
My last vehicle was a Civic 05, hence I know what it means to save fuel.

Thank you for helping.

Stop putting fuel economy as priority.
Your monthly fuel cost can be spent in a single kazeem visit if you buy a useless car like the Honda. Acuras are better built.
Consider the downtime ... The embarrassment of leg pull... consider wading through water, consider the car that can do all these with just elevated fuel economy as the cost!

Hence you save some kazeem workmanship!
Save costs of parts for useless brands like the Honda!
You save downtime spent on repairs!
You save yourself getting stranded and entangled in security dangers prevalent in Nigeria these days! (Even nurey was almost kidnapped inside one useless Toyota/, Nissan by robbers in a V6 VW!)
So bro it should never be just about miserly fuel economy or mundane things.... Think bigger!!

I support the MDX!!
Nice, but u can talk more intellectually without using curse words sir.

The 1st and 2nd generation Crvs are okay. Be careful when buying Nigerian used.
You can also consider Kia soul (high ground clearance and good fuel economy).
Hyundai Tucson is also good but won't set the pad racing. Since fuel economy is top of your list, then I'm sure you wouldn't be racing the car then.
If you stay in Lagos, you may consider the Mitsubishi out lander.
The highlander with 4 cylinder holds its own in fuel economy. Used to drive an uncles 09 model then in lag and it was surprisingly economical with fuel.
Aura will not give you what you want in terms of fuel economy and the 1st model had transmission issues and radiator issues where it mixes coolant and trans fluid.
In all, go with a very competent mechanic to inspect the car thoroughly before purchasing.

Its slow off the line, lethargic. Makes an already boring car even more boring. Yes. Its reliable very very reliable I used mine 4years and it was my daily driver, always going places and doing things. But then, be careful its engine isn't that rugged. Its got a defective engine.

Coming from a civic, the last thing you will dream of doing is jumping to an MDX that guzzles fuel and requires premium fuel to run.
Try something smaller as suggested by others and stay away from the MDX.

If you can get premium pms, then the Acura might be a good choice........

The 3.5 is a bit juicy, but on motorway cruises, the VCM kicks in, shutting down some cylinders, saving your fuel........

CRV is more fuel economical than Santa-Fe. CRV is 2.4L i4 engine and Santa-fe comes in 2.7L i4 and 3.3L V6 engines

Yen Yen...driven a 2014 CRV. If you have a lead foot, don't near it. Haven't driven a Santa Fe yet but I know a couple who own the V6 and its there everyday vehicle. They never complain about the fuel consumption and the lady drives quite fast.
