Good day guys,
I work online as a freelancer on fiverr. I'm currently seeking a cheap town or place in Nigeria that I can get good supply of electricity (at least $12 hours or more). This is to enable me do online jobs and cut cost of buying petrol.
I would prefer somewhere cheap where I can get a decent self contain accommodation for around 70k. Also, I would like a place that has good security.

There's an old thread similar to this opened by a freelancer a few years ago but sadly I can't find it.

Please give me suggestions. I hear oshogbo is good choice.

Any other suggestions? Be as specific as possible. Thanks.

Sorry, but there is no cheap place in Nigeria that has security. Even the places where rent is expensive can not guarantee security all the time.

Which model of WhatsMiner?
D1?

If you don't mind, can you answer these questions for me...

How can one get the mining hardware and what's the profitability like excluding cost of electricity?
If possible, what's the power consumption of one of the hardware so I can factor my electricity costs relatively.

Do you intend using a script on the machine or running it normally?

I will appreciate your response.

come to Gombe and enjoy at least 18hrs power everyday and accommodation and cost of living is cheap you can ask corp members that serve there

18hrs is least in places like Orji to tumfure ,most times more than 30hrsb4 an hour or two interruption. But I perceive Gombe is out of his catchment areas.

I use 18hrs to generalize power supply in the whole of Gombe but just like you said some areas like Tumfure, orji, Ashaka enjoy 24hrs supply

Oshogbo is your destination
Re: Seeking A Cheap Town With Good Electricity Supply In Nigeria by deleson: 11:14pm On Jun 30, 2019
Just some thoughts before you proceed on this search.

1. Fiverr, just like any other venture, is not an assured source of revenue. I'm quite sure you're not a Top-Rated Seller there with over 5 years consistency of $500 minimum per month. Possibly, I'm wrong. If not, then rethink and put this move on hold.

2. Where do you currently reside and are there existential challenges to your continued abode there? If not, continue to stay, work and earn more from there. You can lay-low, earn more and launch out in a bigger way. Except you're way overaged and your current residence isn't accommodating any longer, please calm down. The burden and responsibilities of staying alone with an unassured, unstable single income stream aren't palatable.

3. Have you thought of diversifying your earning capacities from Fiverr to other freelancing platforms?

4. Do you have an offline business or earning capability at the moment, such that should anything happen to your online streams you can fall back to something in the physical?

5. As you know, nothing is stable in Nigeria and the response time to social anomalies is forever in Nigeria. So, what happens if two weeks after you've relocated to a supposed 'constant electricity area' there's a fault with their supply? Would you relocate elsewhere or what? You need a backup plan.

The standard rule of rent payment is that your two months earnings (max. three months) should be able to cater to your rent. Anything above this depicts trouble. Also, you'd need almost times three of the cost of getting the apartment to get it furnished and decorated for habitation. So, consider the end before the beginning.

Don't be in a haste to start what you can't easily sustain. Your 70K budget depicts you're not financially buoyant to finance this adventure.

I wish you all the best!

Wow! This sounds so sweet.

I'd wanted to get a two/three bedroom apartment in Gemade due to a friend's recommendation, but two things deterred me; the traffic on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway (from Oshodi to Dopemu/Iyana Ipaja) and the structures of the houses I viewed on Google map.

On the day I was going there to see the agent, I realised there was so much traffic on the side of the road for those coming out of the town. So, I had to turn back and told the agent I wasn't interested in the area again. Didn't see myself driving through that traffic to go to Ikeja or Victoria Island for work.

What's the average rate for a two bedroom in this your area?

What you need in summary, is stable electricity for your freelancing business.

You can easily overcome your electricity challenge by getting a solar system and cut off generators and petrol from your life completely.

Visit elektrifysolar.com and drop a request mail lets help you

Wow. I made front page. Thanks for all the responses guys.
God bless the mod who moved it to the front page.

hi, my suggestion.
buy a small laptop power bank (comes with 300w inverter), it costs between 35-40k. buy a 150w panel, costs less than 30k. connect both together. both are available from various vendors on jiji.

if you have like 6hrs of PHCN supply per day where you are presently, you are okay. the Powerbank will charge via PHCN and also with the solar panel.

you can buy LED bulbs, 2nos of 3w LED (like #450/pc) should be okay for lighting. a fully charged power bank will run your laptop for at least 8hrs. you can use the power bank while its charging from the solar panel.

this is cheaper than your costs of relocation. and whenever you do decide to relocate, these stuff are portable and easy to transport.

Godspeed.
