Iwobi is overrated. And many are better than him including Tau

And maybe, one or two Madagascan players grin

Capiche
Of course. Just like Tau is better than Zaha and Pepe because he performed against Namibia and in the MIGHTY MIGHTY MIGHTY Belgian second division.

grin grin grin grin grin grin

one thing you fail to understand is that every team is beatable. the world is full of surprises so i see no reason you have to in shock that madagascar won nigeria today. few years ago south africa hosted spain in a friendly encounter in your country and won by a lone goal so does that mean your team is superior than theirs? you drew with seychelles away during the afcon qualifiers does that mean seychelles is on the same level with your bafana bafana?
so that's how it is now? You were all over the place when we were beaten by the Ivory Coast, a far superior side to Madagascar, I also don't recall saying Madagascar were better than you they simply proved you're aren't as good as you think you are as you also laboured against Guinea Bissau and that other team.

Nicholas Pepe is a superior player to Tau. His records at Lille point to that. He also performs well for his national team . Including Zaha

Iwobi is not unfortunately.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! so since finidi and co retired nigerian have not been able to qualify for the world cup, olympics and afcon?since finidi and co retired nigeria have not been able to win afcon and bronze and silver in the men's football competition in the olympics?

listen, the success of nigeria for the past decade is the investment made on grass youth football which the dividends are obvious judging by how many players the nff u13s have produced from the year the program kicked off. over 80% of players who emerged from the scheme are with the national teams be it u17,u20,u23 and the super eagles. do you have an idea of how many nigerian kids that leaves for europe annually to sign contracts with european top academies?

i think your fa should borrow such idea rather hyping your league always
IronGalaxy:
I also can't remember when last did Nigeria had a decent team. Definitely the Finidi George era. The current crop are just Europe journeymen. Keep boasting about who plays where whole the likes of Madagascar keep walloping you as.ses

So Tau hasn't performed at the CWC, didn't boss the CAF CL but according to you I'm to accept he is better than Iwobi because he performed in the Belgian second division and against Namibia - yet I'm slow?? LMAO!!! Next time don't make comparisons that doesn't make sense.
We might as well say Tau is better than Zaha and Nicolas Pépé then since he's performed better in AFCON so far.
Yes he is. Iwobi doesn't show up for Arsenal and for Nigeria and Tau does for both club and country.

This convo is running in circles now. I think iwobi is average and that's what I think. I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings man. I'm tired of saying the same thing over and over

Iwobi is better. He is two years younger and his records also show it.
That's why Arsenal can afford to give him a new contract after getting 25m bids while Tau is playing in the second division at Belgium.
If Iwobi is overrated - so is Tau. Tau wouldn't even play as much as Iwobi if he was at Arsenal.

that means chukwueze, onyekuru and oshimeh are all miles ahead of tau because this kids who are just in their early twenties did marvelously well in their respective european team and have attracted top teams.

oshimeh have been linked with a move to milan, lille and ajax, onyekuru is been linked with teams in laliga, chukwueze is wanted by barca, liverpool and bayern.

bonaventure dennis who is a standout performer in the belgian top tier in the colors of club brugge is yet to bed capped but he is highly rated and regarded in europe than tau. this arsenal, lyon and feneberch have been linked with him. mind you he is just 22 and plays for our u23 nd plays for our u23 team

Not my problem. If he was as good as you say - Brighton would paid more than 10m which would've helped him get a work permit.
Why didn't he go to a better team?

Finally..... Fans are tested and reality is becoming Order of the Day. We keep hyping when we should have been on low-key and patiently following the Team.

We keep underrating other Teams and already claiming the Team is unbeatable. We've seen the Light, ain't surprised some Dudes are doing a Humility on Rohr.

We should never be wary of any Team. The Team should be more focused and tactically be ready for any Opponent in the next Round.

I wish Eagles best of luck.

We need kelechi nwakali in that team. He is a good attacking midfielder. Players like lukman Haruna and rabiu ibrahim should have been invited for the friendlies to see if they are still good. The team lacks attacking midfielders and creative players. The problem is the players we need are not playing for top european clubs and we make this mistake of thinking that once a player is not in leicester he is not good. We even have an attacking midfielder in our local league (i have forgotten his name). The creative side of our game needs to be worked and this fixation with European football needs to end.

I also suggest that we need to play with two attacking midfielders and not one. I mean kelechi nwakali can compliment Iwobi in midfield so as to increase our creativity. Our Journalists need to celebrate creative players and not just wingers and goalscorers. The team is not technically balanced. Also, there is a strange dependence we have on Mike Obi which is outdated and based on his performance in 2005. This is dragging back our football. Having the best striker in the world is useless or limiting if you do not have creative midfielders. Players like kevin de bruyne and lucas modric are needed in this team and NOT players like Gabriel Jesus. You dont get good tires when the engine of your car is not working.

Football is about technical depth and balance and not star players. We have lacked creative players since Okocha and this is psychological. We often REFUSE to invite creative players into our team because of "Mikel Obi mentality". This loss is a blessing in disguise. Rohr should have learnt. When the team played with Iwobi as an attacking midfielder for a year, we played well.

We are wasting Kelechi Nwakali right now because he does not have a good club. This is funny. WE NEEd CREATIVITY IN OUR MIdFIELd.
at least for now, iwobi and maybe chukwueze should be encouraged. At lease, they are the most creative players we have. Mikel is a defensive midfielder/deep laying playmaker and NOT A PLAYMAKER. We need to get over this Mikel mentality. If not, he should be dropped. Egyt has won the nations cup with home based players. There is an urgent need to search for, encourage and groom creative players for our national teams. If not even Ronaldo will not help this team. Just look at Juventus in the champions league with Ronaldo.

Hard to tell who'll come second in Ghana's group. Still quite open. It can still be any of the 3 - Cameroon, Ghana or Benin.

In any case, the winner of our next game will meet Egypt (if they win their round of 16 game) in the QF. That doesn't sound like dodging a bullet to me. And if Algeria keeps winning their games, they'll be next in line for the semis. If Morocco and Cameroon top their groups, we'll not be in their path to the finals. Same as Senegal. Well, to win a tournament, you have to contend with the best teams at some point. And maybe I'm looking too far ahead - let's win the next game first!

On a more hopeful note, concerning the victorious 2013 Super Eagles squad, I'm not sure most of us were greatly optimistic of the team during the group stage. They were not quite inspiring and only managed draws against BFaso and Zambia. They came second in their group. Confidence was restored when they defeated the Ivory Coast in the QF. That came as a shock to many. But the team were motivated to prove critics wrong after they had been written off by many. And they went on to claim the grand prize.

So maybe, just maybe, we are in for a pleasant surprise. I don't know how, but this would not be the first.

TheSuperNerd:
It may seem unpopular Dad... But dropping Iheanacho, even though deserved, was possibly one of the mistakes Rohr made. He is the only natural SS we have and is our best setpiece taker. I have said it long before now... Nacho is key to this new golden generation and will be back to continue his contributions. This is just his nadir point and he must rise to be counted worthy again.

All the same... We await whoever we are bound to take on now.

Solace earlier today did a pathway check to the final had Nigeria finished first. He said a potential quarter final meeting with Cameroun awaits and if we survive that, then a potential Semi final game vs Egypt awaits. Could we have dodged a bullet with this loss? Loolll... Time will tell
