He has a good point, Eagle match is not worth watching; you would develop H. B. P while watching them.

The Super eagles don't have formation in the eyes of haters. Nonsense.

Learn to control your emotions in everything.
Nigeria got world football bookmakers wrong because of the poor performance against Madagascar.
Give it to eagles!
Who pass nai know book.

Smh... He was making sense till he mentioned God. So, God was against Ghana yesterday? God chose Madagascar over Nigeria?... Let's stick to football please.

The only reason we are still in the competition is because Cameroon were not tactical enough, and lacked game management... A very technical, tactical, and attack-minded team will slaughter the misfits donning green white green jersey.

If we win this Afcon, I won't celebrate so much... I will honestly accept that African football has been fully laid to rest.

My views will change if these guys start playing as a team of Eagles we grew up to know and love.

Huh

These guys are in the quarter final, negative energies like this should be far away from them.

Teams that qualified with 9 points in the group stage are no where to be found, cut these guys some slack.
If we all are after the score sheet, Livescore is always there to answer us.
Holland 2005 during Mikel and his team days, I cried when we lost to Argentina be we all can see that the team played well, Korea Japan wordcup nko, we took on England, Sweden in a beautiful way, don't even talk about Atlanta and other old times, now compare the anywhere belle face game they play now to those games

Then you should wait till we are out.

We are still in the competition.
Some times, winners don't really play they just win.
You dont get it do you?
The ajax u saw playing so well was down to johan cryuff's anger that they abadoned total football and the changes he and other ajax ex players made
Winning a tournament is great(brazil last two world cup wins was the worst footie they ever played yet even they still played with a pattern)
We used to play dutch style football and it suited us cuz of our pace and skill
Now u cant even be sure of how we play

This team is certainly not good.

I don't understand the problem with us blacks in terms of development.

Take a look at Spain who won the Euros in 2008, went on to win the World Cup in 2010 and I think another Euros in 2012.

Exactly a year ago, we had a team we admired in the world cup. Even though we went out in the group stage, most Nigerians were impressed with their performance especially against Iceland and Argentina who prevented us from going to the next round. Just one year down the line, we have a struggling team that cannot even beat Madagascar. We were just fortunate to defeat Cameroon and I just hope South Africa does not expose us. I would have rather played Egypt and this SA team.

A defeat to Egypt will be less painful than a defeat in the hands of SA.
Think of victory not defeat

Una too critical. Na Egypt with mo. Salah and all their thousand Pharoah dem turn guest for their own house.

Some teams will hit the ground running in competitions, some take time to pick and boost. There comeback against Cameron show we have the mentality for the big games.

This is sports analyst criticised Westerhof from 89 to 94 when he testing players that fit his perfect team.
People kept shouting how can a coach use 50 players to qualify for the tournament that he needs only 22 players for bla bla bla.
But the man testing and dropping poor performers and addition new discoveries until he found the perfect combo in 1994 that shook Africa and the world.
Then, everyone started applauding and hailing.
This is why black man will always be behind the white man. White takes his time to study, analyse, construct and deliver but black is always in a hurry in the false believe that he knows what he's doing. The end however, is failure and complaints and blame game.

what is your point about blacks? the same Spain you allude to won the world cup in 2010, the euros in 2012 but could not get out of the group stage in world cup 2014 and have not done anything major since then. Are they blacks?

Nemo dat quod non habet. You cannot give what you do not have.

This group of very average Eagles players are probably over-achieving sometimes. For around a decade even. Like winning AFCON in 2013.

We just do not have the quality of 1990 to 2000.

fergie001:
Former International, Adegoke Adelabu has said the Super Eagles’ unstable performance at the ongoing African Cup of nations (AFCON) in Egypt has made them an unpredictable side.

Nigeria progressed to the quarterfinal of the competition after a 3-2 slim win over the defending champions, the Lions of Cameroun played at the Alexandria Stadium in Egypt on Saturday. Nigeria ended the Group B of the AFCON as runner up, losing 0-2 to debutants, Madagascar, after beating both Burundi and Guinea 1-0 during the group stage of the tournament.

However, the Eagles bounced back by sending the defending champions, Cameroun out of the AFCON in the Round of 16. Speaking to The Guardian yesterday, Adelabu said the Eagles always come up with surprises when you least expect something good from them, adding that one cannot say specifically the tactics and formation the team has adopted so far in the championship.

“By now, people are supposed to have understood the Eagles, especially the one we have in Egypt. And that is the major problem we have about our national team that has played four matches and yet you cannot pinpoint the strength of the team. “It is at a time when you have lost hope in the Eagles, that you will see them spring a surprise by performing one kind of wonder. You won’t even know how they did it because all you know is that they have won the match. How they did it remains a misery because you can’t be able to say it,” he said.

Adelabu added: “As a sports scientist, I was trained to read matches by Eagles’ former coach, the late Otto Gloria. He helped me on how to read matches and from there I developed interest. I know a team that is planning and a team that is not.

“The only thing that is working for the Eagles is that whether they plan or not, any team that wants to beat them must control the game. We win even when we don’t know how they did it. This is because once their opponent makes any mistake, you just see them score.

“I always believe that God looks at the emotions of Nigerians and decide to give them victory. That is how you know that they don’t have any plan because you won’t see any tactical plan or changes in their games. All you see them do is run round the pitch and the next thing you see them scoring cheap goal(s). I think God always uses these wins to compensate us.”He said it is still a mystery that the team have had modest success even when they have not worked for it.

“How can you sit down to watch your country play and you cannot look at the team and say this is what they are doing from the coach’s inputs. These Eagles are just playing with the emotions of Nigerians because Nigerians’ expectation is high based on what we have achieved in the past. I know one day we will get it right,” he stated.

I disagree with this because God is for all, i hate when people bring God in sports as if others don't believe in God.

Football has gone beyond what this man thinks ... if you understand the science of the game ... he will know that not having a tactics is a tactic on his own ... there is so much “organization in disorganization” ...we grind result where it is necessary .. we have won all our important matches recently except the one we play with the Mad boys ... believe me that team will beat any team at the moment cos they are fired up already .

Adelabu should go and rest ... with time this team we gel and play decent football ... 95% of African team plays disorganized football and and if SE play in an organized way to disorganized their disorganization we will end up losing it’s better for us to combine disorganization and organization style of football .

I can’t blame this team much cos it’s not built around any player , so it is easy to see them as unorganized side .

One of our pattern lately ;we pass the ball around and wait till one of our attacker make a run forward ... they give him the ball to do what ever he can do to achieve something ....formerly our traditional pattern is to operate from the wings cross the ball in from the wings and any of our player can make use of their head ...the likes of Adepoju , Pappilo and Amunike ...and that is typical style of the super EAgles , that style is easy to stop just stop the wingers and automatically it means you have stopped the entire team .. their is more to movement pattern now and ... Eg . Chukwueze movement caused the Cameroonian defenders to run after him ... forgetting their primary assignment that leads to our goal ... is that not a tactic?

Using our wing back to attack and the midfielders ,moving backword to protect their position is also not a tactic ?

What the Supers Eagles need at the moment is more tactical approach to game and ‘this require more of scientific approach .

Eg :players movement pattern
Positional play .
Mental strength .
And ability to read the game very well .

The tactical aspect of it will be done by the coach ...

Eg . Formation change
.... tactical changes / bringing in tall player to replace a short one . Etc

Switching formation as the game progresses

Slowing down game tempo

Crowding the midfield

Spreading to the wings ...

And lastly their is software application to each and every match now it’s a shame our coaches are not using it and maybe them Dey use am we no Dey see am . and it has to do with science of the game combined with tactical approach ... cos the data u receive on your screen is what determines what and what should be done to counter every move and approach of the opposing team ...

Also u can manage the strength of payers and the team .

Cos it’s easy to know the player that is not combing the grasses around

Adelabu should go and rest not having a pattern at the Afcon level is the solution to Afcon competition ...

You head is there! Gbayi!

You nailed it all. Excellently. I would love to speak with you.

One small part though, trust that the Nigerian National Team has that software - yes they do.

I saw the Egyptian staff using it, not during match o - but well before matches. It requires 10 hours to analyse one single game. Every single player, every single move of every team. I don't know how or who does it for Nigeria - but I know they have it.

las las, a poor and disjointed Bafana beat them plus their 75,000 supporters. You need to see that stadium. It is like playing against a team in Hell Fire. Egypt wears red. The fans wear red. The stadium is like a huge cauldron of excavated earth. So you can imagine that South Africa, for all the organisation and resourcefulness of the hosting Egyptians, literally picked the chestnut out of the Egyptian fire.

That's the only thing you possibly missed. Let the Eagles fumble and wobble if they must, but heck, they are marching - or flying - on. Nothing unites this country greater than football, nothing!
