My interview transcript
Arrived at the embassy in abuja around 7am.
Friendly security men and staff.
I didn't know the woman waiting to interview me will be something else.

So fast forward to the interview

Immediately she saw my passport photograph with Red background, she change am for me o
That my application will be rejected. I sha begged her, and she said if it gets rejected, that I am on my own.
Pleaded with her to let me send another set of passports after the interview, she said no. And you know abuja na, before you even see where to snap passport, you go Don Waka taya, so I decided to just go ahead with the interview

She arranged my documents herself.

She checked my originals, and gave me back. But kept my international passport.

So the interview questions were the normal stuffs

1. What's your course of study
2. Why did you choose this course
3. Of what benefit will this course be to your career
4. What do you know about germany. I told her a lot about german economy, she then said I should say something about Germany politically
5. What do you intend to do after your studies?
6 who is sponsoring your studies?
7. Have you funded?
That's all.

Guys that woman in abuja isn't friendly.
I asked other people at the embassy, and they said the passport photographs doesn't matter that since they took my biometrics, i'm good.

Na God hand I dey so. God help me.

They retained your International passport?
Do you have any other country passport stamp on it?
Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 6 by MicroMo: 9:25pm On Jul 09, 2019

Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 6 by MicroMo: 9:28pm On Jul 09, 2019
Just the normal Ghana togo, benin, Ivory Coast stamp... that was when I travelled by road last year to ivory coast, and yes they retained my passport

Hello peeps, So I'm still in the process of making payment to uniassist for otton von guericke madgeburg for MSc. and the application deadline is July 15th. Was wondering if this july 15th timeline applies to the online application on uniassist or to the posting of documents to them. Also, must recommendation letters be from lecturers? Can my boss give me a recommendation letter?
that is the deadline giving to applicants but you can still go ahead with the payment one thing with uni assist is that if ur deadline passed without processing ur doc de will refund your money back to you. You can get recommendation letter from ur boss as well.

Update from my call to the Lagos Embassy

This news shouldn't stop u from putting ur calls across as well. Let them know we are waiting. Cos this is an important issue that needs to be addressed soonest

Please and please you ppl should not call and call the embassy. Honestly things are not done that way. You need dates and setting more chaos for them wont help. Let's relax. It will end in praise.

Madam don't say anyone should relax, I sincerely didn't expect this from u or anyone else. If u are not in other's shoes shouldn't make u insensitive to what they are passing through. We really don't need to relax at all, cos all is not well.

Talking about chaos no one is rioting or making a big deal about this. We just want our voices to be heard in a calm manner. Simply to remind them that we are hanging here, they shouldn't forget that we all haven't forgotten interview dates yet, n we are still waiting for a date.
Is that too much to ask?

Someone suggested "we all should put calls through to the embassy, make them aware of our ordeal and tell them the possible solution to it. They should format the booking system and leave only those that have their interview in the duration of 1 week"

This is one sided. Mind you most people with AD have AL. (,correct me if I'm wrong)

For those who are canvassing for our voices to be heard. I Still feel if you have any issue contact the embassy not making plea for a public rant. Im not sure if granting visa is a fundamental human right.

People who have passed through the system are suggesting for a calm approach. I guess their period was more demanding than this. We are all under pressure but let's be rational before making decisions that will mar future prospects

My opinion.

Good Day All,

Vielen Dank für das experiences, tips, etc being shared on this thread. Kudos to you all!

Please is there anyone who studied/ currently studying Petroleum Geophysics at any Universität in Germany?

I would like to know how lucrative the course is over there. Most of the courses that is being offered by universities is Exploration Geophysics (with their emphasis on geodesy, electromagnetism, etc having no direct correlation with the oil industry).

Please is there anyone with useful info to this question?

Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 6 by Glowing1: 12:34am On Jul 10, 2019
To make things clear last year winter was not demanding, in fact, it was d easiest in terms of visa interview date, all u need to do was send ur passport data page, fintiba confirmation n AL, that's all u need to get a date. I got mine in 2hrs time the same day I got my AL. I was part of last year I got an AM, but my BA wasn't complete so I had to withdraw till this winter. No one as at last winter will tell u they waited for 2 whole months before getting a date.

Believe me this winter is something else
1. Last year winter there was nothing like cat A or B. 1st class didn't av special preference compared to 3rd class or those going for a B.sc like it is now.

Don't mind people telling u to calm down n not call or email, Abi do they expect you to fold ur arms or play ten ten. I tire for some kind advice here. They don't understand how it feels to wait for date for weeks n then weeks turn to months. They've never experienced that before, Cos some of these people are already in DE or done their interview n expecting their AM or waiting for AL, so they really don't understand ur plight.

U that av enrolment for Aug/Sept, which is just a month or 2 from now n still haven't gotten a date, don't follow them o. Follow ur instinct n don't let anyone dictate for u. If u need to call or email them to remind them of ur date fine n if u don't fine. No one is forcing anybody to do anything. Cos assuming this people advising u to relax are presently in ur situation, this Nairaland would Av turned upside down by now.

Don't mind those thinking we are ranting, na badbelle dey disturb them. Cos there's no room for ranting when u call, is just to smile over d phone n remind them of date. So why do u think there's a line u can always call when u av any pressing issue.

Give this ur 100% n don't follow every advice u come across on NL.

For me, I called made my point n didn't rant d lady was nice over the phone.

Let's keep our fingers crossed n hope for d best. I wish everyone success from those expecting AL to us expecting AD n finally those expecting AM. God almighty shall crown our efforts with success as we await bountiful testimonies n his name shall be praise. Gods willing we all will enter DE this winter. That's my every day prayer for us.

In as much as I really feel for the guys without AD. Ma concern about you as regard this, is that. where have you been during the confusion saga about category A or B, also during when suggestions and discussions were made about booking ahead without AL which few persons did. Why were you not proactive if really you have been following up and also matured in this stuff with your last year experience
Someone who called rightly confirmed here that the Consulate said they are aware of the AD issue and presently working on it.
What else should someone tell you rather than to be hopeful and exercise patience.
If you feel bombarding the consulate or foreign office with calls and mails is the best, there isnt any wahala cos nobody can stop you. But be careful how you go about it just as you've drop mail of the foreign office boss.
Being smart and proactive in any of your trys isnt a bad thing. If they had requested for AL, that would hav being another ball game. But when they didnt, its just to make use of your head just as few did.
For me, I made sure i got ma AL before getting late AD
We are truly with all without AD and joining our faith with ours for victory in the end
Best wishes

I am honestly sorry for telling you not to. Start a movement ,# them, fb them call them. Do all you want. But remember one thing the german government really owes us no explanation(your government does). I have family members on this waiting list too. We are also looking for other sensitive ways to tackle this matter. I told them to channel the energy in learning the language.

You forgetting this is a public forum you have x2 ghost members that are active . Averagely its reported the embassy gets more than a 100 calls a day for this matter and that's not chaotic enough.

You cant burn a bridge that you gonna pass tomorrow.

Once again I am sorry . For being insensitive.

The only person that can give you the answer you seek is the program coordinator. Some schools do a pre check stuff kind of while some will evaluate your grade, curriculum vitae to ascertain your work experience so far and your motivation letters to know how passionate you are. So in essence, this boils down to how good you package your application and more especially the grace of God.

As regards your course, quite interesting and exciting, there is this course done by rwth Aachen ( Applied geophysics), guess it rightly suits your interest. From what I learnt, the course do have sponsors from shell, Halliburton etc if you perform excellently. The job prospects of course is very very good. If companies are coming in to look for students to sponsor for the program then that should give you a clear indication, and the school itself has a lot of connections with several industry giants. For the program, you will be doing the course in three world class universities in Europe, one in Eth Zurich (Switzerland), one in tu Delft I think (Netherlands).

If the course interest you so much, I would suggest you get very close to the program coordinator. Infact find a way to make him or her your friend. Try to communicate more often and express your burning desires when given an opportunity. Above all, I would suggest you be very prayerful, in all your ways acknowledge Him. Delight in the Lord and He will grant you the desires of your heart. God directs the heart of kings (decision makers) wherever He pleases just like the flowing waters. I pray you get your heart desires, become successful and be a blessing to your world. All the very best. Shalom

Bros abeg no put fear for the guy body, Lol. The usual practice at Abuja embassy is they collect your passport after interview and return all your documents to you as opposed to what is done at the Lagos consulate. This has been the practice over the years as far as I have known.

As regards the stamping, it's normal if you travel to our West Africa neighbors with your passport, people who don't have to pay something to be given a pass. And moreover I don't think embassy will be is interested in such as its not schengen countries or some other high profile countries of the world.
