We are learning actively sirs.

If we leave this Wahabis Guys. Muslims would just be blindfolded to all the reality of life, and we are the owner of Knowledge.

Unadulterated knowledge can only be learnt through the part of TASSAWUF.

May Allah increase our knowledge and make us steadfast on his path.

Many people would hate sufi, it is not funny. When a small child falls sick, he wouldn't want to visit the doctor because the child hates the doctor, it may be because of fear of injection or so. BUT a grown and mature mind would know that he needs to consult a doctor When he falls sick.
So the people criticising sufi are the little children. They won't want to visit sufi because they are very lazy to carry out all our daily routine.

I love this thread, u just have to be knowledgeable to cope with people here, Ive been reading many books online now just to feel among here. This is what we should call slaying in religion not my teacher say this and that. My sheikh in the house may Allah continue to increase u in knowledge and Maarifa oo. Just that in nigeria we abuse many things which limit people of proclaiming Sufism publicly even people with knowledge. I pity those who do not read what a great loss to their soul. Ive drank from the ocean of love, may I not go thirsty forever bi izzini llah

What's your opinion on this whirling practiced by some Sufis?. For me, I think it is cultural than religion bcuz this practice is not known in West African countries. It appears to be Turkish culture that found its way to religion.

If it is culture then it should stay there rather than making it sounds like it is from Islam which is not.

Your take?

The whirls of the whirling dervishes is not an Islamic practice, but more of a local practice or custom that was popularized by Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi, hence particular to Turkey.
It is more of a symbology, to depict what may sometimes be hard to put succinctly into words.
It is a depiction of a portal between heaven and earth with their caps to represent their tombstones, their shirts to represent their graves and the skirts to represent their shrouds.
The shedding of their shirts during the swirls represents the escape from their graves and the raised upper hand represents what they receive from Allah, the lowered left hand represents what they transfer to man of what they receive, thereby making them not to be in possession of anything worldly during their sojourn on earth.
All they are concerned about is their gaze and connection to Allah, which is the symbolic rotation that depicts the rotation of the universe and Allah being the central and only connecting force. This also alludes to the tawaf made over the Kaabah.

Another local, non-Islamic practice is the use of qawwali music by the Muslims of the subcontinent (India/Pakistan). This emerged from the Chishti Order of Nizamuddin. It was used as a means or tool to communicate, relate and subsequently convert to Islam; the Hindus who saw and used music as a strong religious practice.

on a follow up on the above.

Almighty Allah don't talk to man as well as angels directly even Jibreel.

[Quran 42:51:] “And it is not for any mortal that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a veil, or by sending a messenger and revealing by His permission what He pleases; surely He is High, Wise.”

The angels are mortals they would die one day too even angel Jibreel.

Almighty Allah created the Angels originally from light. They move at any speed from zero up to the speed of light. It is the angels who carry out God's orders. Those angels take their orders from a Preserved Tablet somewhere in outer space, and not from God's Throne. They commute to and from this Preserved Tablet to get their orders from God.

These tablets are seen by the inhabitants of the heavens and they discuss this is where your angel of rizk go too to check and all hope you get so as they are discussing and a worm hole opens not necessarily the angels the inhabitants can be gisting about what they saw and all then the Jin picks up one or two waves and decode.

[Quran 32.5] (Allah) Rules the cosmic affair from the heavens to the Earth. Then this affair travels to Him a distance in one day, at a measure of one thousand years of what you count.

Even Angel Jibreel too with so much power and wings his station and sending his messages travel the above distance to reach almighty Allah but he already knows he's the one most Knowing

Please any mistakes are mine and am not perfect it's what's in me I share and might be wrong but am open to learning and corrections.

Sorry for the poor way it's all constructed and out of context/text but makes sense with all what we've been saying.

Please, I have been lazy lately lol. I have a lot of questions about some points you raised earlier, perhaps further discussion will open up more insight from others in the forum.

Firstly, you said above that Allah does not directly talk to Angel but via tablet (lahuu mahfus). But I would you explain this conversion between Allah and Angel.

And when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to place a viceroy in the earth, they said: Wilt thou place therein one who will do harm therein and will shed blood, while we, we hymn Thy praise and sanctify Thee? He said: Surely I know that which ye know not.

There are two ways of acquiring knowledge via knowledge that is externally observed and knowledge that is internally received. This was confirmed throughout Islamic history. @bold, sheikh Adam Al-ilory (ra) said this.

"I am a sufi as long as tasawwuf means indifference to what is with people and yearning for that which is with God. And I am a sufi only if tasawwuf signifies the unveiling of unseen realities and inspired knowledge of God the Creator".

See @bold in his statement, some muslims do have problem with that. That is knowledge internally received

Yes, many Muslims still deny those experience especially the "puritans". But had it been they follow strictly the sunnah of rasullah(saw) the way they boldly make claim, they would have experience same, because is like cause and effect things, in which whenever we strive in course/path of Allah, the Divine Providence automatically take us to that realm when such divine gift started manifesting in one's LIFE.

What is your undersstanding between REVELATION AND INSPIRATION. What's difference? Can Muslims receive "Revelations or Inspiration" from Allah after Holy Prophet(saw) though just as a form CONVERSATION not bringing NEW SHARIAH or HOLY QUR'AN.

I.think the real meaning of these words often confused my muslims nowadays.

With regards to this Empiree has answered and he's right.

Revelation, which can be described as breathing into hearts, occurs within a wide area, ranging from various manifestations to the Master of creation, upon him be peace and blessings, to the inspiration in the heart of the mother of the Prophet Moses, as stated in the verse, We inspired into Musa's mother.
Revelation sometimes occurs as a suggestion through a single sound, gesture or hint, without speech.
E.g So he (Zachariah) came out to his people from the sanctuary, and revealed (signified) to them: "Glorify your Lord at daybreak and in the afternoon " Q19:11
Revelation, in the sense that God Almighty speaks to His Prophets, occurred in any one of the three ways below (42:51):
1.It is not for any mortal that God should speak to him unless it be by Revelation: That is, God Almighty directly puts His message in the Prophet's heart and the Prophet knows that this message is from God.
2.Or from behind a veil : That is, the Almighty conveys His decrees to His chosen servants through their internal and external receptors such as their ears and inner senses.
3.Or by sending a messenger (angel) to reveal, by His leave, whatever He wills (to reveal) : That is, the Almighty charges one obeyed and trustworthy (angel) who is embodied in a certain form.

Thus Revelation is a unique form with a high relationship with God that's Prophethood or Sainthood, it's a form of metaphysical interaction,
Revelation is clear in meaning and it's always witnessed by the one who sends and the one who was sent

Inspiration just like dreams it's open to interpretation sometimes we dream same dream but have different interpretation of it based on how we are and what we facing and what realm we received the message from sometimes it's not witnessed other times it's a means trough which a higher entity in a higher realm who's close to you communicate to you because of the bond you've got but sometimes it comes in parables.

Both Revelation and inspiration indicate the metaphysical, angelic aspect of humanity.

Most times we tend to explain our inspiration based on the Quran and Sunnah and experience we've got, The breadth of the area where inspiration is applicable depends on our scope of knowledge and ability to use it.

Revelation takes place beyond the spheres of the human soul and sensations, and its certainty transcends the conviction which comes from mere knowledge.

Salaam Alaikum,

Let's talk about "iyepe tite" and khalwa (seclusion)

Allegations:

* Iyepe tite is ebo (shirk)? What does iyepe tite entails? Is there authentic version and is there counterfeit version or it is only one version?. Does Islam approves of this?. What's your opinion?.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu8GbNBBAE0&t=24s

* Khalwa: it is alleged that Sheikh Ahmad Tijani(ra) was in seclusion for 40 days or 40 years. I don't know which one. Whichever it is, there is hadith which impedes this practice. The hadith criticizes whoever misses three (3) consecutive Jummah. So does Khalwa means staying in seclusion without attending jummah weekly or praying daily obligatory salat in jamaat invalidates khalwa?. Is this khalwat valid?.

* What is valid khalwa in sharia?
