4 years Bachelor degree but the CIC website states a law degree is equivalent to a Masters/Professional degree. I don't know why WES continues to assess Law degrees this way. I've read some people picked the Masters/Professional degree option on their profile and also chose to state that's what their WES report said even when it didn't. They attached an LOE to their application. I want to do the same but I just want to find out if any Nigerian's with Law degrees have done the same.
Your CRS will be recalculated. I read a similar story on Facebook. Dude evaluated his Pharmacy degree with WES and got Bachelor's degree evaluation but claimed points for professional degree (which he would have gotten if he evaluated with PEBC) . His CRS was recomputed and he fell below the cut off point for the draw of his ITA.

Hello all,

There's something bothering me that id like to share with the house. First to get a closure on it if possible and then for others to learn too. I'm Post ITA and I intend to submit my application before July ending hopefully.

My major issue here is the exchange rates. Initially, it used to be 269 or so, and going by that it'd be 3.4mil for a single applicant. I was working with that and targeting 3.5mil so that anyhow e be, I'd be on a safer side.

This morning I woke up to discover its been up to 277,20 on xe and oanda. That means I'd be looking at 3.5mil and if I still want to go ahead with having a little surplus, that's abt 3.6mil. Way way higher than my initial plan.

This made me do some additional research and I read somewhere that when u submit after ita, the POF is locked on the exchange rate for that day and whatever subsequent increase or decrease in the rates, won't affect what you had tendered on day of submission. I was skeptical abt this but decided to ask how true it is.

I also want to ask a very funny question. If resident in Nigeria, is there a way one can open a special account such that you'd save money IN CANADIAN CURRENCY there. So for example, I safe 12,700 there as a single applicant, so whatever change hpns in the exchange market does not affect my fund, after all its already in CAD? That way, only a review in POF margins can affect my fund atleast while application is been processed.

Thirdly, I have like 60% of my POF in my gut acct, wch I intend to use for the whole financial statement stuff. Then abt 30% is in my UBA acct and I'm expecting the remaining 10% from my brother. My plan is to get the 10% into my UBA, then go pay it in cash, (alongside the other 30% also in my UBA) into my dad's account, so he subsequently transfers the whole 40% to my Gtbank. Then we do the notarization stuff and all that. House how do you advice I proceed? Is it a fair plan? I wish to invest the whole POF in treasury bills. I'm sure I'd be given a certificate and letter of non indebtedness from the bank. Shld I also print out statement of acct?

Finally, my salary acct is with stanbic Bank and I have no intentions of using it for funding? Do I still need to submit statement for the salary account? Event hough its not been used for POF purpose? Same thing applies to my stanbic pension acct. Is there a need to show that too?

I had this same issue in mind this morning. house we need more light on this. and if i may suggest, can one open a dollar account here in nigeria, convert the naira (equivalent to the POF needed for single applicant - 12,669) to dollar, and safe in his/her dollar account. then issue same for POF? is this possible? providing POF in dollar, even while here in nigeria, seeing that the US dollar to Canadian dollar is quite stable than naira to CAD.

Hello good people in the house, I came across this question in trend 6..... It says, does WES evaluate CIPM and other professional Certs without WAEC? but no one responded to that question. May be it was ignored for some reasons but I think that what the person ment was after evaluating other cert with; say ICES and others, can he/ she evaluate professional Cert with WES without going through the rigorous WAEC wahala. just to make up 2 or more cert.
Pls does this require WAEC for all Nigerian Cert both professional and degree.?

Any quick response will help me and others out there.
To avoid story that touch the pocket.
Thanks.

Yes it does require waec. For every certification gotten from any institution or body in Nigeria, you must submit a final transcript of your secondary school.

@LadyKeigh, Please do you now have a contact in ABU for your IJMB transcript? Please share when you get one. I will also let you know when i do. Thank you.

No, I don't, I decided to forego that option. I registered with CES instead of WES. That's going to take the need for IJMB out of the equation.

Hello gurus,

I have a major problem at hand. I plan to marry my girl before diving into the pool but the problem is that my girl was once married until her former husband's demise. Now the problem is that she has been using her passport with her husband's name since then, her ielts is in her husband's name while her credentials is in her maiden name. Now she's thinking of correcting her passport so that it can bear her maiden name. The questions are
1. Won't this correction on her passport invalidate her ielts result?
2. Is it necessary to change her passport name back to her maiden name before we get married and jump into the pool?
3. I want to marry her asap, does she have to get a new passport bearing my name putting into consideration that the new name also will invalidate her ielts.

Gurus in the house come and see to this, I don't wanna leave her behind
3

If she changes her name to her maiden name and when you marry her, she will change it again to your own name?

You guys make things difficult. Leave it as it is. Get married, do change of name and newpaper publication. Submit your application with evidence that you're legally married to her and evidence that her former husband is dead. Write LOE to explain this. Keep your application simple.

So I got my PPR yesterday

ECA: Done with WES

IELTS: First time was enough to get my wife and I up to 440.

ITA: Dec 19th with CRS score of 440. I was initially waiting to complete my spouse ECA but decided to just sit in the pool at 440. Scores were about 420 - 445 so I was just waiting for my wife's ECA to sit pretty at 448. A co-worker just said I should enter and see. I entered and less than a week later I got ITA

AOR: Feb 10th. Took a while to get all my stuff ready, plus I was not willing to spend too much money.

Please, if I have two or more certificates, which of the ECA bodies is the most cost-effective?

Good afternoon, I have been a silent reader for sometime now. Please I have a question, I requested for a reference letter from my former employer and I was given the letter but on getting it I realised the job description, hours of work and salary were not included. I contacted them and they said they can't provide job description, but can give me another reference with my contracted hours and salary. My question now is what should I do considering their not allowing to include my job description?

Good evening all.

Please for those who in the past, used WES for evaluation, is it necessary to include that the ECA report be couriered to me the applicant, that is at an extra cost, along side been sent to IRCC.

I realised I selected that option, and the money was deducted from my account. Please, is there a way to cancel that option and get a refund embarassed, if its not necessary to have the hard copy of ECA report at hand.

Hello I am a Lawyer. I used both WES and IQAS only because I had started with WES before I found out IQAS was better because they evaluated as a ‘first professional degree’. WES evaluated as a ‘bachelors degree’ only. The major deciding factor is how many points you need to get ITA. If your WES evaluation has given you enough points as you have created a profile, then you have no issues. Is it clear?

Thanks but I think I'll stick with my initial plan. I'll go ahead with my WES and see how it goes.

Good Evening Everybody, I have some few questions and advice from the gurus in the house before I apply.

I'm below 30 years, with MSc and Married.
I finished NYSC in 2015 and I started job immediately at one Government agency as a contract staff (End User Support Officer), salary was paid in cash before they open a salary account for all contract staff there (no letter of employment issued). In December 2016 I left the contract job to Lagos State Government as a Secondary School Teacher (Civil Servant).

Why wife on the other hand has a OND in Business administration, after which she attended a Fashion School at Allen Avenue Ikeja (a year program), she works on her own with her fashion brand though using her sisters Registered company name (her sister is no longer operating with the company name because she relocated to UK with her hubby few years back) and we have a kid who is less than one year.

I plan writing IELTS by December believing by then everything about my MSc would have been sorted.

To boost our chances of having an higher CRS point, I want my wife to write IELTS (what score will she have to score to boost our chances?) and WES certificate evaluation. and as regards proof of fund my family have a family account from where the money will be transferred to my account (what will I do make convince CIC in relation to the fund)

Please I need your advice on how to scale through to the ITA stage and subsequently getting a PPR

On proof of fund being locked when you submit your request. I do not think that is true. I know someone that got ADR for POF when the rates moved against him.
Having funds in dollar acct is fine. Note however that it cannot be fixed as investment if it is paid in as cash. Only direct inflows from swift can be fixed as investment.
As per transferring money from your acct to your Dads acct so you can get it transferred to you is good. It would mean you do not need to upload statements from that acct.
It is advisable to provide statement of acct showing salary inflows. It serves as additional verification for your source of fund. Though some people do not and they don't have issues. I don't like taking chances with VOs.
You do not need to provide your pension statement of you are not using it for POF. I do not understand why you are not using it though.
It is better to open and use a USD acct than a CAD. I say this cos the black market exchange rate for CAD is a bit funny.
As per attaching statement of acct in addition to investment certificate. Yes. It's a good idea.
My 2 cents to you and Walecanada.

I get your point. However, note that the VO did not reject his ECA result, which should be the outcome of using the wrong evaluating body. The recalculation naturally suggests that they recognised his ECA for what it is and could only modify his point to match what his ECA suggested.
