Porpor:
I am not here to take sides or hold brief for anybody. I am going to say it as it is.

Lagosismyhome has always been a grand matron on this thread, I salute her for her invaluable contributions and for staying around for such a long time. Some oldies like megrin have often come back to the thread to sing her praises for remaining true and committed. Madam, may you live long and prosper!

If there is one thing I know about you it is your high level of intelligence and being slow to jump to conclusions. Today, however, was an exception. Except you know Sharwarma beyond this thread, it was hasty generalisation to infer that she had poor carriage and "demarket" the female group. I have lived with flirtatious ladies during my college days, these ones are the most unpredictable, and yet disciplined. As a guy, you think you're the chosen one... story for the gods! They have no such interest for you going on in their mind. I later got used to that kind of life and of course understood better. I want to believe that Sharwarma is trying to be a friend to all and may not necessarily be loose. Adjudicating her to be loose or otherwise would make no sense, EXCEPT you know her beyond here. You could simply come out to clarify that you don't mean it the way it has been misconstrued and that could save a lot of heated back and forth arguments here.

While the former has earned her place and respect here overtime, the latter, Sharwarma, has equally made tremendous contributions here within her short spell. Reading her post has always been a delight and she has proven to be intelligent and resourceful too. The mould of comments that has followed is suggestive of a people who are simply hating and hurty. Some have unashamedly called her out in the past for writing long epistles (I mean, what happens when you gloss over her comments and choose not to read them). I don't wanna mention monikers, but for goodness, somebody feels mislabeled and has respectfully spoken out, the least I expected is to see people call her out for toeing an honourable path. Let's be careful not to create a divide or chasm here. These two have made invaluable contributions here; we want them to continue their good job. Some of us simply come here to read comments and get more lights. It is the newbies who lose when others try to stoke the embers of hostility here where there is non.

Peace!
I love your manner of criticism.
The sandwich style.

My Appreciation post

First, I want to return all the glory back to God Almighty for the strength he has given me these past 7months, going through this kind of process hasn't been all easy but I thank him cause he's ever faithful, may His name be highly magnified.

GboyegaD: When I first decided to apply for my Masters in December 2018, I emailed him with my list of schools, I had limited list because I was hoping to write GRE in the first week of February, I told him I had gone through all the Nationally ranked schools on USnews that offered Statistics(about 100 of them) , he looked at my list and told me to go over the list again. Looking back at the initial list I sent to him, I realised most of the schools I got admitted into, especially the school I am going to right now; Georgia State University was not there. Thank you very much for the encouragement and for making me go through that list again, I really appreciate your efforts.

Deyemzy: Our friendship kicked off in February, at first because we were both Statisticians. We waited for the admissions together, composed compelling emails to the graduate directors together, when it was time to apply for visa, we scrutinised each other's transcript, conducted several mock interview, etc. Thank you very much dear friend, you were one of my support system during this process.

To my school guys: Tomiwaa, Scott200, iwriterng. It has been a pleasure being in contact with you all and I am hoping to see the 3 of you in school this August during the graduate or international student orientation.

To the wonderful people I have met through this process: Omohakin, Tegaadogb, Spotlighte, etc

To the nice people I met when I got delayed on my first trial: We literally hustled for dates together, shared info about the next available dates for previously refused individuals, thank you; misstemi2, kay100, Temi87, dwilliams707. I am hoping we all get our visas very soon

Fairheart: Immediately I got delayed the first time, I sent him a message, he was very helpful as he scrutinised my transcript to perfection and conducted several mock interviews for me, thank you for your efforts and time, I do not take it for granted

To everyone: To everyone on this thread who has contributed in one way or the other, to those I have read their transcripts, to those who have stayed on this thread just to help out others, to those who came to my rescue and encouraged me when I was first delayed, I say thank you very much, the things you do accumulated to this approval. I hope I would be able to help the upcoming applicants in any way I could. Keep up the good work

APPRECIATION DIARY

Visa approved this morning
Lagos Consulate
8am
Program: MPH

First of all, Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) for making this a success. Honestly, my responses were nowhere near perfect. As a matter of fact, it still feels like a dream.

My mentor, Rasulullah (peace and blessings forever be upon him) taught me, "whoever does not appreciate fellow man, will never be able to appreciate God".

My appreciation goes to the following for being a part of my success story:

@Mudicua
Thanks for reviewing my proposed transcript here. Your suggestions worked in no small measure. I really appreciate. Wish you success in your career.

@Shawarma
Queen of queens. This lady and her humorous sense ehn! I hope you remember this line: I wish you all the best and I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. You were the one pursuing me upandan with your transcript grin
Well, you didn't hurt my feelings in any way. I asked for unalloyed review of my transcript, and you gave just that. I really appreciate because your comments made me return to my drawing table. Wish you success in all your endeavors.

Lastly, but not in anyway the least,
@fairheart
This King of Queen Shawarma... Hmm... I don't even know where or how to start appreciating you. Like it's usually said in my local parlance, "tí mo bá ní kí n ṣe àdúrà, epe má jabọ́".
What a down-to-earth man you are! I really appreciate your efforts and words of encouragement. May you continue to soar higher and higher in life. Thank you a trillion times.

Finally, my NL people. Thanks for everything. Your comments, answers to questions, etc have really been helpful. May we all continue to break grounds in our future endeavors!

To those with upcoming interviews, I wish you a seamless experience with positive outcome.

Will drop my transcript once I get my passport.

Cheers!

BarakLllahu feekum. Congratulations!!!

Long post alert.
I have been waiting a long while for this.
I wrote my first GRE 2014 (313), first toefl 2015(106).
First set of application was 2016, 3 schools ( university of Arkansas, West Virginia University and Wayne state university) 2 rejects and 1 admit.

Rewrote GRE 2016 (320) and applied to 3 schools again. I had 1 admit again. I went to the Embassy Aug 2017 and I was denied based on insufficient funds in the Statement of account.

Started application late 2018 again, rewrote TOEFl (100) again as the first one had expired. Applied to three schools again.
Course: Industrial Engineering
Schools: west Virginia University, Texas A and M university and University of new haven.

And finally I got admit in all three schools, got some sort of funding from all. I went with wvu and I finally got the visa.

Basically just saying that our dreams are valid and we should never give up on them. It will end in a win.
Will drop my transcript soon
