Ok thanks....which do you suggest is better.
Contact the school first for any funding availability OR Apply to the school and ask for funding availability .
for PhD? definitely contact the school. Don't apply to anywhere where full funding isn't guaranteed.

cheers.

Thanks for the motivation.

I would be glad if you can share the GRE materials with me as I wish to register for the exam.

Regards

CptCharlesVane:

What's the interval between the two exams? On the bright side you improved, indicating that you can keep improving for a much better competitive score. If you're willing to give it another try, send a message and I can help with some of the current editions of GRE prep material ebooks.

For techniques towards improvement, endeavour to keep a log of question types you struggle with and practice more on improving on those areas. Also, don't register for the test before preparing so you don't add more pressure on yourself.

I'm also a borderline 2:1 so I understand how i
uphill it might seem holding up against competition. Since you cannot change your GPA, focus on what you can do to improve your profile like acing the GRE, and getting strong recommendations and SOP. You might want to consider taking the subject GRE if possible

There's an art to contacting them, especially when nothing really stands out about your profile so if it's going to be generic, don't bother; well you could always try, but you would most likely be ignored. Quoran has a number of posts about this.

I doubt there's any program with funding that isn't very competitive and increasing in the no. of applicants. Let it serve as your motivation and take solace in the fact the STEM fields are less competitive than non-STEM ones. There's always that chance for you to get in.

Prepare to take the GRE again and see how it goes, aim for fall '20 as well, in-between take up roles like teaching, research, conference etc anything that would improve your profile and application

Don't we all feel inadequate? You'd be surprised how many elite scientists feel the same. Even our brother here with 8 publications and top 1% GPA was quite unsure about his prospects. grin So don't worry, it's normal. Let this your achievement be emphasised in your SOP as this actually indicates you are capable of doing research, essentially what admissions look for in a candidate.

Don't know about schools but you might want to start looking at Gradcafe for funding info with your GPA range in addition to suggestions you would get here.

You'll be fine, you are in a good place for insights. Best of luck in your endeavour and welcome.

Hello everyone, I've been following this thread off and on for a while now.

I intend to apply for fall 2020. My profile...
B.Tech Transport Management Technology
GPA: 4.19/5 ( 3.53/4 WES unofficial)
TOEFL: 114
GRE: Q152 V152 AWA3.0

I want to apply for masters in Transport/Logistics/Supply chain management. From my research I identified the following schools and preferred masters couses:

Ohio State University- Business Logistics Engineering
Florida Institute of Technology- Logistics Management
University of Texas at Arlington- Logistics
SUNY maritime college- International Transportation Management and
University of Houston- Supply chain and logistics technology.

Please does anyone know if any of these schools is generous with funding for my course or have other recommended schools I could look at with my profile in consideration?

Any advice would be very welcomed. Thanks

You have a good profile (especially that your TOEFL shocked )
Check out "gradcafe" - type in your course name in their search engine and you'll find a lot of info. Also check out the profile evaluation on "MSinUS". I'd advice you use MSinUS first before Gradcafe. Also network with current Graduate Assistant in those schools on LinkedIn, they may guide you rightly.
Contact Graduate Coordinators and Professors of Interest; their responses should inform your decision.

I wish you the best smiley!!

The house is really silent this year!!

Appreciation Post

I want to take this time out to appreciate everyone that have contributed to my journey so far. Firstly, I’d like to exalt the King of all Kings for his infinite love over my life.

Glitteringstar—I really hope this beautiful soul is reading this presently or sometimes in the future. I have never met her neither have we spoken on phone before. However, She did contributed to my GRE payment in 2017. That GRE gave me admission, funding and consequently visa to finally achieve my dreams. Ma’am, I tried to reach out to you after my visa was approved but the email address you used to contact me is no more active.
Also, I want to appreciate those that used Walspring to subsidize GRE fee around that time too. I benefited from that benevolent gesture.

Happyday—The resume and SOP I used was all due to your kind assistance—He was readily available to make corrections and contributions even with his tight schedule.

Lastly, A big thank you to Oluwaseun Osewa for creating this wonderful repository of information—nairaland. I really don’t know how the trajectory of my life would have been if I haven’t come across nairaland, this thread and the beautiful souls that have graced it.

There are so many others on and off this thread both home and abroad that was of immense help in so many ways. I want you all to know that I’m eternally grateful. I pray this very moment for you all, whatever your heart desires, God will grant them to you.

Kind Regards,
A grateful heart

Current situation:

GPA: 4.05/5 ( 3.45/4 WES unofficial) wrote GRE in May and scored 301 and a month later scored 303.

GRE: Q:157 V:146 AWA:3.0

No toefl score...I am thinking there are schools that would consider my profile without toefl scores since It's mathematics.

Intending to apply for masters or direct phd (preferred) in Mathematics with Full or with partial funding with TA or GA.

Please kindly advice: what schools would likely accept fit this profile....I would be very grateful.

Thank you all.

I love your area of interest. It attracts funding alot. Which school did you have your BSc? I will give you a list of schools shortly. Note that many applied Maths programs are funded. At PhD level, all are funded. Have you taken any machine learning course before? Are you also good with Algorithms and the use of packages like MATLAB,Python etc. These things are basic entry requirements but these days, everyone in the sciences can code. You will have a lot of choices. I wish you the best in your GRE.

PLEASE I am highly i interested in the list of schools too.

Thank you BOSS.

Let me give a summary of my fall 2019 admission journey..

I applied to 4 schools(msc/phd civil engineering), unfortunately, none funded me.

My profile - GRe 313 (Q154, V159, AW3.5)
TOEfL 95

GP - 3.54/4 ( unofficial wes)

Admit
MTU - MS Civil Engineering (stingy school, not surprised)
USF - MS ( no funding as well)
University of Arkansas - PhD( funding promise not fulfilled. A prof is still playing "politics" with me - hopefully... )
UNH - MS ( 30% scholarship. Not interested )

Reject
