Jubril should also tell us the number of House of Representative members from both states. Perhaps they have also upgraded Bayelsa to 26 federal constituencies like Kano. Onuku odeku.

He'll be taught that the House of Senate has equal number of members from each state while the House of Representatives has representation according to number of local governments vis a vis population.

From that angle, therefore, Kano has 24 house of reps members while Bayelsa has only 5!

I am yoruba but restructuring is not about creating more unproductive state that will always depend on the center. Restructuring is all about decentralization the government and allow each federating unit to be independent of the centre. What we need is oyo state that I'll be able to generate her money, organized her police force, create as much local government as she needs, have her parliament and able to implement her policies without too much influence from the center

It is quite unfortunate that this comment is coming from the man we call President. Somebody should tell him that each of the States in Nigeria are equal in status and not the number of LGA that matters. The 8 LGAs in Bayelsa are some of the oldest LGAs in Nigeria that have not been splitted for decades.
Moreso, the 8 LGAs in Bayelsa are some of the largest LGAs in Nigeria that could be divided into more LGAs if there have been creation of States and LGAs. For instance Southern Ijaw is one of the largest LGAs in Nigeria and could be divided into more than 4 LGAs.
As per the 36 States producing 3 Senators, the President only exposed his level of ignorance.
Nigeria is operating a Federal Constitution which guarantees equality amongst the Federating Units (the States). Hence, in composing the Senate the States are equal in terms of status and ranking. To ensure that no State is superior or inferior to each other. It means that all the States have equal right. But House of Representatives on the other hand is based on population.
