We are just 3 in my family (which is 2 boys and a girl) though the last born died last year. Now it remain only me and my brother and he's 29yrs. Since he's the only son we've been disturbing him to get marry, recently he brought a girl to my house and this girl look so sick though she told me she has been taking treatment because she have hepatitis B. I called my brother and told to leave the girl alone because hepatitis B is very deadly and I don't want anything to happen to him, he told me thats the person he want to marry and no one can stop it. I have read so many stories about hepatitis B that it is incurable and very dangerous. My brother won't just listen. Please advise me on what to do. I don't want to loose my brother. Don't mind my grammatical errors please

For everyone telling me to leave my only brother and sibling alone to make his decision, you people don't know what it means to have only one son in Igbo land. This is the only person that can inherit everything my father owns but God forbid anything happen to him, my wicked uncle and children will take over everything thing. He should get vaccinated against the virus then he will be immune to it.... There are vaccinations for all kinds of hepatitis (Excluding Hepatitis C)

He's an adult. Leave him to make his free choice. He can get vaccination.
Moreover, there's a thread on fp concerning it.

There are drugs to suppress the viral load or even cure it.

Leave your brother alone, he knows fully well what's getting into.

Well, this is trickier when a woman is the carrier. It's not just about him getting the vaccines but she could pass it on to her babies.
If its chronic hepatitis b, she should get on her ARV drugs asap to reduce viral load. Consult a doctor to confirm if that also reduces maternal transmission risk. This shouldn't be a reason for the family to reject her. It can be well managed.

Medicine has advanced that mother can’t pass hepatitis to their newborn. As long as she is going to a well trained doctor throughout her pregnancy, there is zero worry.

I think by reminding him of the danger ahead this can awake him from his slumber. To me am not a fan of leave him/her alone. Infact i will continue till he start thinking with his head and not his middle leg.
