dicksonadams:Did these your close friends tell you that it is expensive to maintain a BMW car? What models do these friends of yours own please? Of course, having competent mechanic and rewire are essential, I am more interested in the part where you said it is expensive to maintain a BMW car. |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by dicksonadams(m): 10:22pm On Jun 16, 2019 |
uboma:Yes, compared to other car brand, there were time we both had to check for oem parts on ebay... |

dicksonadams:Are there really any car model whose OEM parts on eBay or elsewhere are not expensive? Which models do these your friends own? |

ahmmyreal:"You just ordered"? I wish you ordered for the one that comes with the i6 engine, that v8 block could be the reason the previous owner sold it. Google "n63" That's the engine model in your new car. If you like BMWs this is going to be tough love. Would I order a 2012 5.0 xDrive x6? Yes When? The moment I get enough funds to replace failing engine parts with NEW REPLACEMENTS. Somehow BMWs are unforgiving when you replace with tokunbo or fake parts. The x6 is a wonderful piece of technology, do not assume. It is nothing like your Corolla or any Toyota SUV. |

xcolanto:If I'm driving around Europe it would probably be the BMW X5 Diesel. If I was in the Southern states of the USA probably be the Ford F150 FX4 3.5V6. And lf l was in Nigeria on my route between Warri and Lagos my preference would be for the LR4. All these vehicles would be stock no modifications. |

komekn:Lovely.. You got really nice choices for each environment I must confess. Makes a lot of sense putting them all together. More grease!! |

Hello BMW gurus in the house. Which is engine oil is suitable for a 2005 BMW X3 with millage over 100k. I know the manufacturer's recommended oil is Castrol Edge 5W40. Can I still use the Castrol Edge 5W40 since it's over 100k miles? |

Hello Bavarians, Please I need an advice... btw BMW 328i 6cyl and BMW 523i (engine changed to M42) Which one is advisable to go for and are their consequences of the engine changed one? Thanks in anticipation |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by erico2k2(m): 9:28am On Jul 21, 2019 |
kay2yk:If you must stick to the 3281, however, if you must get the 5 series cos of space then buy one with its original engine in place |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by uboma(m): 1:10pm On Jul 21, 2019 |
kay2yk:The BMW 523i will be greatly underpowered with the M42 engine. |

Greetings guys. My 2007 525i seems to have transmission issues. I observed that the vehicle often finds it difficult to move from gear 3 to 4 and will often rev & drop even with me flooring the gas pedal but it will finally move after 5 or 6 attempts which isn't how an automatic gear vehicle should do. The car would often display a transmission issues warning on the dash and will not change it's gear if I do not speed/drive the car aggressively like I'm on a race track. It will only go back to it's normal self if I parked the car, switch off the engine, open the driver's door, close it back, restart the engine and take off like a crazed dog. Lately, the car shakes and jerks vigorously while in motion particularly when it's ascending a hill/slope. My mechanic advised that I should get a replacement for the gear. I seek to learn from folks in this loop who had encountered similar issues & how it was resolved as well as an idea of the price for the complete gear and windscreen of the vehicle. Thanks in advance. |

omoajiri:What year is your car? |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by uboma(m): 7:44pm On Jul 22, 2019 |
omoajiri:Your mechanic has advised you well. Replace the gearbox. Any repairs you attempt to make will not yield the desired results. |

Just saw this. The car in those years have some electronic gremlins that occasionally show up. One fix to try is to just disconect the battery (the negative post would suffice) for about 10 minutes or so, the working idea being that residual capacitance in some of the electronic circuits is allowed to decay away and any culprit latched gates released. This has worked for me on many occasions. jcflex: |

Hello House, I am about making a decision on a BMW 2013 5 series 2.0 i4. I love the interior and the upgrade looks that can be made to the car but. The question is, would it a great choice? It is intended to be a daily driver Maintenance wise, what are the pitfalls to look out for and general tips to keep the car in good shape. * Not my first car, driven a Honda accord v6 2008... My first German though! Thanks in advance for your contribution |
