Nothing in either the NYSC Decree 1993 (now an Act under Section 315 of the Constitution) or in the Constitution itself (Section 315(5) dealing specifically with the NYSC) compulsorily MANDATES the wearing of pants. These bylaws, rules and regulations are made from time to time to accommodate the realities of PEOPLE and there’s absolutely NOTHING that prevents making REASONABLE (a term that I have used repeatedly) changes to accommodate the REASONABLE religious (or other cultural) observances of PEOPLE - whether they worship “religions” IMPORTED into Nigeria or the so-called “dieties” that are INDIGENOUS to Nigeria. SMH

Please what kind of dirty diversity? So if another person from a different religion comes up tomorrow, and says she wants to convert her own uniform to a bikini as part of her religion, you would support it in the name of diversity?

Or if an Ogun worshipper decided to attach cowries and raffia palm to her NYSC uniform, you would ask that the uniform should be changed to a raffia mat to accommodate diversity?

Why do people like to complicate things in this country?

Didn't the lady know exactly what the NYSC uniform looked like, before she enrolled into the scheme?

Why didn't she raise an objection to wearing trousers before enrolling into the NYSC scheme??

If uniforms are changed for every frivolous reason to accommodate diversity as you put it, then why have a uniform? Why not just scrap it?

People like this lady cannot be good employees, as they are unable to follow simple rules. They must bend the rules to suit their peculiar selfish ends....
