Lol you can say that again. When Dickson Nsofor started this Korapay stuff, all he presented was an idea and he got a seed funding of N5 Billion naira. There are many organizations willing to fund disruptive ideas in Nigeria. They know Nigeria is a good market but they are not ready for this agbero lifestyle so they go through people who know the terrain. Similar strategy employed by Uber when it acquired Careem.

When Shola and Ezra of paystack graduated they found their way and applied to stripe to fund them. At that time only Interswitch was around with the yeye #150k integration fees. Stripe gave paystack their template, funding with engineering talents. Paystack met up with KPIs later and Visa decided to pour more money. I know paystack now process over N10 Billion in monthly payments.

Segun Oni's MDaaS startup in Ibadan recently got $1 million from the US and another from finca ventures . Things are happening!

N10billion monthly Pls, any links to this info?

I like beautiful and clean offices. Start-up should focus more on developing long term capabilities and not beautiful workplace

As someone earlier mentioned, successful companies started from garage with tight expenditure control to reduce their operating costs.

Nigerian startup focus so much on acquiring beautiful offices and increasing head counts. Mainly to use it as a form of bragging right. When reality sets in, frustration and depression becomes inevitable. I saw when Jimmy Iyke opened his own with so much fanfare and yet the business is stuttering.

Please for the would be "start-uppers" and "disrupters", don't be moved by these fancy buildings. Beneath them lies huge business debt and unpaid salaries of huge head counts they have. Spend more time in developing your capabilities and up scaling your skills and knowledge.

I have started my own consultancy and designed a beautiful office in my own house where I am running the consultancy from.

If I post my picture from there, you would think that it is one big office

Bro please post it.. I'm planning on starting something too, and we could exchange ideas wink

ill say this the whole southern nigeria put nigeria on the map, check the where innovation and development are taking place

it hurts me that yorubas and igbos hate themselves with what the two regions have done for nigeria as a whole

the igbos and yorubas have done a lot of good for this country but this unhealthy rivalry is what is killing the south

onitsha, aba, yaba and even ikeja ought to be a silicon valley with billions of investment moving in every month but nigeria policy has weakened all this
Buhari is about to kill those too and some southerners in political positions are watching him... Those guys are not happy with what we do down south and are hell bent on making sure the South becomes as poor as the North but the sad reality is that who don pass u, don pass u... there is nothing you can do about it..

How do you explain the 5% charge on online purchases and 25M per annum for bike hailing companies... they are not creating jobs and the one that manage to create one are being killed.

Interswitch will be dead in a couple of years.. Paystack has taken over and they are more reliable than that wack incompetent interswitch.
Lolz. Do you think that all Interswitch does is process payments?

The South would have been a fairly developed middle income country if it were a nation without the North.
North instituted mediocrity and made it a national policy just because they can't compete with the South.
The whole country now continues to go in circles of confusion with huge potentials for greatness but very poor in reality.
SMH!!!

must northern folks are victims of their environs

We the South Failed them as well...

if we had made it our mission to pull them up and expose them BY FORCE of BY TRICK
they would not have been victims of the mind control of the Fulani hegemony and the religious leaders there.....

Education and Exposure is the key

The north has so much to offer in certain sectors
but that hegemony MUST BE broken first

Join international forums, attend tech events, read and network via tech blogs... you will FIND... You can even meet some of these companies listed here and seek their guidance, a friend of mind has been to paystack and some others. Their doors is always open at given time...

I learned that the best place to learn anything about what you want to do is from those who are already into it, not some persons who are outside the realm. MAKE THOSE MOVES NOW.

You seem to know this niche and business inside out... There is one untapped niche in the money/finance niche that is yet to kick off in Africa, there have been some small players but none has been anything mainstream because they almost non existing...

One key factor is missing but I know it will thrive... SADLY, I fear to speak up until I am ready.

grin you are afraid someone may steal your idea. I have one of such sectors in mind too.

I totally disagree with your comment.....what's the depth of your search for innovative thinkers or tech savvy guys.... I am one person who is very passionate about fintech....the thought of it and what the future holds is enough to keep one on his toes. Now kindly relate to me if your idea is still open to people like us. Thank you

Sometimes I see no point in a startup getting a large beautified office which eventually eat into their initial investment.
Consequently, instead of focusing on innovative ideas they will be worrying about finances and bills and to further make it worse, they transfer these bills to the customer.

Most ideas that stands the test of time are cooked from garage, one room or study.

I had a friend who spent so much pimping his startup office, according to him, he wants people of class to identify with it. At the end of the day he ended up redundant after few politicians turn up
A lot of people get carried away with big-boy-ism when creating start ups. They want it to look so successful like multinationals right from the start. That isn't the idea behind start up. Start ups suppose to grow in similar fashion to how the multinationals too started.

This time all white team. Fully freelanced. No time for people who don't think on our frequency

So right about that year...the parabolic rise was unprecedented and the bullish sentiment helped a lot... I'd like to get in board with you. My experience in that space is overwhelming.... What do you say bro
