Good evening brethren.

We requested a ride on Uber this morning but the driver's profile did not have his car license plate details. We cancelled immediately.

Although we tried to contact Uber, there wasn't an option to click to report such an incident.

This evening, we have been able to get the 400 naira cancellation fee reversed.

I don't understand how a driver can operate on Uber without license plate details on his profile. Especially when riders can report when the plate number of the car that arrives is different from the one on the driver's profile.

Can anyone explain what happened this morning? I think it is an issue of rider security.

Good evening ma

I think it should be a glitch in the app. A driver does not have any control over what you see on your riders app(except his phone details). And besides, he can't even come online without a car attached

Most likely it's an app issue.

Is it not same way plenty of Uber drivers are looking for car to drive and willing to deliver 25k weekly?

Baba I'll advice you buy keke and ride it yourself since Uber car investors aren't making money except the drivers.

I don't own a car in Uber, I drive rental. From driving rental I'm able to save money to buy Keke that will be working for me.

Any owner that gives you his car bought above 1.5m at the rate you quoted, should better use the money and buy 3 Keke that will fetch him 75k weekly.

Nothing actually happened as there's no cause for alarm. I can 80% say the problem was from (Service provider, Uber, App Upgrade) either of them.
No driver can come online without a plate number. Was nice you took precaution though. Safety first!!!

Good evening.

It could also be an app issue

Sometimes my rider would tell me my plate number did not display

I tried contacting uber on it still nothing happen. After sometime it went back to default setting

Let me explain to you the underlying mathematics. As an investor, If you buy a good car for 1.8m all-in cost (vehicle cost, reg. and minor repair to put in shape and insur). then how much do you think i should give it out. If i give it out at 3.6m, it will take me 2 1/2yrs to get my money. As an investor, can i wait for that long? how many drivers can pay such money for such a long time. This now make pple to buy a naija used car and put it on HP for like 2m, the driver will now be battling repair because the car had seen good days. That is what is causing bad experience with HP. No intellingent investor will buy a correct tokunbo car and put it on HP when i can get a driver that will deliver the same amount for me with little or no repair.

Dbossmanager:

truth is uber at best is to keep one alive...but it baffles me y drivers prefer rentals....I mean to what end...?.. There are good drivers paying rent for over 2 years on the same car...I mean dey probably might have owned the car if dey were on hp....but dey will shout hp!!!! bros no put your head o...If you ask why...dey will say repair and all..but I have been driving my Corolla bought toks...last year June...and I have never spent a kobo on repair....aside from the routine maintenance...so with a good car...and a fair contract...but most have never been on hp..but are scared because someone else had a bad experience...I agree that I dont drive much on the platform but with a strict adequate routine maintenance u would spend less on repair if any...

Unlike taxify when u request an uber the driver profile and phone number will show on the app without displaying drivers plate and car (for security reasons) when the driver arrives a pop up mssg will come to your phone stating the car make and plate number for you to check before entering.

The low class/ wanna be high class - these set will check front and back plate number, dey LL ask why ur uber profile pic is fair but u are not grin, u LL spend 5min answering questions for a #500h ride grin.

100% True.
Riders have told me on two different occasions that my license number is not showing. But when I ask the next rider I picked, he'll tell me that my license number is showing.

I believe it's rider app issue/network glitch.

Even on the driver app, there are times you'll not be able to chat with a rider. You'll only see the option to call.

Third Mainland bridge!
Where were those policemen who usually stayed up till around 11pm before leaving?
Situations like this made me doubt our law enforcement people. They might have collected riba from those hoodlums for them to have the gut of robbing on the ever busy bridge.

You're not far from the obvious. Haba! How can people be robbed confidently for over 30mins and no sight of police? RRS? No now. I'm just gutted, which kind nonsense be this.

A friend asked me to give him my own since I'm yet to get a car and his temporary license isn't out as he just started the process.

I'm not trying to make excuse for the police or something, but the RRS has just one Patrol Van before the Yaba exit bridge and u don't know the distance between the robbery scene and where the RRS patrol van was stationed and if the RRS got information about the robbery on time. We should not be quick to apportion blame when we don't have the whole information.

Sorry to the guy that got his phone collected at gun point, God will continue to protect us all

I still find it hard to believe Bolt started from Europe. They have all the qualities of a typical Nigerian low budget startup company

Taxify Nigeria is a franchise most decisions and action start and end here in naija that is why you pick their staff and misbehave they can block you next minute.
Uber Nigeria is their Nigeria office all decisions and actions still come from HQ...so even Uber staff that you mess up with your case has to be very very bad before anything can happen to you at best Dem go rate you down I.e 1 star things
They just cannot be compared to each other at all....

I have experienced this twice recently it definitely an app related issue but what I also observed in both instances because the riders also expressed their concern that my plate number was not showing there was a surge and many requests were trying to come in seemingly rider also confirmed they both had difficulty in getting a ride before mine came through so they just had to confirm it was truly me first before we started the trip.
