Obinnau:
Interesting discussion here.
I feel this issue relates directly to me.
I find it strange that most of the ladies that have come closer to my life are Muslim ladies, I tend to kill the relationship before it even started, but recently I started to have strong questions and reservations. If I find a Muslim lady that is all down for us together, should I leave her and continue looking for another lady from my faith, what if I go ahead and marry from Islam would there not be family conflicts later on in our life when the initial attraction have whittled down? What about the children?
Lots of issues.
But then I am beginning to see religion and a gag of some sorts that is bounding us from showing real humanity because ordinarily love should come ahead of religion, but in Nigeria, the reverse is the case.
I am also still confused about the whole thing.
But it takes guts to damn friends, family and society to marry another from a different faith.
And I forgot to mention that as a man you'll be required to convert to Islam if you're marrying into Islam.
Question now being, how sure are you that your religion is the best? How do you relate with people that knew you before this great leap of faith? Etc...

If we allow love to dictate our life partners ,most of us will fall and stumble on the way.since most of us do not know love from sex.Therefore.RELIGION first before love.In choosing life partners Religion should take 90% ,while love will be 10%

Let's put things in proper perspectives...

I'd rather "FAITH" or "CONVICTION" instead of Religion... And "MARRIAGE" in place of Love!

Now, our Faith is with us from age of awareness till death (whether they be changed or not along the line). Our conviction tames our souls, shapens our character and directs our ways of living and seeing life. Faith is invariably Permanent!

Marriage on the other hand is arguably temporary! If people get married (fall in love), they may eventually separate by reason of loss of love for each other, or by way of death (of either of the two). In either case, each carries on with their faith leaving behind them their marriage (love).

So, for me, faith is bigger, more lasting and should be stronger than (conjugal) love.

It is either you are not educated, or you refused to learn.
James 1:27
This is what the father considers as true religion; to take care of orphans and widows in their sufferings and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.

Churchee.
Mr Educated man there is difference between RELIGION and being RELIGIOUS .

Oxford dictionary definitions

RELIGION : an interest, a belief, or an activity that is very important to a person or group.
Example : the Christian religion, the Islamic religion.

RELIGIOUS : scrupulously and conscientiously faithful, fervent and zealous
Example : my religious beliefs forbids me to drink alcohol

First of all, what does the Bible say

2 Corinthians 6:14 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Don’t continue to team up with unbelievers in mismatched alliances, for what partnership is there between righteousness and rebellion? Who could mingle light with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:14 New Living Translation (NLT)
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:14 New International Version (NIV)
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:14 New Century Version (NCV)
You are not the same as those who do not believe. So do not join yourselves to them. Good and bad do not belong together. Light and darkness cannot share together.

2 Corinthians 6:14 King James Version (KJV)
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 The Message (MSG)
Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark? Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands? Who would think of setting up pagan idols in God’s holy Temple? But that is exactly what we are, each of us a temple in whom God lives. God himself put it this way: “I’ll live in them, move into them; I’ll be their God and they’ll be my people. So leave the corruption and compromise; leave it for good,” says God. “Don’t link up with those who will pollute you. I want you all for myself. I’ll be a Father to you; you’ll be sons and daughters to me.” The Word of the Master, God.

2 Corinthians 6:14 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:14 American Standard Version (ASV)
Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness?

2 CORINTHIANS 6:14 The Amplified Bible (AMP)
Do not be unequally bound together with unbelievers [do not make mismatched alliances with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:14 English Standard Version (ESV)
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

If the rule of marriage is obeyed, then religion won't be a problem.

Marriage rule is simple " Man love" " Woman obey". So if marriage rule is obeyed, the man can ask his wife to stop going to any religious gathering. The man can easily penetrate anytime he wants, after which both partners can discuss in peace. But when the rules are violated, everything in marriage becomes chaotic.

Even to kponyon becomes an Herculean task.

That woman that went to marry a Muslim in saudi Arabia i am sure if she were to turn back the hand of time ,she will not marry a Muslim man undecided. So religion has a big role to play.

I may not be a strong Christan that spends 6 days a week in church but one thing i know i can't do is marry a muslim I don't know about other people,so to each his own.

The love in our world, especially today, is no where near or comparable with the Love of God expressed in Christ.
A genuine Christian knows he/she is bound by the covenant of Christ's Love and should be lead by the Spirit in choosing a life partner NOT by human love that exists only in the realm of the soul. Such Christian, whose real/first love is Christ, can never be joined with someone whose heart isn't owned by Christ.
A real Christian who is first and foremost concerned about a growing relationship with Christ above anything else can't think of being joined together in matrimony to non-believer - that would be disastrous to his/her spiritual life and that will definitely lead to a physical life of agony and lots of "patching-up".

I don't care the religion, is my believe his believe? Is my convictions his convictions? It doesn't matter the religion you are born into, what matters is the religion you accept when you are old enough, have you not seen Christians turn Muslims? Or have you not seen Muslims turn Christian, they grew up and realise that's not their believe.

Leave religion, do you know as Christians, there are some denominations that hardly (never) marry other denominations?

You cannot love someone whose religion you dislike. It is impossible. To love a devoted Christian, you must love Christianity; to love a devoted Muslim, you must love Islam. If you dislike Islam and you say you love a devoted Muslim sister, then you're stup!d.

Seems Religion has a new face back then killings were carried out in the name of Religion and still. As much as I am a Christian, I find myself seeing this religion thing as a form of control. That thought cant shake off my head anytime I seel for answers I'm told to take things by faith , what does that mean ? To believe without questioning ? This is why religion is very hard for me. I just go to church and pray because I grew up that way, but deep down I have reservations about religion. I'm definitely confused and yet it's hard for religion to give me an answer not shrouded with more questions.
ithink we are experiencing the same thing, but I have found a way out. the religion being preached today is false and a scam. I am a Christian, I'm Christ like, anything that goes against the teachings and examples of Christ to me is wrong. I treat everyone equally with love irrespective of your tribe or religion, I won't take what's not mine, I try to forgive when I'm offended but I don't forget sha so that story nor go repeat itself. I don't do these miracle pursuing things, all those God will punish you if you don't pay tithes nonsense, just get it out of your head. live free, live simple, be wise, love all. that way, you will be at peace with God and man. do you think they Abraham, David and Co did all these things Christians of today are doing? yet God love them, just live happily

Religion is fast losing its grip.

It has failed to create the ideals of peace and harmony.

It was designed to comfort man when he was in the dark about the mysteries of life. What science unravels, religion retreats.

Thousands of years later and there's still no evidence of the man in the sky.

What's worse is when stupid people survive dangerous accidents with serious injuries and give thanks to god....er, he didn't stop the accident. If he loved you he wouldn't arrange for it to happen to begin with.

Even worse is when some charlatans claim direct access to god and milk you for the privilege of some imaginary favors.

All the spirituality you need is within you.
wow just wow

If God tells me to marry an unbeliever, I will, because I know He wants to use it to show His Glory. The most important thing is obedience to God. Many marry according to their will not God's will. And many are not in a relationship with God, thereby practicing religion and waiting for their pastors to lead them and choose for them. May the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob
never cease to show us grace through Christ..... So be it.

1 John 4:7-14 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

1 Corinthians 13:1-7
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Its not everything God will tell you to do, Can God ask you to steal or kill?
He gave Adam wife, and later Adam blamed God, now the rule is ",He that findth", you must find for yourself.
