exactly my point. Even the Mexicans that cross land border illegally. They have a base in the USA. If you can cross the border and get to that base, you are good and there you meet fellow illegal Latinos ready to get you all settled.

The reason I guess is, most people think when you travel abroad, you’ll immediately started having things easy... the truth is, it takes an average of 1-2 years for most people to find their feet...and it may even take longer for others, and it’s usually very extreme hard times... If you asked anyone going through that phase you wanted to travel down, they are likely going to discourage you.

Secondly, some people are showing off fake lives on social media... and they know you coming to them will be “casting”. This is why you’d notice, that uncle that promised to come pick you at the the Airport never showed up or reachable. And some people are always believing you’re going to be a burden to them during your first few months and they are actually finding it difficult themselves.

And finally, if the person sense you don’t have clear plans and goals to succeed in your new location(You just want to leave Nigeria because you’re tired of living Nigeria), they are likely not going to welcome the idea of you traveling out. But if they sense, you’d have a bright future or you’re going to be an asset... They will mostly do anything to help you.

see yourself now. You think Nigerians dont have good jobs abroad? I know of 4 Nigerian Doctors that own hospitals abroad, they don’t have any Nigerian trained nurses there. Even the hospital cleaners are all white. So what do you mean?

last post here as u never reach abroad before and know how stuff works. When there is available local labour it is hard getting visa for a foreign worker. For dat chinese town or indian tandoori shop there is no readily available local labour. So they can use that format . Bros collect ya visa buy ticket dry go usa go meet trump o. See example below for canada

Facts: I would rather help an Indian than some Nigerians. At least an average Indian will work hard to make money legitimately. But an average Nigerian will always look for a way to either beat the system, or make money illegally. Go to Texas and some other states, 80% of Nigerians there are fraudsters. If you help someone with such tendencies, it's only a matter of time before he will put you into trouble. People learn from other people's mistakes!

Okay, yes you're right.

However, if you're really determined to get to the US and then take any means to legalize your stay to permanent resident then you shouldn't be discouraged about any negative advise you get from people.

Just be ready to spend your own money to go about the whole process and refrain from seeking financial help from others.

For the sake of intellectual discussion, and don't take this the wrong way, but let's say you were planning to land in his place on a visiting visa. What next? Work illegally on a student visa, overstay your visa then do an arranged marriage? That makes him an accessory to immigration violations and could jeopardize all he has achieved in the States.

Such person doesn't need to do an arranged marriage to get a green card na.

There are hundreds of US citizens he/she could fall in love with(genuinely), get marred to and then adjust one's status to a green card. It is legal.

The main reason why I would discourage someone from moving abroad (in my case UK) is if I am truly concerned that the person may not be able to find their feet here. The truth is that immigration laws have changed so drastically making it so difficult for migrants to settle. Many Nigerians here who have their ILRs or citizenship got it through their parents who moved here many years ago.
Some got theirs through post study Visa (back when it was still available), others through marriage or having kids here and waiting for them to receive their citizenship (this particular one requires a lot of sacrifice and hardship, one will not be able to travel freely for up to 8 years).
I will conclude by saying, if you are not a medical doctor, do not attempt to move to the UK. Engineers might have a shot if they manage to get an employer willing to sponsor their work permit.

I can see you’ll defending Nigerians abroad but the real fact is that Nigerians abroad are wicked bitter and greedy that’s it ...... imagine some one in uae �� working legally and you asked him how life is over there and that you are planning to come you have your plans and you have money for everything and he still discourage you with all these stories “ it’s hard here it’s hot here “ wtf is that most Nigerians abroad just don’t want fellow Nigerians to succeed they want to give you all the time and they don’t wish for your success

Like I mentioned with my earlier post on this same thread, whoever is determined to migrate to abroad and make it work will find all means to do it and will not be discouraged by any negative advise.

that is not what we are talking about oga. I have lived in the uk. And when i go to canny i would get a shared room before i land. The topic of discourse is about them discouraging me from coming. Over 100 people in my office have crossed to canada legally and got good jobs with our canada branch or competitors. They are not discouraging me and others one bit from coming. The case will be different if am coming illegally . No one would want to welcome me. Na wetin we dey discuss here.

100% correct. Those days one can do menial job with fake passport . Today its hard. So why would u encourage someone to come
