but on a second thought, won’t a faulty coolant temperature sensor make the check engine light come on? My check engine light is not on.
Guess so. Pull the sensor and connect the points together. If the fan turns on on ignition 2 then switch is bad

Depends on where you are in the continent.

2.0L was fitted in Brazil only

The other accord with 2.0L is European accord also known as Acura TSX for 02 to 08 model year.

It would be better to find a Euro accord-with 2.0L Engine than buy the North America with 2.0L Engine because I have never come across the NA with 2.0L in Nigeria.
Thank you for the response. In other words a 2.0L engine on the NA accord could be a converted and not advisable I guess.

Not converted, that Engine is too isolated and getting replacement parts and other Engine peripheral may be an issue.

The Engine is exclusive to a continent and we don't import parts from there.

Not on all occasions

Change both parts based on preventive maintenance and rest - your old thermostat must have seen better days by now anyway.

Why should he join the wire together? Just unplug the wiring harness. If the fan comes on then the problem is from the temperature sensor.

Hmmm one question. How would the fans come on?
Unless I'm missing something here......

Your temperature sensor is a two wire sensor one is a 5volts reference voltage from the ecu while the 2nd one is a signal wire back to the ecu. As the engine gets hot the resistance in the ect changes which is sent to the ecu in form of a voltage through the signal wire. The ecu uses that information to determine the amount of fuel to send into the cylinder and when to turn on the fan. When you unplug the wiring harness to the ect, the ecu assumes a hot engine condition and in turn switchs on the fan.

Bros are you sure we are talking about the same sensor? Unless I'm mistaken the sensor I'm talking about is located at the bottom of the radiator and when the collant gets hot, it bridges and activates the fan and when it cools said fan stops. I drove my honda accord 2004 with that sensor disconnected and bridged, making the fan run all the time. When I learnt of the strain it puts on the fans I reconnected it back but alas the sensor was bad and my car nearly overheated. I had to put on the ac for the temp to drop when the fans came on. I bought another from Amazon, now my fans come one at temp 91 degrees and off on temp 88 degrees. That's why I advice disconnecting the sensor and bridging but he can try your method because I know said sensor will not throw a CEL on 2004 accord but will do so on 2005 upwards so it may work differently

We are talking of the same sensor. The work with same principle. By bridging the wire, u are sending 5volts back to the ecu so the fan should come on. As for the check engine light, it will come on.

Remember this is not a good way to diagnose. There are better ways

I was told Honda Accord 08 V6 Consumes excess fuel. How true is this please? Or is it best to just stick to the V4 variant? Thanks in advance.

So i thought before I own one...not true sir.

Actually, it does consume more fuel but not excess...based on personal experience, considering average weekly fuel consumption of other cars I own:

2006 Civic 1.8L MT - 3K per week
2008 Civic 1.8L AT - 4K per week
2006 Accord 2.4L AT - 6K per week
2010 Accord 3.5L AT - 7K per week

From above data you can see that the fuel consumption is not alarming.

My V6 accord is equipped with VCM so I get good MPG up to 17 within town and 26 on the highway. See TripB in images below.

I use Honda type2 coolant, DW1, service with synthetic M1 oil and ensure no check engine light (very important to enjoy ECO mode) and I buy fuel from trusted filling stations. I have also installed Honda V-springs recommended for excessive rear pad wear/binding...this slightly improved acceleration and fuel consumption.

In summary, maintenance is key. An abused and poorly maintained car will consume excess fuel.

Decision to stick to I4 or not is yours to make. In my own case I needed to explore the talked about power of a V6 and its been fun so far.

You care for a test drive?

the Accord V6 doesn't consume excess fuel but it uses more fuel than a 4 cylinder Accord for the same journey in km or miles.

To make your decision look at what the difference between both is for 100km if it's negligible then you have no problem if you can easily afford the difference

Good evening house, Please I would like to find out if a Honda Civic 2006 is good for me to buy.

Please note I have never driven before and I am practically clueless about cars.
I am wondering if this is a good choice.

Thank you.

I bought a New Ball Joint just like a month ago ND both that one ND the Tokunbo I bought for driver side in April started making sounds recently so my mechanic said I needed to change both ND installed some Tokunbo again he said Grade One lols

So now my question is under normal usage plus few travellings how many months or years is a good Honda Ball joint suppose to use on Nigeria roads ??

I got this two for 12,000 is that fine??

The VCM in the V6 tries to reduce fuel consumption but doesn't succeed very much in that. I probably use the same amount you use in a week to buy a month worth of fuel for my civic. Fuel economy for the Accord 08 v6 is comparable to that of a Corolla on long journeys.

It helps reduce fuel consumption. From Lagos to Ibadan...I probably will use same amount of fuel as ur 1.8L Civic and surely arrive earlier grin

Better for you to have gone for a tokunbo knuckle with ball joints on them and save yourself the stress of back and forth

Okay I'll anticipate that in my next change lets say after a Travelling trip or two coz Its looking like I'm already spending too much on that line

Now having two extra fresh looking ball Joints removed all in the name of noise while going on rough roads or sometimes bumps

Just seeing something V springs is it something we have to buy like an option or it's on our Car already

The cars do not come with V springs from factory. You might be lucky if previous owner abroad already fixed it since there is a TSB from Honda recommending it abroad. Else, you have to source for it and fix.
