I can only imagine how we will all be sweating and twisting tongues when telling the next generation the events that happened in our time as only the Olympic football Gold medal and 2013 Afcon will likely be the only positive story we have to tell them. Cus I can't imagine telling stories of all this incessant killings that I will surely loose counts of.

I told them that by the end of this administration only superficial improvements will have been made. There is no sector in Nigeria where any fundamental change for the better has occured since 2015. No new ideas, nothing. Just sitting idly, twiddling their thumbs while the tank of humanity runs dry.

In years past the rainy season used to offer the best supply of electricity due to reduced consumption from infrastructure damage, clement weather and maximum hydropower. This is the first year in a very long while that power has been worse mid year. You just donot understand why everything has to deteriorate so badly under this administraton.

Discos are the weakest link in the whole chain.

How can you be rejecting more than 70‰ of the generated electricity when we don't have light?

My worry now is that the gencos may start getting inefficient too due to insufficient utilization.

BTW, Jonathan really worked a lot in increasing power generation.

I would have expected buhari to focus on distribution and tackle it.

Sometimes I despair with you guys.

What intervention do you want government to do with private businesses that you would not complain about?

Didn't we read about government trying to buy them out of their contracts not up to 2 weeks ago?

Didn't you see how many of you criticised the same plan?

Incompetent BRF that can not mandate distribution of prepaid meters to solve this whole electricity fraud.

Why won't they reject power from GENCOs when they are given free reign to use estimated billing. Let them all be forced to roll out pre-paid meters or be forced to close.

With the current arrangement of estimated billing, these DISCOs can choose to reject power from GENCOs because with or without power supply they will come with their regular monthly bill.

There are legislation already in place to compel the DISCOs to stop estimated billing but for 4yrs Fashole refused to enforce it on the DISCOs but rather sided with them to increase tarrif rates for no just reason.

Also power supply is heavily politicised as there is an unwritten order to supply both the NW and SW much of the power generated so as to appear that power supply has improved leaving the rest of the country in darkness.

Even at that, most of the power supply to the north is virtually free especially in rural areas.

The subsidy the north enjoys can even be seen from the billing rates for each zone with the SS and SE recording the highest rates while the SW and NW, the lowest even though most of the GENCOs are located in the SS and SE.

Who will pay for the meters?

On the contrary, the DISCOS are being very lazy, they should deploy pre paid meters to all households and ensure that there is no bypass in place to steal energy. They should STOP estimated billing.

it is the job of the government to regulate electricity distribution companies through an agency call NERC.
NERC can even sanction or takeover any company that is not meeting up but corruption won't allow that.

lol, psychology has it that those who are guilty of something assume the other person does it too to sooth their bugging conscience . i wish i was paid tho ,atleast it would have made paying between 10-15k for electricity bill for a electricity that we sometimes don't see for two weeks every month would have made it less annoying.

NERC cannot.

There would be court injunctions for eons by which time the very people the government is fighting for would begin their campaign against any further action.
