For the chewable or coloured vitamin C tablets, some amount of sugar, colourants and flavouring are added. This makes them easier to chew, sweet to taste, they come in bright colours and have a pleasant smell. Little wonder that this type is loved by children and some adults alike (like myself)! The white Vitamin C tablets, on the other hand, has a fairly medicinal smell and acidic taste. Some adults prefer them though, since they contain little or no sugar. However, the boring off-white colour makes it unattractive to children as it reminds them of their previous experiences with bitter medications! In summary, since both vitamin C products are tablets and come in the same strength, taking the same quantity gives the same therapeutic results. One is not more effective than the other. 2 Likes |

Both orange and white vitamin c tablets contains 100mg ascorbic acid.There are also the high strength viatmin c which may have as high as 1000mg of ascorbic acid However, it is chewable and dispersible in water. consequently, sweetners, colorant or flavours are added which may produce different colours. Hence, we have yellow and the white one. it is important to note that a diabetic patient who already have elevated sugar level may not take the coloured vitamin c as it may cause a rise in sugar level. let me also state that the reason many believe the white vitamin c is better is for reason such as compliance and on the part of many, ignorance! many lick white vitamin c as in sweet but forget to realise that all drugs are poison. . be it white or coloured, they re all vitamin c. The phenotypical disparity as already concurred by most commentators is in the coloration and sweetening. But then, pharmacologically speaking, the real difference is in their pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
