What will this achieve oo! Is this the next thing to tackle amidst all the problems battling with education in osun state?. Why delay brilliant young ones unnecessarily?.
Are there not adults influenced by peer pressure?.
Misplaced priorities
It still very embrassing to me that this man that was caught doing blood rituals openly in Ilesha became the speaker of the house just because he has political godfathers.
Anyway this is Nigeria, anything goes

These are blood suckers! They watch youths waste their lives in this country. They're a disgrace to the human race..

Seems these people are high on something.

I can vividly remember I left secondary school at the age of 15.

Some people even left secondary school far below that age.

Why are this our leader's brain retarded to dx extent ni undecided

But they can sent their children oversees to school without without anyone blocking their progress?
What kind of morons do we have as leaders?
Why not change the content of our education to match that of oversees?
Your children are MD's at their twenties. You then want to engineer the poor to start life (job hunting) in their late twenties ...

Better!!!
We must start from somewhere.

These are the people we call lawmakers, they've destroyed the lives of the youths in this country. Many of our graduates now rides Okada and Marwa after they couldn't get a job placement...

They all see geniuses that finish high school, masters and PhDs before age 20/21 yet they are looking for how to cause extra burden for Nigerian children and their parents.A child that could get into higher institution at age 16 would now be unnecessarily delayed further while his parents retire from active service, become pensioners that hardly get paid and are then unable to fund their wards.

It is good for young people to acquire skills while growing up but this kind of detrimental policy/law should not see the light of day at all!

They need to be delayed, because when u read some comment of adults on NL... U realise most nigerians are dumb

Good idea. Parents rush their kids too much. Even the dumb ones are writing common entrance in primary 4 and they are passing because their parents are cheating for them. University is for adults. If they leave secondary school at 18, they will graduate at 22. So, it’s very ok. If they peg secondary school entrance at 12 and primary school entrance at 6, all the rubbish rush rush will end. If your child is truly a genius, there is a school for the gifted. Apply there. Even in America kids cannot enter KG before 5 or almost 6. They mostly finish secondary school at 18!

A child that graduates secondary school at 18 is mature enough to acquire a skill or go to university and excel. There will be less incidence of cultism and all these useless sleeping around for grades because of pressure and immaturity.

Loud it my dear

I left secondary at 17, finished university at 23 ... Did a 5yrs course.

Came back from NYSC at late 24.

Got my first job 4months later, second job after 1yr.....(both multinationals) worked for another 4yrs with them...

Got tired and started my own company...

What am I trying to say..... Ur path in life is ur path.... Leaving secondary school 18 doesnt mean u will fail in life

And leaving at 15 is no guarantee of success ...

The most important thing is the kids should be well built and brought up

I can see the way you are programming the life of our youths as if all things are equal. Can we be realistic here and stop all these futile projections like we're a serious country.

There should be policy to test if the students are at grades level if they're skipping grades. If they pass test they are by Nigerian standards. If you want to argue those test are flawed ok. The state should instead make sure students are actually qualified to skip grades instead of holding them back.

AP and Dual credit classes dont have special qualifications to enroll. You just sign up for them at beginning of the year. That's up to parents to decide whether to be kids. The kid can also say no to certain classes. If all else fails just fail test on purpose.

The point is they hsve option to try to skip classes. If the parents or student feel the csn handle load it what ever. If they can get ahead early all the better for them.

I still take exception to point about degeneracy and criminality. I doubt their much of a difference between the rates. Since truancy isnt looked into college I have no opinion.

I dont trust they did extensive research. Why is the stydy he's citing? He claimed erroneously unemployment is caused by students entering in work force.

Whether there is policy or not, it still won't make any difference.

During my time, we did aptitude test to determine the department one will go to for senior secondary school but guess what, some parents still find a way to cut corners.

If the test says commercial class, some parent will say science, some student will even argue with the teacher and get their name switch to science department.

It is not all about making the law, the problem is how can we implement it?

Doesn't make much sense.

I left secondary school very early, agreed it came with its own demerit, but the time I thought I gained, I wasted it in the Univesity, due to strike action that extended for over two years.

In a country where age is a thing when it comes to Job hunting, this policy should be kicked against.

Who bloody cares about implementation of the rule of law in a lawless state. Can we for once come to the realization that we are in Nigeria where nepotism and greed has fractured every sense of right thinking in this space.

Very very very DUMB... 18years for secondary school plus 2years before gaining admission due to jamb jambing the student plus 4years in the university if ASUU didnt strike plus 1year waiting for school to send names to NYSC portal plus 1year NYSC scheme = 26years.
Employer : needing 24years employee with 3years experience...

. There is no need to rush children .That is why our schools in Nigeria have tagalongs who cannot reason and think as adults.....From creche to nursery from nursery to primarily 1234 .From 4 to JSS 1. 2 .Some will jump from JSS 2 to SS 1. From SS2 or 1 they will register them for WAEC....by 14 they are in the higher instiutions with kid mentality. Many of them are even not brilliant and cannot cope with the pressures of high institution. The mentality for the high institution is not there .They will look like toddlers in classes... This is not so in the UK and in the USA where they have age limit for school leavers. There must be a federal law on that in Nigeria

I am a Nigerian from Imo and

I have an idea that i think would really help imo state greatly. Especially its economy.

I am of the notion that Okorochas Eastern palm university should not be used as a campus of IMSU.
Let the status quo remain or they shift it to Mbano zone as Rochas planned.

Instead let the Eastern palm University be used as a transport university, it would be the first in the south since the only available one is at Katsina.

This would naturally attract investment and improve the economy, cause i sense Nigeria is about to withness a boom in that sector.

WHATS YOUR TAKE
