I don't think you should be worried. Your visa will definitely come out before your resumption date. And if by any chance it's late no need to worry. The first few days of the program are mostly orientations you'll be fine. I arrived school like 5 days after resumption for my M.Sc course. You'll be fine. Cheer up!

I applied for a teir 4 visa and paid for priority service then submitted/biometrics my documents on the 19th of August with the walkin service and got a message on the 20th that it has arrived at the decision centre. Also, a friend that both of us submitted same time and day has gotten a message for collection but I havent up on till now and is getting me worried. Should i call to inquire because my university is to resume on the 11th of September. What will I do I am worried sick ?

No way out than to wait...if its way past 15working days as you paid for priority...the you need to escalate it by calling them. Goodluck!

please help me decide dear gurus, So the uk visa application site you can pay for priority service, decisiom made within 5 working days which costs $400, also in the TLS website priority service costs £220 for decision within 5 working days which is more important or works better as i cant pay for both.

[The budget was for 12 days which is approximately 2 weeks and not 1 week. The documents i submitted supported my source of income and the ECO did not raise any concerns about that. The ECO refused on the ground of spending approximately 3 times my disposable income on vacation. I had a balance of 1.9m as at the time of application and spending 500k of my hard earned money on vacation is not too much. I think the ECO refused my application on a subjective decision.

ko gbagidi my brother... You may have declared that your disposable income is as low as that but after checking your bank statement , the funds that leaves your account in a month is way higher than what you declared then wahala dey ooo.... First of all.... Give it some time, 2. reduce ur travel budget so as not to be more than ur 2 months salary , 3.Reduce the number if days u want to stay in the UK to like 10 days .

Hi everyone, I did my biometrics at VI on the 26th of August but there was no interview (Tier 4). My application is now with DMC. I hope it's not going to affect my application.

i am so grateful to God almighty that my uk visa application was succesful though i don't believe in prayer over visas,if our country is good no one will be desperate to leave.
i stated in my application that my budgetted expenses for the 14days trip is 2m and the visa was granted.no relatives in uk,will stay in hotel.

i am writing these maybe it can help others in their applications and also help the ones refused in their reviews.

i intend to travel dec14,though the visa starts from october i'll appreciate suggestions from the ogas in the house on how to arrange and package myself in these areas----airline/ticket,transportations,location to choose and places to visit.so the journey could be a memorable one.
thanks

Livlivuk:
Hi Gurus of the House,
I am quite new here and it's been a pleasure reading all the updates on here. I am hoping to get your advice on a refusal I received for my Mum.

Background
My mum is retired. She used to have a shop but no longer has it and she is just living her best life at home in Nigeria. She does not have any pensions, etc. She lives with my sister and brother in Lagos Nigeria. Every month, I send her some support of N100000 (100k naira) for her needs. My sister and brother also give her some cash here and there but does not show in her account.

She applied for a UK visa in 2011 to attend my M.Sc grad but was refused because she did not show enough funds. We did not know how to apply properly. She has not applied since then. This year after my husband and I got our ILR (Permanent residency) we decided to invite her again. My husband was the main sponsor and these were documents we supplied with her application:
- Husband's Payslips (3 months)
- Husband's Current Account showing salary (3 months)
- Husband's Savings Account showing funds for her visit
- Invitation letter stating husband will sponsor her for everything and ensure she lives, yada yada
- Utility Bills
- Mortgage Documents
- Title Deed for the house.
- My birth certificate
- Our marriage certificate
- My Mum's bank statement (from December 2018 to May 2019)-> closing balance 100k (mind you she is fully sponsored so we though they won't look at this document)
- Tenancy agreement of their house in Lagos (in my sister's name).
- My husband and I's passport
- My husband and I's BRPs
- SUO7 Sponsorship Form

In her application, I believe the error we made was in the application where they asked how much was the trip going to cost we said £1500 for 3 weeks and she was travelling with my sister. I guess since she was being fully sponsored, I should have out £0 and then under sponsor should have been £1500. They said anyone else paying for the trip and we said yes, my husband and the amount was £1500 (it ow looked like total amount of trip cost was £3000) . Under income, we ticked family provides her regular money every month and total amount for a year 1.2 million. Now to my shock and surprise they refused her and granted my sister 2 years visa instead. Mind you, they both applied together; my sister has come here a few times though. We said my sister will stay with us and sent her invitation letter and mortgage documents + passport + BRP. They accepted all that.

My Mum's refusal:
I have refused your application for a visit because I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of Paragraph 4 of Appendix V Immigration Rules for Visitors. I have considered your application in the context of your evidenced personal circumstances and funding. You have declared in your visa application form that you are retired and that your propose to travel to the UK to visit your daughter for 3 weeks. You have further stated that you and your sponsor will meet the cost of your proposed visit. However, I must also consider the evidence of your personal circumstances and funding as demonstrated by you.
- As evidence of your own funds and financial circumstances, you have submitted a bank account in your own name. However, I am not satisfied that you have demonstrated the origin of the funds shown and how you are financially supported. I am not satisfied that this account is a reliable reflection of your financial circumstances of your stated ability to help pay for your proposed visit.
- I am not satisfied that you have sufficiently demonstrated your personal circumstances and your own funds or that they are as such that you can be relied upon to meet the conditions of visit entry clearance.
- Taking the forgoing into your account, I am not satisfied that you intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit. Furthermore, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient funds available to cover your costs whilst in the UK without working or accessing public funds. Your application therefore been refused under paragraphs V4.2 A and e.

Now I am planning to reapply and address the following:
- I will put £0 for the cost of her trip because she is being fully sponsored.
- I will still put £1500 for amount we are willing to sponsor her for.
- I will write a cover letter stating the question for the amount of money for the trip was not clear. We are fully sponsoring her.
- My sister will write a cover letter stating my Mum lives with her and still include the tenancy agreement and she gives her cash gifts here and there.
- We will still include all other previous documents.

Please I will appreciate any advice from your own end.

Thank you.

Yes you can re apply and address the ECO concern as stated. Also provide proofs that you send her 100K monthly. In the re application package let your sister include a copy of her passport and visa, that she will be traveling with her. The key thing is to explain every inflow into your mum bank account to demonstrate that you send her money regularly for her upkeep. Good luck.

The ECO did not believed the income from your business in your bank statement, in which payment was made using a hand written invoice.

If it is for this visa o... and you decide or plan on adding the 2m to ur application, you have to liquidate it and present a very convincing documentation to show it is your money and then you can transfer it to your account. Don’t bother telling any visa officer ‘it is my money and I can access it under 24hrs... they don’t believe such’

You have said it as it is.

If she does this there will be no issues provided she haa an investment certificate.

Cover letter is just making explanation of what u want the ECO to know. This guidance will give us glue on what to write.

Date
Address of UK Embassy in Lagos or Abuja
Dear sir/madam

Cover letter for tourist visa
Name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, standard visiting visa.

I am writing in support of my application. You start to discuss every details in paragraph. Write what u feel the ECO should know about. For example:-

Inflows of cash
My salary is my main source of income that enters my account, explain any big credit entries if you have any.

Savings
If you have savings explain

Other assets if you have

Itinerary
Talk about your itinerary (attached as well).

Accommodation
Talk about your accommodation if someone else is taking care of accommodation for u.

budget
Air ticket
Accommodation
Living expenses
Shopping / Miscellaneous

Total estimate of xxxxx which will be funded from my savings account or salary from first bank and GTB.

Mention your supporting documents.

Finally convince the ECO that u are a genuine visitor only seeking entry for a tourist visa as stated in your application and will definitely return to your own country after your vacation is over. Give ties you have in Nigeria that will convince the ECO that u will come bk home.

Thank you

Hello all gurus in the house, i would reeeaaallly appreciate if I could get some advice here. I am a Uk citizen who lives in Nigeria with my husband two small kids and a teenager who i have legal guardianship of.

My husband is not a British citizen, 2 small kids are British citizens, teenager is not a British citizen.

I am planning to move over to the UK and settle there. my problem is how to get the teenager over with me and my two kids, hubby is planning to join us later.

i have legal guardianship of her done in the Nigerian court since 2016.
Do I have to get parental adoption of her??
What type of visa would I apply for her??
Would she be granted when i do not have a job in the UK??
Or do I have to travel and get a job first before applying for her??

She is 15 years and will turn 16 in June 2020.

Please Please someone should help me out

Sorry about your refusal.

Basically the ECO doubts your credibility based on how credits were made into your account some few months before you made your application which he claimed are even more than your stated annual income. Kindly respond to these to help us analyse your case well:
1. What is the usual mode of salary paid into your account?
2. Do you always do cash deposits into your account?
3. Were the cash deposits more than your annual salary? and what is the origin of the funds deposited?

Regards,

Adopting her will be the best. And as for getting a job, you don't need one since u British, the UK is your home and your kids are British, then all you need to do is pick your British passport up and off you go...

Except you have no where to leave inside the UK, cause as far as I know, you, your kids and your adopted girl all have access to public fund.

AbuNasir you may try Saudi Arabia where u can feel at home. In Europe you are regarded as a prospective terrorist not deserving of visa.

My humble thoughts.

Your mind is dirty and polluted to have that thought. If you cannot make a sensible comment, just read and move on. People like you speak dirt and smell foul.

@AbboNasir, I would advice you invest that money into any business in Nigeria. What you will spend trying to settle down in any European country will definitely run into millions and waste most of your precious years. Travelling to Europe or america is better when you have the money to help you settle down as quickly as possible. N1m when converted can not last 3 months.

I know it may not be what you want to hear, but that's the truth no one will tell you. Keep doing what you are doing and re-invest the money you have now wisely. I am sure in few years to come, you will be in a better position to travel abroad for greener pasture.
