From Abuja to Lagos to Maiduguri they call the shot in life activities.

A Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa in government looting the treasury of Nigeria is doing so for his family, igbos that is fully engaged in something doing benefits more from Hausa man that is shopping government money.

Guy nobody envies Igbos. Why? Because been Igbo does not innoculate you from the challenges of making a living in Nigeria. The average Nigerian (of all tribes) have to hustle to make a living. If you are not connected to politicians, if you are not a member of the ruling class, if your family is not already rich, or if you are not lucky to have one of those lucrative jobs (oil companies, top bank jobs etc.), if you are not a drug pusher or top level kidnapper, my brother, you have to hustle to make even 1 naira. That is the reality of been a Nigerian.

First, I am Yoruba. Now on the issue. You do agree that it makes no sense for a Yoruba to enthrone a Fulani as no.1 traditional ruler in a Yoruba land?
it is strange but know it was the British that ensured it was like this.

Yorubas revolted along with some Hausas from Borgu about back in the days, but the British ensured a Fulani will always be the Emir of ilorin because they felt Yorubas are always rebellious.

Earlier in Nigeria, Yorubas also revolted, but they lost out with the help of Amadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa.

Yoruba Ilorin are their own problem. Until they see themselves first as yoruba before being muslims they will continue being enslaved by fulani.
Majority of them believe all what they are doing are islamic traditions, but unknown to them that they are fulani culture. Are you more islamic than your kinsmen in south west whos still hold on to yoruba culture?

What many people don't understand (except the Igbos that are just mischievous) is that, religion is playing a bigger role in Ilorin matter.

If the Yoruba Muslims in Ilorin are ready to change that title, they will.

I was born in Ilorin and live most of my life here. Some people especially the Igbo's will just sit in their rooms and be typing shii on what they are ignorant of.
Even some of the Emir's children and family can not even speak Fulani language again. The dominating language in Ilorin is Yoruba. In addition, how many Fulani has become the governor in Kwara before?

You are very misguided. You miss the point. The Emir can bear all the Yoruba names in the world and speak the most pristine form of Yoruba language, it does not change the fact that he [and his ancestors] is Fulani--they do not even deny it.

Ilorin, as it stands today, is a province of the Sokoto caliphate; a territory conquered and effectively administered [in the traditional sense] by the Fulanis.

Both Saraki and Tunde Idiagbon are also of Fulanis heritage. Ilorin is, indeed, a Yoruba town ruled by a blood-line of Fulani aristocracy. This has never even been in doubt. It is ridiculous to have people talk what you talk.

P.S.: leave the Igbos out of this, please.

You don't need to be silly.

Afonja was killed in riot by those he led who were mostly Muslims. Some of his followers were Yoruba Muslims, some were Hausa from Borgu empire, some were Fulanis.

Hence, unlike the rest of emirs in the North, the installation of the Emir of Kwara is unique.

Why was he not replaced by a Yoruba Muslim? I guess it is because of this curse

Afonja ran to Ilorin and started to govern the town . But before Aole died , he put a curse on Afonja by shooting four arrows to the four corners of the earth that Afonja and his sons would be slaves in their domain.

Just forget about illorin and focus on defending the other part from the fulani Invaders disguising as herdsmen

That's interesting. I did not know there is a British component to this issue. At any rate, it is a wrong that must be corrected either the Fulanis (or their fake Yoruba conspirators aka Gambaris) like it or not.

Go and read history bruv.

Afonja seeked the help of Alimi(a Fula-islamic) scholar to get independence from Oyo empire and won the independence.

He led after he won but soon became an outsider to the mainly Muslims fighters he led. He was assassinated in one of the riots amongst his fighters.

The fighters then selected the son of the Islamic leader Abdul to lead them. Abdul than sent message to Sokoto caliphate that he has managed to establish a vessel state for the Fulanis among the Yorubas.

The history is on the internet.

Why should a supposed Yoruba land have Emir instead of Oba?
What is the meaning of Emir in Yoruba language?
Ilorin is dead and gone to Fulanis

What is multi-cultural about a Fulani man being the no.1 traditional ruler in Ilorin- a Yoruba land? True multi-culturalism is when the Fulani man steps down and a Yoruba traditional ruler becomes no.1 in Ilorin. Then and only then can you say multi-cultural. Or do you expect the Queen of England to be replaced by an American or African in the name of multi-culturalism?

They are very satisfied with Emire than Oba. They would want to dress as fulani do, which they think it is in tandem with islam whearas it has nothing to do with islam. They once said that obaship will bring ocultic practices to ilorin so they prefer emir with turban.

They should free themselves from religoius nonsense.

I know the whole story my brother. That is why I always say the folly of Afonja will never be repeated on planet Earth. You southwesterners should learn to keep religion in it deserved place like the rest of the south.
Yorubas in illorin can't seem to agree in any thing. Don't allow any zone to conquer you with religion. I don't know if it is the curse because to me it seems easy for the majority Yoruba in illorin to establish a king chasing out the fulanis. A village here in Delta have two Kings

It's interesting to know that Jebba is Yoruba. It does not look like the Yorubas have learnt a lesson from their experience with the Fulanis in Ilorin.
The Fulanis took over the place from you and have been dominating you by using the instruments of federal might. Yet you are still providing maximum support to a bigoted Fulani who is clearly bent on taking over the whole of Nigeria for his Fulani ethnic group.
Meanwhile, this guy is insisting that he wants freedom from the Fulani in Ilorin while the Yorubas in Ilorin gave Buhari massive support in the last election. I can only wish him good luck.
