Hello! We have quite a few of these in our inventory, do you know if we use them in an anti-personnel role?
These are upgraded versions. You can't compare them with NA versions.

This is the MOD, Bashir Magashi's first operational visit. He meets with troops in Gubio, and says their operational/welfare/admin needs will be addressed and improved.
All eyes are on the new MOD now, to see how much, how well, he will steer the affairs the military to improve security in the Northeast.

The French in Mali and our people here cannot be compared. Those guys are thoroughly professionals who are armed to the yansh. More importantly they have air cover and situational awareness via drones and satellite data. The possibility of their being ambushed are very slim. The case is not the same here.
By the way, since armor is useless why not enlist, go through special forces training and show us pictures of you and your squad mates gallivanting all over the north east in a Volkswagen beetle.
You shouldn't expire to be Neo-Colonialist anyway.....

Kai, stop this dancing about. The US SF ambushed at Tongo Tongo weren't armed to the yansh or didn't have access to eyes in the sky?

Don't resort to emotions when you can't hold up a good point.
If the first thing that flies into your head when you hear SF is Armored vehicles you have no business quoting me
The USF forces who were ambushed were morons who broke the rules and ignored security protocols. They paid for it with their lives. I didn't say special forces don't use soft skinned vehicles, cos they do. What I'm driving at is that using such vehicles in the north east is not ideal cos there is too much likelihood of ambush or running into IED.

That's why routes are meticulously planned and recced. SF ops are as detailed as a surgery operation (and that's why I said the mission states the tool)

I can guess you're imagining its a routine infantry patrol they do
Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Nobody: 7:41pm On Sep 10, 2019
SF generally r in and out guys

The move in quick and fucck or get fuccked and move out quick

So mobility triumphs protection in their case.

And they don't use routes , they bypass them as a habit to remain incognito as much as possible.

However regular troops in patrols or convoy duties need protection over mobility.

What the command is trying to do with the resources available at hand in their area of responsibility determines more or less the outcomes we get to see.

Regular troops in general duty need armour becz they will be the operating in the vicinity of threats and due to the nature of job a magnet for hits by hostiles due to their visibility.

SF r not meant to be used as magnets for punishment or put in a situation where they end up getting unsolicited attention , then their role and mandate is wasted and they get wacker.

In conventional missions SF will always perform worse than the regular troops.

I believe people make the common mistake of mixing the roles of the 2 , SF and regular infantry.

Also SF r vulnerable , things will not always go as planned, Murphy's law .

Kids know nothing come here and be ranting rubbish. If Boko haram/ISWAP was a traditional conventional/guerrilla force like we've seen with most other rebel groups it would have since been crushed too by the Nigerian Army that has the pedigree of destroying or keeping the peace between such state sponsored rebel armies from the Congo in the 60's to the Biafran Army, the Sierra Leonean Army and its associated insurgent groups, Liberia's Charles Taylor's Army to other sundry rebel organizations like UNITA. The difference here is the ideology. In ISWAP/BHT we have islamafacists terrorists who come to die not necessarily to win the war but to inflict as much pain as possible on the superior military power it fights. UNITA in itself was crushed by Angola with support from many countries like Cuba and Nigeria.

Nigeria especially stood out in the liberation struggle of many African states with material and financial support including in some cases direct clandestine military support by way of military advisers and weapons. So pls when attempting to bash Nigeria stop looking in the wrong places. The Nigerian Military today is better, is still very powerful, highly capable and maintains the necessary deterrence capabilities against contemporary african states including Angola.

CAS TASKS PERSONNEL ON DEDICATION TO DUTY, WARNS ON DANGERS OF FAKE NEWS AS HE COMMISSIONS RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION IN MAKURDI

In continuation of his visits to Nigerian Air Force (NAF) units and formations across the Country to ascertain current operational status as well as keep personnel abreast of policy direction, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar today, 10 September 2019, paid a visit to Tactical Air Command (TAC), NAF Makurdi. During the operational visit, the CAS held an interactive session with officers, airmen and airwomen, where he urged them to remain loyal and absolutely dedicated to their constitutional role of protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity by air. He also warned against the dangers of fake news. The visit equally afforded the CAS the opportunity of commissioning 4 Airmen’s Quarters recently renovated as part of the extensive infrastructural upgrade by the current NAF leadership to improve the welfare of NAF personnel. The renovated Quarters include 2 blocks of 12 x one-bedroom flats for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and another 2 blocks of 6 x 2-bedroom flats for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs). The CAS also assessed progress of work on some ongoing projects in NAF Base Makurdi.

Air Marshal Abubakar expressed his appreciation to officers, airmen and airwomen for their various contributions to NAF operations in the Northeast, Northwest and North-central Theatres, amongst others. He added that their efforts and dedication were responsible for the successes recorded in these theatres of operations. The CAS reiterated that his desire, upon assumption of Office, was to have a highly-professional and disciplined fighting force for effective and efficient employment of air power in response to national security imperatives. He expressed satisfaction that in the last 4 years, the Service had made substantial progress in achieving this. “To achieve this objective”, he said, “we had to expand our organizational structure by creating 2 additional Commands - the Special Operations Command (SOC) with Headquarters in Bauchi, while the erstwhile Training Command was unbundled to create the Air and Ground Training Commands (ATC and GTC)”. He further stated that the SOC, with its component Quick Response Groups and Wings (QRGs and QRWs), was specifically established to bridge identified gaps in the force protection capability of the Service whilst also enhancing NAF’s contribution to internal security operations across the Country and bringing security closer to the people. In terms of aircraft acquisition, the CAS highlighted that through the tremendous support of the Federal Government, the NAF had inducted 29 brand new aircraft in the last 4 years with another 20 new ones being expected in the next 2 to 3 years. Meanwhile he noted that the Federal Government’s support had also facilitated the reactivation of 20 erstwhile unserviceable aircraft, which were currently adding value to operations in the various theatres.

In terms of training and human capacity development, he noted that by October 2019, the NAF would have winged 115 pilots, in just over 4 years, with another 94 student pilots undergoing training both locally and abroad. He specifically highlighted that among the 13 pilots who would be winged in October, are the first NAF female fighter pilot and the first NAF female combat helicopter pilot. The CAS equally observed that many other NAF specialties were also receiving attention. He noted that, in the area of personnel welfare, the NAF had embarked on massive infrastructural development including the establishment of new medical and educational facilities as well as the upgrade of existing ones within the last 4 years. He pointed out that 2 Reference Hospitals were established in Bauchi and Daura, while the NAF Hospital in Port Harcourt had also been upgraded to a Reference Hospital. He also added that other NAF Hospitals and Medical Centres had witnessed upgrade of medical equipment. Air Marshal Abubakar noted that the NAF had renovated and constructed new blocks of classrooms and hostel accommodations in existing NAF schools across NAF units while establishing 2 new secondary schools. These are the Air Force Girls Comprehensive School Abuja and the Air Force Secondary School (AFSS) Shasha, Lagos. He remarked that the AFSS Kaduna had also been upgraded to a boarding school and renamed Air Force Comprehensive School Kaduna. Moreover, the CAS disclosed that the NAF, through massive construction of new residential accommodation and renovation of existing ones, had been able to raise the level of accommodation sufficiency from 35 to about 72 per cent, despite almost doubling the strength of its personnel in the last 4 years. While observing that accommodation challenges still existed in terms of number and quality, especially in Makurdi, he promised that the NAF would continue to take necessary action with a view to eliminating the deficiencies.

Earlier in his remarks, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command (AOC TAC), Air Vice Marshal Charles Ohwo, whilst welcoming the CAS during commissioning ceremony, expressed delight that the CAS’ visits to the Command always bring benefits in terms of improvement of operational capabilities as well as enhancement of personnel welfare. He pledged the commitment of all personnel of the Command to mission accomplishment whilst urging beneficiaries of the remodeled blocks to ensure that the facilities are properly maintained. Also present at the commissioning ceremony were Branch Chiefs from Headquarters NAF, the Commandant Air Force War College, Commander Operation WHIRL STROKE, Commandant Nigerian Navy Provost School, Deputy Commandant Nigerian Army School of Military Engineers as well as Principal Staff Officers from TAC and Commanders of co-located Units in Makurdi, along with other senior NAF officers.

ISWAP TERRORISTS SUFFER FURTHER LOSSES AS NAF JET DESTROYS GUN TRUCK, IMMOBILIZES ANOTHER AT GARUNDA IN BORNO STATE

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has dealt another blow on the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements by completely destroying an ammunition-laden gun truck and immobilising another one belonging to the group at Garunda in the Northern part of Borno Sate. This was achieved yesterday, 10 September 2019, when a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft on armed reconnaissance mission along the Gudumbali-Zari-Garunda axis spotted 2 ISWAP gun trucks emerging from Jumaacheri settlement heading towards Garunda.

The attack aircraft tracked the 2 gun trucks as they attempted to evade detection by driving into folliage. The aircraft engaged one of the gun trucks, which was camouflaged under a tree, in successive passes scoring accurate hits leading to the neutralization of some of the ISWAP occupants. The gun truck was later seen engulfed in flames as a result of multiple mini-explosions of the on-board ammunition. The other gun truck was also tracked and immobilized after its occupants had abandoned it under another tree in the area.

The NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its operations against the terrorists in the Northeast.

No kidnapping required grin

If u start a defence company , u should be looking to kidnap domain experts specialising in niche areas on which ur company wants to work on.

Seriously speaking I see a low investment medium to high return opportunity as of now , if u guys can start a garage startup offering solutions to outfit the Toyotas with roll on roll off mission modules like fire support , comm support , surveillance and reconnaissance support etc , u guys would have a good opportunity.

Get the patents , register the IPRs and help urself to the hundreds of Toyota's in military service all around .

So much opportunity in defence industry in Nigeria

I support the tenacious zeal for nuclear armament though, at the end of the day, the threat of mutual annihilation will make us all agree to do away with those horrible weapons. In the mean time, let's all arm ourselves to the yansh grin

South Africa's Lucas Majozi (1916-1969) was awarded the highest medal received by an African soldier in the Second World War; the DCM (Distinguished Conduct Medal).

With several bullets in his body, Majozi returned to the battlefront time after time into machine gunfire to pull out wounded men during the Second Battle of El Alamein which commenced on October 23, 1942.
Here's the full story

A true South African hero – Cpl. Lucas Majozi DCM

A very notable South African hero. The highest award gained by a Black South African soldier in the Second World War was the DCM (Distinguished Conduct Medal) awarded to a stretcher-bearer, Lucas Majozi (1916-1969).

The DCM was the second highest British award for gallantry after the Victoria Cross. It was awarded to Lucas Majozi for the great bravery that he displayed during the epic battle of El Alamein which commenced on 23 October 1942 when the British 8th Army under command of General B L Montgomery attacked the German/Italian forces under command of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. The 1st South African Division played a spearhead role.

It had to breach the German minefield which had been sown with more than half a million mines. The 1/2 FFB, soon after the battle began, was pinned down in the minefield by German machine gun and artillery fire. The regiment suffered very severe casualties.

Throughout the night of 23 October, the stretcher-bearers worked under heavy enemy fire, tending to the wounded and evacuating them from the battlefield. For the purpose of this article, the citation given to Lucas Majozi, NMC, for the DCM is given below: No N 17525 Cpl Lucas Majozi, NMC, a Zulu from Zastron, Orange Free State att. FFB – Distinguished Conduct Medal.
