That is not a good sign at all.... it might be as serious as a cardiac event. Those are classic hypertension signatures....but again it might not. Persistent pain in that region and in that way cannot be a tea party.

Good evening good people. I am hoping I will get some help here.
Pls this will be a bit a long. I beg you to read. So you can understand better.

My problem started last year April (2018). I was diagnosed with typhoid and malaria. I was started on a course of treatment that involves anti malaria and an antibiotics (azithromycin). I noticed the quality of my sleep was dropping after taking the antibiotic for 2 days. My instincts was that it was the medicine. I eventually stopped taking it but by then my sleep have become badly affected. I woke up a Sunday morning after taking some drinks the previous night at a wedding with one severe type of headache ( I started the antibiotics on Thursday, took on Friday and missed it that Saturday) I continued that Sunday morning. So I eventually stopped all medicine and consulted a doctor friend. By then I had gone two nights with little or no sleep. He prescribed some drugs that was meant to induce sleep and even increased the dosage yet I still couldn't sleep.

Meanwhile before then, I am someone who could be called a sleeper. I can sleep at anytime without stress. I even take naps here and there in my office. So it was strange.

I eventually went to some hospitals and their treatment involved giving me sleep medicines and sometimes it could help me get very little amount of sleep and then it will make me feel very groggy and heavily fatigued. By this time a weird sensation have developed in the left side of my back head (this pain doesn't come and go... It is permanent). After spending some huge amounts I wasn't getting relief until I went to a neurologist. He first suspended all the sleep medications and started giving me amitriptyline 5mg every night ( after few days I started feeling better and had some deep sleep) but still the problem wasn't gone ( head pain and stiff neck).

I was paying about 30k monthly at the neurologists. It wasn't sustainable and I eventually stopped and decided to take my fate in my own hands. I eventually stopped taking any medication for sleep last November.

Between then and now, I have had some good nights where I slept very deeply and nights when I struggled. I have gone like 2 weeks without sleep issues. But still the pain in the back of the head and neck still persist.

Just yesterday I went to consult another gp and his diagnosis was that it was the poor sleep that is causing the pain in the head and neck. But I still find it difficult to believe. I will be having a video session with an Indian neurologist tommorow and I hope he will make a different diagnosis.

My coming here is to know if anyone have had an experience with my case and I would like to know how they solved their problem.

I will appreciate any suggestion that will be of help.

Thank you.
chai...my patner. I am u and u are me.
Relax...ur neck pain is caused by ur sleep. Wat u will do is physiotherapy. Not normal exercise...they will plug some machines to ur neck and massage it...it will take the pain to 10% then normal sleep will heal the rest
Goodluck

Do you work on computers or bend your neck a lot to look at your phone? You may need an MRI of the neck for proper diagnosis. Leave your contact and I will get in touch. I had something similar recently.

It’s high blood pressure.

There’s a medicinal plant called “King of Bitters”, go get it and chew occasionally as needed.

9 leaves for males, 7 for females.

If you're not hypertensive, I suggest you do CT Scan. If your scan is ok, then don't worry, you'll be ok. Regular Exercise will go a long way in helping you sleep. You don't need to go to gym; trekking about four KM everyday will go a long way

I had similar case like yours but mine was more crazy. It all started with severe headache and stiffneck, crazy excruciating stomach ache, serious intermittent fever and thick greenish and mucoid feces. During this period, I couldn't sleep too and on getting to first teaching hospital as usual, they claimed it is malaria and typhoid which i treated without improvement. Infact, I got to notice anything i take the antibiotics, the symptoms worsens. I couldn't cope with everyday life so had to be admitted in the hospital, and during this period was also having severe cold feet. The doctor i met in the hospital that I was admitted suspected meningitis and it was like a pump of antibiotics and fluid for the next five days. There was an improvement from headache and stiffneck and started feeling burning sensation in my feet and also lightness of whole body. Add me up on WhatsApp let us continue there because it's a long story but thank God am feeling much better 08139603681

Stay away from all antibiotic for 10days and then go for a blood culture, possibly bacteria in your blood (septicemia).
you're right, had the exact problem on 2001, was seriously down with acute malaria and enteric fever, went to blood culture and was diagnosed with septicaemia. I had all the OP symptoms but mine was more severe than his. I suffered all his symptoms including dizziness and severe fatigue. I took all the antibiotics in the world till one man from ebonyi state gave me one leave I took with boil garri and that was the end. till today I never had the symptoms again.

Did you do any MRI or CT of head and neck? I suspect some toticolis of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Go for a massage of the neck and also take some muscle relaxant like diazepam.

Smoke natural green weed (igbo), not these ones they mix with all manner of chemicals calling it SK or Arizona. Just smoke pure natural green, potent one and within a week the pain will stop.
It worked for me.

Have had something similar to you but what caused mine is the stress of the neck when sleeping which will cause headache with to the back or side of head . If it’s that you need to adjust how you sleep and your neck position on mother’s pillow . Hopefully that is it

Hmm. Welcome to the club sad to say. Been on BP medication for 20 years +.
Dont sleep and have to browse or watch TV until I pass out. Even drink but cannot sleep. Take Valium and have to wait to pass out but wake up after 2hrs.
I guess I worry too much. Think too much over things others will sleep about.
The buhari next level has also made it worse thinking of providing for family. School fees etc. Pikin Wan go uni for UK at 460 naira per £ and they are 3. Lol.
My advice is just think less. Try to stay awake all day and not take a nap day time. Focus on work.
If you are married, lay your head on your wife's tommy and get her to scratch your back. All the mosquito bites etc and I bet you, you will pass out in no time. Lol. That is my natural sleeping medication grin
