Over 70 people from all over the country contested the 2019 election and only one person won. El-Rufai’s right to legitimately aspire for the presidency is constitutionally guaranteed. That he wants to contest doesn’t mean he will win. In fact, he cannot win. Dankwambo, Tambuwal, Kwakwanso and some other PDP governors aspired to be president in 2019, we all know how it ended.

All the northern politicians floating around the idea that they want to run in 2023 are only doing so to position themselves for Vice President. They know APC will zone its presidential ticket to the south. Even if APC will field a northerner, it won’t be from the north west. So, no cause for alarm. Let’s allow El-Ruffy to keep testing the waters.

You're just being comical. What gives the guarantee that APC will zone its ticket to the south in 2023? Is the agreement in written format? What bargaining chip does the south have except for appeal to conscience and morality? Same El-rufai just ran on a muslim-muslim ticket in a religiously sensitive state like Kd, a first time ever thing in Kd politics. A divided south gives the north the impetus to hold on to power. A lot of notable politicians in the north have been talking up the possibility of the north retaining power. So tell me, what aces the south has to force the narrative in their favour?

2 Attempted Suicide as Unilorin Denied over 300 Students from Graduating.
It was reported to us few days ago that a particular lady attempted suicide in her hostel. To God be thy glory, she was caught in the act and was taken to the University Mosque to stay with other Muslim sisters. Prior to this, a particular guy was reported to have bought sniper while his twin bro was the person God used to save him.
The suicidal attempts prompt us to go into the university community to know what is really happening. Below is the information we gathered from both students and staffs in the University.

In August, 2019 it was viral in the University community that certain number of students’ portal were locked by the university management.
Affected Students were so troubled while majority approach the university management on the issue. It was reported that; students illegally access their results via a particular link different from the normal portal. Because, in University of Ilorin, final year students can’t access their results on their portal. The said link is being used to gain access to their hidden results.
The University proceed in sending letter to the affected students departments instructing the department not to process the students results for graduation. It came as a joke! The H.O.D of each department invited the concern students telling them the decision of the management on their case.
Fast forward to the University Senate Sitting. During the sitting, information reached us that some Professors argued with the Vice Chancellor (Prof. Age) stating that, the students should be allowed to graduate since there is no stated punishment for the said offence in the University handbook. Besides, there is no evidence to prove the students affected actually did it themselves due to what has been happening on the University website overtimes. It was reported to us that, the Vice Chancellor (Prof. Abdulkareem Age) disagree with them while he said the matter should be pending till further notice.
A day after the sitting, graduating list was released while other students were processed for convocation ceremony.
Our team went to the University, we got information from students and some staffs as regards this issue. The said link and Spreadsheet that the University claimed is been used by students has been in existence for over 4 years. In fact, it was said that more than 60% of the students uses it to check their results before been released officially. And a particular staff said, the link cannot be used to change results. It can ONLY aide the students in seeing their results.
We proceed with our investigation. From one of the staff at COMSIT, we were told that a particular man called Prof. Adeniran (from faculty of Engineering) is the one behind this dilemma. His the one pushing this case ever since he heard students now have access to their results via a particular link.
It was reported that, Prof. Adeniran went to report the Deputy Vice Chancellor academics (Prof. Malomo) twice stating that; students now have back end into the university portal where they change their results and he has set trap for some set students who used the link (the 300 plus). We were told that; the Changing of results part was what triggered Prof. Malomo which made her reacts to the case.
Also, from our investigation, we gathered that Most students affected doesn’t have idea about it because, via that spreadsheet, other students’ results can be accessed. Besides, we gathered that during electioneering period in the school, people from COMSIT gives students’ politicians COMPLETE DATABASE of other students which contains their portal password for voting processes. It was reported that; the management is aware students have their colleague’s password especially during electioneering period. We were told that, the Sub Dean Student Affairs Unit (Dr Alex Akanmu) has full idea on how these things works. We were told, he made it known to the Vice Chancellor on the inauguration day for the New Student Union Executives that; Some people hacked into the university portal and gave some candidates thousands of votes few hours when the election commence before it was detected.
The above information made it glaring that, most students affected don’t really have idea about it because it is easy for another person to access their portal due to viral availability of their details.
Yesterday, it was reported to us that the Students Union will release an update about the issue but to our surprise no information has been release till this moment.
We gathered early this morning that, the affected students will be invited for Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC) for investigation. In University of Ilorin, nobody goes to SDC without been punished. That’s why we are writing this to the world. Please, come to the aide of these students. They are helpless. They cannot talk. The management threatened them that it mustn’t get to the internet. Convocation is 23rd of October… These students must graduate with others….. NIGERIANS HELP… OTO GE PROF. AGE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fellow Nigerians, your help is needed.
Enough is Enough Unilorin
Enough is Enough Prof Age
Free these students

obj got the biggest support from the SE in 2003 and 1999

he was voted en masse because he is not a tribalist but a nationalist

too bad leaders like obj are not liked much in SW because he does not give that "tiwan tiwan" vibe like the likes of Tinubu and AreIGBEshola undecided

and yes
a lot of igbos were appointed (the technocrats, not the agberos ) by obj like Soludo, Nwankwo, Okonjo iweala, Akunyuli etc

and they gave a good account of themselves

igbos support one who does not give the tribalism vibe

Yaradua OBJ
Buhari gives that vibe as Nigerians have seen

so he gets no support
This is june12 result, south east gorgeously voted against a man from south west, abiola, abiola won in most part of north including tofa home town kano, this shows the level of Igbo hatred against Yoruba, you voted obasanjo because you have no option, this is also against southwest candidate, the person of olufalae, today u guys are demonising tinubu for forming alliance with buhari.

South east is the greatest betrayal and reason why south is united.

Stop playing the ostrich my friend. Nigeria is a deeply divided country and as a result, we must never shy away from ensuring there is balance in our politics. There is more than enough tension from fear of ethnic and religious domination. If we refuse to accept our weaknesses and make arrangement to assuage them, we are definitely heading the way of Yugoslavia.

And who told you we can’t get someone from the north and south every eight years that can deliver good governance?

This comment of yours is suggestive that you know what's up, but you just decided to feign ignorance. Why should PDP's choice of presenting a Northerner pose a headache to you? If APC decides to zone its presidency to South, why should PDP tow the path? PDP too wants to take over power and they are ready to give it to the region with the numerical advantage.

Bros, gbagbe! It's either APC picks Tinubu and loses or picks El-Rufai, et al, and retains power.

•Posters, souvenirs flood Kaduna

•Why we’re supporting gov’s ambition– LG chair, others

Noah Ebije, Kaduna

The popular saying among Nigerians, nay, Africans, that there is no smoke without fire, may have readily given credence to the current strong speculations that the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai has made up his mind to run for the 2023 presidential election as a candidate from the north under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

President Muhammadu Buhari, a northerner, is serving his second term in office following his victory at the February presidential election. The latest move by El-rufai, which remains in the background for now, to take a shot at the presidential race in 2023 may go a long way to thwart permutations on the return of power to the South after the North would have had its eight years.

The ‘smoke’ that may have indicated that there is actually a ‘fire’ somewhere towards the presidential ambition of El-rufai was further amplified by some youths in Kaduna State who are believed to be loyal to APC and are already adorning T-shirts with the inscription, “El-rufai for presidency, 2023”.

The youths in their numbers, penultimate Monday, stormed Kaduna Government House, wearing the shirts under El-rufai’s nose to celebrate the tribunal’s judgement that upheld his governorship election against the candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Isah Ashiru.

Some of the youths were seen discussing in groups shortly after the celebration in the Government House. Also, posters, bearing El-rufai’s picture for 2023 presidency were earlier sighted on Kaduna streets, particularly along Gwamna road, in the city centre.

Reacting to the development, a political analyst in the State who did not want his name in print noted that, “I don’t see how a volunteer printer in this hard time will use his or her meagre financial resources to print posters and shirts for a politician who is swimming in money. So there must be an unseen hand funding the project from behind, and very soon the coast will be clear for all to see the man behind the wheels. Let’s just wait and see how the event will unfold”.

However, reacting to the speculation on El-rufai’s ambition, the National Coordinator, Buhari Mass Movement (BMM) in 2015 election and 2019 re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Basheer Garba Umar said El-rufai has the constitutional right to gun for the country’s number one position if he so wished.

Umar who also contested Kaduna governorship elections in 2003 under the platform of National Conscience Party (NCP) and United Nigeria Peoples Party (UNPP) in 2007 respectively without success, added that he is ready to support El-rufai for the presidential race.

According to him, “El-rufai will have my outright support as I deem him an achiever per excellence and a bridge builder. He is constitutionally qualified as a Nigerian to contest for the office. He will be able to muster support in his immediate constituency, North West and by extension Northern Nigeria. Whoever contests with him will surely have some headache as he is a strategist and better than others who feel they can strategize”.

Also, in a recent news item on the Kaduna State owned radio station, 90.9 FM which was aired on September 17, the chairman, Lere local government area, Alhaji Abubakar Buba said, “We will do everything possible to make sure that Governor El-rufai contests the 2023 presidential election”.

“The quality and leadership style of Governor Nasir El-rufai has started attracting agitation from individuals and groups calling on him to contest the 2023 presidential election. One of the groups, Nasiriya organisation inaugurated recently in Kaduna to champion sensitization of the people on the need to work towards achieving this goal. The national chairman of the organisation, Garkuwa Ibrahim Buwaya said the decision was informed by the capability and wisdom of the governor to consolidate on the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari after his second term in office”.

For the Kaduna State Publicity Secretary of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Abraham Catoh, “Governor Nasir El-rufai’s speculated aspiration for the 2023 presidential election is entirely his personal decision, which is anchored on the 1999 Constitution and it is also an intra-party affair. In any case, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is still in court challenging the 2019 presidential elections.

Should the Supreme Court judgement favour the PDP and Atiku Abubakar, El-rufai and other presidential aspirants would set aside their aspirations till the end of Atiku’s tenure. The legal battle is still on, I can’t speak further than this”.

But for the officials of the State All Progressives Congress (APC), their silence over the speculation was too loud. Neither the State chairman, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jakanda (Retd) nor the State Secretary, Yahaya Baba Pate responded to text messages sent to them by our Correspondent over the issue.
