Do you know what payoneer is used for?

No one uses credit cards on payoneer.

Payoneer is used by freelancers, dropshippers and Kindle publishers to cash out their revenue.

Tech-savvy people are in trouble in this country.

Clone means it's not the real payoneer. It's a fake phishing site that is designed and dressed up like the real payooneer. You put your details inside and it goes straight to the fraudster.

I've been screaming from the rooftops that Nigerians must insist that the EFCC and Co should do things the right way, but no. Too much poverty, frustration and bad belle have damaged the brains and souls of most Nigerians. That's what they applaud and shout 'crucify him' whenever any of these annoying EFCC burst stories come up.

Imagine this re ta rded story. That his latest 'victim' sent a petition to the Inspector General of Police, who then dispatched IGP team to 'trace' and arrest him. What a load of hot bullshit. Of course I'm sure the IGP team randomly accosted him or acted on the tips of a bad belle snitch, and then tried to extort him of huge sums of money. When he refused, they then abducted him and bundled him to the EFCC. Now the whole thing is about scapegoating him and extorting him. Even the whole purported 'confession' is hogwash, contrived by the policemen and EFCC themselves and forced down on him.

I hope he is able to get a good lawyer to fight the case rather than succumb to the intimidation, blackmail and extortion agenda of these EFCC and police bastards.

We don't know what we're setting ourselves up for in this country. The worst is yet to come.

Some online business men are not wise too. How can you have such properties and not have a top notch lawyer and a registered business with physical goods. He was careless thou. But the news is too irritating to read. Nothing adds up.

He cloned the portal bro. Fake one that looked like the original and used it to collect the details of their credit card.

Payoneer is not a payment gateway that processes credit card transactions, so what exactly do you mean? Besides, it is IMPOSSIBLE to put fake Payoneer site links (or any phishing links for that matter) on Amazon. Even if it is possible, it can only be done by the most advanced Russian/Chinese etc hackers, but that's unlikely. So what exactly is going on here?

This doesn't add up.

The guy might be an Amazon KDP publisher. A lot of Amazon KDP publishers in Nigeria have to use Payoneer to receive their money from Amazon. he may then have been beaten up and forced to confess to this incoherent nonsense. How can the police claim he designed Payoneer? payoneer is a popular solution for people in third world countries to receive funds from global companies.

I call bullshit on this.

The Nigerian police is unprofessional and daft.

Don't worry, one day you will be paraded for nothing you know about and people seating in their houses would say "If he was innocent, he wouldn't be caught".

In the past three months alone, I have seen five cases of very innocent persons on Nairaland front page. They were paraded for various offences and later released after several court processes. If I didn't follow up on these cases, I would have been like you, thinking everyone that comes up in the news actually committed a crime.

You have a lot to learn about your country and the NPF.

My brother, forget that thing, he can make his buyers use outside system payment with a promise of discount and all that. They still do it till date. Many buyers easily fall for this.

Bro, the guy could be a fraudster but they have him on the wrong charge on this one. No way a book buyer will be convinced to pay outside Amazon. It's not even conceivable because they place orders straight without even contacting the seller.

Having a registered business with physical goods is not a legal requirement for wealth. We can't continue to encourage this kind of archaic and obnoxious mentality. Which physical goods or office does Tunde Ednut or the anonymous multi millionaire owner of instablog9ja have? Which physical goods does Linda Ikeji sell, and before her recent venture into media production business, which registered company did she have? Come on.

I can't help but laugh out loud. The reportage reeks of laughable ignorance. If the source is directly from EFCC then I must say that it's very embarrassing and shameful that our own anti graft agency can't do a proper job during investigation before releasing reports. They just swallowed the lies the alleged yahoo guy sold them hook, line, and sinker. Payoneer is an international business payment system that is owned by a US based company.

He steals the details when the buyer wants to make payment through the so called payoneer because on amazon if you are a seller you have to set up a payment method suitable for you, there are lot's of legit business you can do on amazon like buying from ebay and selling on amazon,at least you will make up to $30 per day

That's Amazon/Ebay dropshipping. Amazon mostly preferable payment gateway is PayPal. It's not practically possible to direct buyers to a phishing site.

Anybody that uses Payoneer as a form of legal buisnesss should write to them on Twitter or through their 'contact us' page on thier website and link this news to them. Express your dissatisfaction with the security of their services and how you'd like to know what's been done about it. The goal here to is try and get Payoneer to sue the Guardian newspaper for misleading information. I know you love your country, but it won't be long before freelancers are being hunted.

The guy will be walking home free if he gets a good lawyer. The illiteracy in our law enforcement rank and file is staggering. Most of them got into police with forged certificates.

Guy calm down, the crime he committed is more than that of what use will it be to make known his tactics of execution when the public have soo many preying eyes willing to engage in the same crime?
