Getting 2:2 in my Industrial Physics is almost as difficult as getting first class in other courses. I never let it bother me for a day because while it's a great course, I saw it as a waste of time studying it in Nigeria. All we did was cram long materials, equations, formulas and copy notes; no practicals, even the lecturers didn't understand what they were teaching us.
While schooling I acquired some other skills in electronics design and repairs, phone repairs, computer repairs, programming and others.
Today I run my own business in those skills that I acquired, infact the last time I saw my certificate was two months after NYSC service last year.

Op I'm a microbiology student who will also be graduating with a 2.2 this year.
But I won't let dat grade decide my future or weigh my intelligence...the most important thing to do is to think outside the box...
I already learned fashion design and I'm thinking of after finishing from school, den go into IT skills.

Never! Cos i knew it never defined me! Plus the fact that succeeding in my field (IT) is dependent on what you can do! and not how you studied!!!
i.e it is a practical feild.
I am easily distracted yet intelligent. at the end of 200level i already knew my graduating class. so i no just bother dey worry. i just maintained it. I have attended countless interviews and the issue of graduating class came up just once or twice. and I defended accordingly.

Never let your class of degree define you. it is okay to be bothered, work more on your skills (IT) and nobody will ever bother about 2.2 or 2.1.
And when you graduate, do not let class of degree discourage you from applying for jobs meant for a higher class. always hit the apply button once you know it is something you can do!! I once got a job that clearly had 2.1 as the requirement. I turned it down cos i got a better offer the same day!! wink

las las pray for grace my gee.

No my only regret is my course of study or maybe I wasn't just book smart right from time plus no matter how much hard work I put into my studies, the lecturer still gives me a C instead of an A or B. I would have preferred if I was sent to a vocational school than a University, but of course our parents were looking down on those blue collar jobs.

Never, it doesn't matter.
Just learn an IT skill.

IT is the way to go

I am a developer and I am a happy man smiley

My advice to someone without a job out there, go and learn an IT skill now... in a few years you will thank your God you did.
Can I pm you?

FYI i Graduated with a 2:2 i sometimes wish i got something better but it was totally beyond my control... from having to sit for a single course 3 times to a particular lecturer wahala who wanted to have his way with me... someone that takes us at least 2 core courses every semester to having to change department just after a semester in part 1 resulting in taking 3 core courses that i missed... after all this graduated with 3.2 close to 2:1 right? its so painful thanks to that lecturer but i've accepted my fate.

my testimony?
since finishing NYSC in 2018 i've changed jobs twice, never has there been a time i'm sitting home doing nothing.

so guy, you'll be fine, just trust God

Truth be told, university degrees DNT carry heavy weight as it use to in determining ow big you hit it in life .
My colleague finished with a 3rd class while me finished with a 2:2. He currently earns higher Dan me.
BK den he felt der was no hope at all for him.

It's wen u stat taking practical action in
money related activities dts only wen u can make a meaning out of ur life and not depending on ur certificate even 1st class no sure again in job mkt.

Not true mate.....I finished with a 2.2 and I am living my life through scholarship abroad. Now I am aiming to achieve my life long dream of travelling round the world. Grade or not, Wake up every morning and start talking to your destiny. Dream big. Be smart. Don’t let anybody talk you down. Even without knowing your worth with a first class degree, you will be talked down and will stoop low.

Not really, but in some cases you will feel like regretting most especially in the area of scholarships for master or phD.

Please, just be good at IT. With professional skills like coding, your grade doesnt even matter. If it is by your certificate, I have to be factual with you, with 2.2, getting a good job is slim except a govt job. Check all these private companies, they require 2.1 at least. And to crown it all, if you experience delay getting a job due to 2.2, you keep getting older, once you clock 30, e don dey red totally be that.

But I'm happy for you, IT is the biggest thing now. I've read a story of a trained lawyer, who after looking for good jobs for years switched to IT skill he learnt in 3 months (the IT skill wasn't mentioned though), applied for jobs and already got 6 figure salary job.

You even have prospect of applying for foreign jobs with IT skill. Someone just told the story of his female friend who applied for IT jobs in Luxembourg from Nigeria and got it and now in Germany with her family.

Be focus on that IT

This isn't not to say one can't get job with 2.2, but the reality is that, the chances are usually slim and left to luck.

Good luck
What type of IT skills do you advise a female to venture into? Will like your view on this, thanks

I'm a current undergraduate here in Nigeria, but almost a month from my final exams.
There's no magic that can make me achieve a 2:1 no matter what my grades are in this final exams.

To be honest, it hurts me a bit whenever I remember my GPA knowing that I could have done better.

I'm really curious,
Graduates in the house who graduated with 2:2, are there points where you feel like you actually regretted your GPA?
Me that I finished with 1. (Pass).. Wetin I go do. And yet I'm working at bank as a head marketing... Grade or no grade, destiny decides.. 2:2 ko 2:10 ni.. Who GP help

As Nigeria society is concern. you should regret. the only country where Grades are more honored than potential .

thankully, Facebook, Google, and Apple have both removed university qualification from their job requirement. grades are good anyway. but what matter to me is the application of such knowledge. so it will not be like education without knowledge.

All of you here are very smart except me. I graduated with same grade while my friends and roommates graduate with 2:1 so I was disturb and felt I have fail.

We were so close that we promised ourselves jobs if the opportunity comes. After NYSC, I called my friends how far and they said they are still jobless. That was when my eyes clear and I wake up from my slumber and start hustle. What hurt me is that I let grade define who I am because I love good grades but I didn't know much about the course I studied, when I got to understand it, I was blazing like fire but too late. Now, I am trying my best to recover from the wasted period and God help me.

Moral lesson:
Don't let anything bring you down. As far as you have life there is hope.
