mtisTheQubit: We humans are like mirrors we simply reflect what is in front of us. Left right bottom top of that we fail to see even a whole herd of dancing hippopotamus You are so worried about Google etc and their ability to manipulate etc and which u consider as a threat Yet u failed to note the ' corporation's ' which have existed since last thousand years. They r so mainstreamed, successful, rich , powerful , influencial, visible , invisible like no other corporation can ever be. And Google will need to bombard earth with more than 300 nukes to do the damage both in lives and property inorder to rival them. Governments , societies , groups , families , individuals r simply puppets on a chain. Master puppeteers had sowed the tunes long long ago. R u in tune or out of tune |

Someone threw this question on Twitter. --- Seriously, does anyone know what the technical technical distinction is between a non-line-of-sight suicide drone and a cruise missile? Or is it more of a 'I-know-it-when-I-see-it' kind of thing? --- @nemesis8u |

lionel4power: Technical distinction between NLOS drones and cruise missile ? That is not fixed becz different OEMs implement different solutions to same kind of systems. On a generic level for the sake of discussion only, the following could be considered as differences between NLOS drones and cruise missiles but as I said before there are no fixed differences becz technology is adaptable and there is lot of cross proliferation of the same between different types of systems. 1. NLOS drones generally have " man in the loop " Cruise missiles generally don't have " man in the loop " 2. NLOS drones generally r for " search and destroy " missions Cruise missiles generally r for " pre determined targets " 3. NLOS drones generally r " recoverable " Cruise missiles generally r " not recoverable " 4. NLOS drones r generally better at " persistent target engagement " . ie they can acquire target , initial attack run , abort run if required , reacquire target and initial attack run again. Cruise missiles generally have " low margin of time from arrival at target location to target engagement ". ie have one shot only at the target. 5. NLOS drones generally have higher " loitering capability " Cruise missiles generally have " low loitering capability " Etc NLOS drones generally have greater autonomy in its functions and involves greater AI based functionalities than a cruise missile. 'I-know-it-when-I-see-it' functionality is not platform / type dependent Rather it's generally depends on the sensors available on drones or cruise missiles. " Wide area " smart sensor coupled to AI based processing and decision making systems will endow any platform be it drones or cruise missiles with a 'I-know-it-when-I-see-it' kind capabilities. Generically speaking what seperates NLOS drones from cruise missiles is the flight characteristics. Even than overlapping of flight characteristics is there across the various systems available from different OEMs. 3 Likes |

Carrier ops ain't easy! Ofc getting a WORKING PLATFORM is half the job-ask the Brazilians now scrapping their sole carrier, the Sao Paulo,ex Clemenceau of the French navy! After just seven years of service in the Brazilian Navy where it was wracked with maintenance and structural problems, given that by the time it was purchased from the French it was already four decades old, Brazil's only aircraft carrier is now up for sale.https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/brazils-only-aircraft-carrier-auction-starting-bargian-12m The French would've scrapped it if not for the naive Brazilians. Bolsonaro should ensure the Navy brass pays for such a blunder. I've said it many times-direct costs and indirect costs, operating life, operating, maintenance and servicing should be fully taken into account before buying any weapons system from a gpmg or the Su 30 everyone here wants for their BD! 1 Like 1 Share

Glad to see the Phils' arming up! The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is poised to buy 16 units of Mi-17 medium-lift Russian helicopters worth $14.7 million each (approximately P779 million) or a total of US$235 million (P12.5 billion) as part of its modernization program as Moscow seeks better trade and defense ties with Manila.https://news.mb.com.ph/2019/09/30/p...an-choppers-duterte-all-set-for-moscow-visit/ However with 120 k active personnel in the whole AFP it may be wiser to establish an organic Army aviation unit and not waste such scarce platform. |

This particular ISR sensor configuration is quite interesting Eg. During deep SF ops into enemy territory It help to keep the routes on the rear clear of surprises in the event of enemy counter action on breaking silent and initiating contact in the front. It pics up both visual and audio signals And is easily placed anywhere be it high up on trees on ground as required. And helps to avoid ambush while falling back 1 Like 1 Share

HTT40 spin recovery onboard test video To train the newbies on spin recovery in fighter aircrafts , trainer aircrafts r required to have the capacity to go into spin , which is easy enough but the aircraft must also have the capability to recover from the spin so that the trainee pilots get the hang on how to recover a aircraft from uncontrolled spin if so their aircraft unfortunately enters into one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2cNVWDXGyQ HTT40 completed both left and right hand 6 turn spin recovery and is now close to be handed over to IAF for user trails and subsequent induction in large numbers. It was the last hurdle. On demand spin induction and subsequent recovery is a difficult feature to implement. IJT36 is struggling with this , experience gained from HTT40 will be helpful for IJT36 . IJT36 recently underwent rear fuselage modifications to allow better spin handling capabilities. 1 Like
