When we stop talking about Dafoe, Ronaldo, Suarez, Messi, man city and many clubs that have no SE players in them even when they are not playing relevant clubs, then we can keep to that rule.

For me SE players come first, SE hopefuls, other Nigerians, in that order. The new dawn of players will contain a mix of these.

We are not here to discuss his citizenship. This thread is for Super Eagles players, as you can probably read, not for Nigerian players. So, when we discuss anybody here, we are discussing those that are eligible to play for Nigeria (and want to play) or already play for Nigeria.

We are not discussing those that go to Nigerian Weddings in London and eat Jollof rice, then wish Nigeria Happy Independence and fly the flag whenever a Burna Boy jam comes on at a club in Essex. This is not the thread for those ones, else, we may also begin to talk about Skepta and John Boyega.

As far as this thread and the rest of the workd is concerned, Tammy is English. Be guided

The scorer of Lille’s only goal in their 1-2 loss to Chelsea Victor Osimhen has earned praises from coach of the English team Frank Lampard, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.

Osimhen evaded his markers to draw Lille level in the 33rd minute and came twice to scoring twice in a performance which saw him trouble Chelsea central defence duo of Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma.

Speaking after the game, Lampard said the 21 year old Nigerian who has scored seven goals in all competitions this season had a very ‎good game as he caused his defenders a whole lot of trouble, he went as far as saying the Nigeria international has everything in his game.

“He was hugely impressive. Tonight was a tough match for our defenders. His performance was really good. He has everything in his game and it’s tough to play against him. I wish him well. He has a fantastic career ahead of him”, Lampard said at the post match conference.

Linked with a move to Chelsea next summer when their transfer ban would have been over, the forward joined Lille from Belgium side Charleroi in the summer after a productive spell on loan from Wolfsburg who were powerless to stop him joining Charleroi permanently after they activated the option of signing him permanently.

Legendary Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has backed Fikayo Tomori who failed to track failed to keep an eye on Nigeria international forward Victor Osimhen for Lille’s only goal in the 1-2 UEFA Champions League loss to Chelsea.

Take 1 Cup Of This (Before Bed) & Flush Away Your Belly Fat!
Tomori lost sight of Osimhen as the Nigerian rose to meet a cornerkick with a firm header to draw Lille level in the 33rd minute after Tammy Abraham has given Chelsea the lead in the 22nd minute.

Speaking during the half time break, the former England international said Tomori can be excused for the goal because of the movement of Osimhen which made it hard for the Chelsea defence to keep an eye on him.

” It’s not easy trying to stop a striker who is always running and switching positions. Osimhen is always on the move and in the goal he took up a position in between Tomori and Zouma. At a time they both thought he belong to the other man. Really hard to stop a striker who is full of movement in the box”, Ferdinand said.

Chelsea recovered from the setback to win the game 2-1 condemning Lille to their second consecutive defeat in the UEFA Champions League while for Chelsea it has balanced out the 0-1 loss they suffered against Valencia.

It's not a rule, wherever did you read that.

If we must discuss Tammy, we can discuss him the same way we discuss Ronaldo and co, as international players. He is not a Super Eagles player, so, we are discussing him in the context of an international player.

Like I said, he is Nigerian in his father's house, on the pitch, he is English. The sooner some people stop forcing us to discuss Tammy as if he is a Super Eagles player, the better for us. His growth, stagnation or whatever will not affect the Nigerian team, will it?

I don't know where forgiveness brought up talk about eligibility and citizenship. My point was clear as day, but can easily be misconstrued by the usual persons.

Even the discussions about Ronaldo and Messi can be tiring in its self. The priority on this thread is Super Eagles players, everyone else is an after-thought, including Tammy.

in komekn's defence, he was talking of the "here and now"; in that moment, he wasn't talking long term

And to some extent, he wasn't wrong. After all, this is two years after; it took Victor at least a year after that post, to get his footing back.

It doesn't look hilarious, it looks concise.

Is Lillie lower than the lowly Championship teams?

If you put Osimhen in those team in the Championship, do you think he will score goals?
Bros wat he is saying is dat if u put tammy in the lille team vs a big team like chelsea he wont be able to get dat rating dat osimhen did...and that is d truth, unless u agree dat 1) ur chelsea team is on the same level with lille.. and 2)that tammy played beta tonyt even tho he was surrounded by way more matured and seasoned professionals.

Nothing hilarious about it to me. If the likes of Success and Iheanacho have followed a better path to development they would likely be stealing headlines like Osimhen today. I personally don’t famcy our players rushing to the EPL.

As at then he'll comfortably make any English club youth team

Nigeria's laws do not supercede international laws, as regards nationality.

Anybody without a Nigerian passport, will not be regarded as a Nigerian in the international community. You may even be born and bred in Nigeria, but you will be identified with the passport you possess on the international front. When Pius Adesanmi died in the fatal Ethiopian plane crash last year or so, he was listed as Canadian, because he had a Canadian passport. A certain actress, Hannah John-Kamen, has a Nigerian dad and Norwegian mum, but she is British.

At most, Tammy would be of Nigerian-origin, but as long as he has an English passport, he is English.

If I come get multiple passports nko.

Imagine an osihmen and chukwueze leading the line for the Eagles, Shay we no go kee person like this...

It's our time folks, the next 5 years should be a memorable one for the supporters of the SE......

Abraham is a good player, one man here would not make me hate him, I wish him well in his career, to be honest I do not hate any Nigerian player, home or FB, I always wish all our brother well....

I wish he gets to play a couple of games for england tho, we all know the age of Harry Kane and rashford, and we also know he only gets in if they are injured or rested, but I pray the 9ja blood in him can help him get close to 20 caps Sha...

I wish same but don't be too quick. Football can be crazy at times. These two may even fizzle out and another duo may be the ones leading the attack. I have seen this happen over time. Some people almost killed me on this thread years back because I said same about Iheanacho. grin

My comment I made then was about the flashes of brilliance I saw when he came on for Nigeria.

When Osimhen had a run of games at Charleroi, he delivered. Because a coach decided not to play Osimhen, did not mean he was not good. When he got a chance with the Olympics team, he delivered.

No one said Osimhen has not improved but he was a good player not given a run of games. Talk less of not making an English youth team which was a joke.

I will like you to think and pause and consider what you have written and the presumptuous supposedly informed deductions you have made.

Now do you know how many Nigerian SE players current and past have Foreign that is non Nigeria. passports ❓ You clearly do not know.

By my own estimation you will find near 70% plus have non Nigerian passports. Therefore according to you most of our SE players are not Nigerian.

And you are a lawyer.

Lololol...komekn is always brilliant with his words...uses them to wriggle out of corners...he has said he catches his fun with the thread and I can imagine how much fun he is having with his twists and turns...like a mercurial midfielder.

What's the meaning of 'here and now', is it that particular match, is it a month, that season or years. When he said he has nothing to offer the SE, is it just that match or the during a difficult season, when the boys he likes are having a difficult 'right here and now', does he also say they have nothing to offer the SE.
A boy that went to the under 17 won the cup and came off as the highest goal scorer and then he says he can't get into Chelsea arsenal under 18, how many of those boys prayed and wish they went to the championship, how many of them if substituting with osihmen will come off as the highest goal scorer.
The same attributes he is excoriating the boy for, ' headless running' is the same thing lampard and Ferdinand is praising him for.
He said he is not fast but determined, its either you are fast or not determination does not suddenly turn you to usain bolt, that boy has been determined and aggressive since we knew him. He goes after every ball, the EPL defenders he said are fast and aggressive could not match his speed, he went after tomori got the ball and almost rounded the keeper. It was not him against a defender, it was osihmen against the entire top English defence and dem hear am.
Komekn is wordsmith and I like his temperament, but he is getting riled up recently too, losing some cool.

Not given a run of games because Osimhen was below the pecking order over a legend like Mario Gomez does not mean he was not good. As soon as he had a run of games, he showed quality.

I have seen this phenomenon so often it's almost guaranteed for players to have dips in form.

We have seen players that clubs have paid £20 million plus ➕ within a few years completely dead. This is even more pronounced with youth players.

It takes a few seasons for a player to get consistency. And then to maintain top consistent performances another challenge.

A few years ago Benteke was ahead of Lukaku and Origi. He was bought by the so called improver of players Rogers and inherited by Klopp.

Today Benteke is a mere shadow of his former self. Meanwhile Origi who was considered surplus to requirements and ridiculed has become a mainstay in the team for Liverpool and celebrated.

The list is endless.

My opinion at that time remains unequivocally the same.

Football is a very short term career and matters are not judged in the long term but the hear and now.

At that time he would have not made any top premier league academy. A player who was not getting any games in lowly Wolfsburg will turn up at Chelsea and or Arsenal and walk straight in very much doubt it.

The idea that a player is dead in one but becomes alive in another is a common phenomenon. It is not unique to Osimhen and it will not stop with him it is also vice versa. On fire alive in one club but dead in another.

That is why players must be very very wise and thoughtful about the club's the transfer too. Many a big money transfer has seen the death of players.

Look at how Gnabry has embarrassed Arsenal and made them to look foolish. But that's football my friend nobody really knows , ONLY GOD.

Osimhen showed great promise at the U-17s and was always gonna take a while for a young African footballer to find his feet in a European setup typical of a lot of players with his background. The joy is that he is one from from the pool of our recent U-17s talent who is likely gonna fulfill his potentials baring any unforeseen circumstances...I wish him all d best!

Training, bench, playing, watching games are all part of a players development, there just have to be a good balance. A player may not be able to master what he learns on the training ground if he doesn’t get the chance to express himself on the field in an actual game.

Being on the bench does not mean the player is not good.

Point is, when a quality player gets a run of games in a good system, he will most likely excel. Mocking a player because he is on the bench shows that the person does not know that even good players can be left on the bench.

Look at Soyuncu last season at Leicester City. Getting little to no playing time. Today, he is the toast of Leicester City defence, putting in impressive shifts match after match.

Because he was on the bench last season did not mean he was not a good player. Same goes to Benkovic who is also not even making match day squad at Leicester City. When he gets his run of games, he will show his quality.
