Same pad some girls use to block toilet pipe line why flush down ur used pad inside toilet?

Is there a proper sanitary bin provided inside the cubicle? Is there a sign telling people how to dispose of their soiled products?

Is the bin regularly emptied? Is it clean so that someone will be able to touch it and put their trash inside?

Those are the questions to answer your question... we have terrible toilet culture in this country

Blacks are really not fit to rule themselves. They rush to do irrelevant things that will not move the couch try forward. e.g. N-Power, Trader Money, School feeding, now sanitary pad.

But ignores the things that will move the country forward. Power sector, Infrastructures both in health and education, Human capital development. Investment is agriculture, creation of employment. What a a nation.

For secondary school students? At that stage, Zip Up should be the preached message.

The Federal Government on Friday said it has commenced its free distribution to schoolgirls in the country and had embarked on a policy to subsidise the cost of sanitary pads.

The government also called on companies which produce sanitary pads to key into the gesture as part of their corporate social responsibilities through contributions, price reduction and availability.

The Director-General, National Centre for Women Development, a parastatal of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mary Ekpere-Eta, stated these during a press briefing held in Abuja in commemoration of the 2019 International Day of the Girl Child with the theme: “Girlsforce: Unscripted…Unstoppable – Empowering girls for a brighter tomorrow.”

She said through such efforts, young girls would not have to suffer as a result of the high cost of sanitary pads.

Sanitary pads largely go for between N250 and N400 per pack, depending on the quality.

Ekpere-Eta said the NCWD was in talks with sanitary pad-producing companies towards ensuring that the price of pad were subsidised.

She said even though much had been achieved, there was still much to be desired as child marriage still existed, alongside daily occurrences of gender-based violence against the girl child with some of them being turned into sex slaves.

She said, “We have a menstrual hygiene corner in our programme whereby many of you could just drop in may be N10 or N20 and there’s an arrangement with most of these companies who produce sanitary pads who will now sell at subsidised rates, which we will distribute to rural areas, especially in secondary schools.

“Be that as it may, we are working further to see how the issue of price will be dealt with. But it is a gradual process and we need to find a way to reach the manufacturers and find out how to reduce the price.

“Through advocacy, we encourage as a corporate social organisation from other agencies and private sector, to ensure that every organisation will buy a certain quantity of pads available to schools and send to rural areas as their own CSR.”

How is providing sanitary products for teenage girls who may not be able to afford them and may be discouraged from going to school during their menses "irrelevant"?

In fact this is one of the most progressive actions Ive seen from the government this year. Im surprised at them

You must not comment, it's not by force. How can you say that government intervention in those areas you mentioned are not important? Tomorrow you will say that leadership is your right simply because you are a youth. But see your reasoning.

As for those other areas you mentioned like power, Agriculture etc, you will agree with me that government is seriously doing something about them. For instance, government has signed an M.O.U with Siemens for incremental electricity generation and distribution between now and 2025.

On agriculture, I don't have to inform you what measures government is taking to address that sector. The major problem there is largely you and I who prefer foreign food even when they fall below the standard we have in this country. Government has taken a step further by banning food importation so that we all can look inward and patronize our own foods and help for the government investments in the sector to yield the desired result. Though I will not be surprised if you also criticised that policy of government.

On human capital development, you see why I said you must not comment. You criticized N-power, trader money etc, then you turn to say you prefer human development. Please what's the major issue the N-power is addressing if not human development? In case you don't know, N-power is 100% human development. That's you have N-build where technicians are trained to modern approach to what they are doing. You have N-teach where young graduates are to teach and develop those in secondary schools. You have N-health where the medics are to work in health centers. But in all of these, many who are already working still deceitfully joined the N-power even though it's meant for the unemployed graduates. While others who even though there are unemployed, collects the money without delivering the services. Yet, they come here to criticise and lampoon the government for all the ills befalling this country. Habba!!! That's bad.

The comments I've read so far is so disheartening.... No sincere commendation for the government for this kind gesture towards the girl child. It shows we have not been following global outcry on issues girl child face during their mensuration. It's a big concern for WHO, especially for girl child in developing countries. They face depression, seclusion, suffer various health complications just because they can't afford sanitary pad and are using various materials raging from rags, papers, leaves and so on.

This is a big project....the government have done well.
