Try estibot for the monthly search volume. If it is poor/low, don't include it in the message to be sent. Cleverly cut out that part and just tell how great, memorable, descriptive, good for seo, etc, the domain is.

Use estibot wisely. You can only do 2 searches per day (except you want to purchase premium...)

If I were you, I won't give him any statistics, unless the statistics are attractive, which are not likely for most domains in our usual price range.

Its possible he just wants to know exactly how the transaction works, cos he's not familiar with domain trading.
Just give him details that the domain may help him rank higher in Google for his customers that will be searching for his website, ......that he can use the domain for his main website or redirect it to his already existing domain, ....and that the sale will be done under escrow with a reputable company, to guarantee peace of mind for both buyer and seller.
That's all.
If he wants any specific thing extra, he will ask.
