funmijoyb:Aunty Shut up ooooo U don't have an idea what u are saying... Uromi is not a savage bush land but a booming town and even at that the rate at which traditions hold ground is stunning.... Hafa as an esan woman she should be married the legal way ooh ...forget grudges and do the proper thing... I am a very strong Christian and I often dismissed some of this our uromi traditions as false...but after a family member secretly broke a tradition and delayed in rectifying it ..I was in support but after several occurances I was shocked ...until the something was done to remedy the effect... Girl ...uromi laws take full effect if broken ....so go and sit down with ur ignorance and don't mislead this guy 4 Likes |

johnmattew:People, evil spirits...doctrines of demons..we have it all over Africa and some parts of the world in different forms. Any one who has not been redeemed from tribe and tongues is still bound to them....children born into such family too will in the name of "tradition"....and that's how it goes till it becomes generational. For every culture, bizarre or not, there is a deity (prince) presiding over it, guarding it, enforcing that people do it that way, because that's how they keep their reign over souls... 1 Like |

twosquare: True, very interesting proverb/s. I took the key words to translate the conceptual meaning, the literal one is what you described. Abike: treasured child Odi: opposite, tragedy, bad, negative, taboo Oruko: name , identity, culture, tradition, roots To ba wu: no longer bound or subject to, law unto yourself, do as you please, whatever you like, no judgement |

My cousins faced a similar situation with yours. Dad's family maltreated and abandoned them. They're 3 girls in the family. In all their weddings, their mom went to the Onogie's palace. They told them what to do, sent representatives and collected the bride price. This happened in esan land. Look for any Ishan man to accompany you, go to the onogie of uromi's palace. Table your matter before him. It's quite simple and you will get a good response 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Mrpsly247:THIS ARE SOME OF THE COMMENT FROM THE FORUM.STILL WAITING FOR MORE.THEN I WILL TELL YOU MY OWN STORY. First, they have to put their difference aside. In this case, he or she need to come home. Marriage list and rites are not what you discuss on Facebook. They need to meet their parent's relatives since they are dead, and discuss this issue because it's delicate. I think U are not in the position to give her out for marriage since both of u have the same mother and not the same father, now that u are both orphans it's the rite of the girl father's brothers to do so even when they fail in there duty to take care of her 1 Like |

Am Esan.Let me boldly tell you.Seek temporary peace inform her uncles, dont do the marriage in the village.Forgive and forget. There are even chances the family is looking to seek forgiveness from you.Do no listen to these ones telling you to just do court and rest. The repercussion varies and is not good.Do your best and leave the rest.Infact before you present yourself to them.sneak to the place and study.Mind you Uromi are the most cunny ones in Esanland. My grand fathers eldest daughter just traced her roots last year at 65 years. At that age she is a nurse who has never been married and struggling to find her feet in life whereas her younger ones are all ok.Esan is different from a million tribes. For faster response and better views by elders and esans go to esan mega forum on facebook and ask your question. |
